Licking a bit of icing off of her fingers, Lainey tilted her head to the side. “ Oh.. I think I know where those are! “ She had seen a spice cabinet earlier when she had been looking for the sugar. Opening Up one of the cabinet doors she beckoned him to come over so she could show him. “ There they are. “ 

Theo followed the other to the spice cabinet, nodding his thanks to her as he rifled through it, pulling out a few containers. “Your baking smells good, by the way. Could smell it half way from my dorm.”

Aurora Thorne loved the library, it was a forest of books and reminded her fondly of dear friends like Belle, it was also where she was told she’d find Theo, the young man who found her in the woods that day. It was no an understatement to say he’d saved her life and so her little gift basket seemed a poor gift in return but she figured it was a good start. She sat with it and watched people coming it, perking up and deflating every time a tall brooding looking person with dark hair came in. 

Finally she saw him, something about his face seemed sad or angry or both, it was the energy she got from him even that day but she steeled herself and stepped around the table and approached. “Hello,” she said, holding out the basket, “I brought this to say…thank you I suppose, I hope you like the things in here…”

With his summer semester finished, and the fall semester right around the corner, Toothless was hell-bent on spending the last few days of summer relaxing. And, while he’d rather be outside swimming or running, the library was a place he found himself drawn to. Even the idea of reading more was something that seemed nice, and, for the first time in years, he planned to pick up a book to read -- for fun.

As he stepped in, and made his way towards the fiction section, he stopped as a familiar face approached him. Theo offered a faint smile, raising a brow as the woman offered him a basket of assorted goodies. He wasn’t sure what to say or how to say it for a few moments, but eventually settled on: “You don’t have to thank me for what I did. But... uh.. Thank you, I suppose.” The werewolf peeked at a few of the items, but focused his attention on her. “Are you doing better?”

Is there anyone that sparks your interest here?

“Interest in what? My interest in log cabins? In specialty carpets? The heat death of the universe?” Toothless shook his head. “No, I haven’t found a special someone yet. Don’t expect to.”

do you get fleas?

“I’ve had a few on me before, but they usually don’t bother me after I shower. They’re only really a problem a day or so after the full moon. Not that it should matter. I’m clean.”

She had just finished icing the cupcakes when the boy had greeted her.  Looking up from the baked goods she smiled over towards him. “ I’m doing just fine thank you. “ she replied with a polite nod. “ Did you need anything from in here? I could get it for you if you’d like. “ she offered, turning around to seeing if there were any cabinets open. 

He nodded, setting his food on the counter top, pulling it out slowly. “Uh.. I’m just going to make myself dinner, really. I need spices, but I don’t know what I want, honestly.” Toothless shrugged as he pulled out the veggies, eyeing the instructions for a moment before placing the bag in the microwave for a couple of minutes. “Just let me know if I get in your way.”

“I wasn’t harassing anyone. It was just a bit of…extreme suggestion.” If Sally was anything, it was stubborn. And that meant that she was not about to admit she was wrong, even if he did have a point. “And usually people say something like ‘I can’t’ or ‘I’m sorry’. This guy just slowly walked past us and ignored us. He could’ve at least taken a flyer.”

“I mean, not everyone has to show interest in giving blood. Good thing to do, yeah, but he could have walked past knowing there was no way he could donate. Or he was going somewhere. It’s not like you know what was going on in his life. He didn’t owe you guys anything.”

“I trust you.”

Toothless furrowed his brow as the other spoke to him. He recognized her from that day in the woods; Aurora, right? She seemed to be doing a little better than she had been before, which was a relief. “Why do you trust me?” The werewolf found himself asking. He hadn’t done much to earn her trust, unless the situation in the woods had caused it. Though, he hadn’t thought of his actions as something to form trust over.

“Don’t know. It’s not really something I pay attention to. Having goo-goo eyes over someone isn’t exactly in my list of things to do here. I just want an education.”

Do you have any reoccurring nightmares?

“Yeah; being chased by hunters. Hearing my parents screaming in the distance. Losing my family. Happens more than I’d like to admit. But, that’s all the more I’m going to say on this. Rather not think about it if I don’t have to.”

what feature do you find most attractive in someone?

“Uh… I don’t know. Eyes? Strength? The ability to enjoy quiet time without needing to fill the silence with conversation?”

Lainey had just finished taking out a batch of cupcakes from the oven, the scent of freshly baked vanilla cupcakes filling the kitchen. Her brother’s birthday had been right around the corner and even though she couldn’t make it home to see him she still wanted to send something back home to wish him a happy birthday. Taking a tube of pink icing she began to ice the freshly baked cupcakes, only stopping once she heard the sound of footsteps approach the empty kitchen. Her attention immediately shifted over to who had stepped inside, recognizing him from before. Her lashes fluttered a bit before she greeted him, “ Oh hello there! “ 

With a bit of extra cash in his pocket, Toothless decided to treat himself to something actually nice for dinner. Well, as nice as he was willing to go. He had bought himself a cheap strip steak and some microwavable vegetables to enjoy for dinner, happy to make his way to the kitchen so he could fix his meal. The scent of sweets hit his nostrils on the way there, which he didn’t really mind. It just meant someone was there, or, at the very least, had been there. He hoped for the latter, though almost felt disappointed as he saw someone still there. As she greeted him, he nodded. “Hey. How’s it going?”

Pacifica was fairly pleased that her offer wasn’t met with the harsh rejection that some of her more prideful classmates would have given her. Money made the world go round and those who snubbed their noses at it were living in their own fantasy world. Her nails tapped against the hard surface of the desk as she pursed her lips in thought, “What would you say if I told you to put a price on it yourself? What sort of value would you give yourself?” She cocked her head to the side, intrigued to hear what the answer was. “If it’s a decent price then I’ll be willing to pay.”

Toothless thought about the offer for a long moment, actually wondering how he valued his time. He didn’t actually know what a decent rate for this kind of stuff was. The werewolf deliberated for a long moment before speaking up. “$300? Seems fair enough to me. I can email you the project and whatever. You’ll have speaking parts for the presentation probably. But only so we don’t look suspicious.” He shrugged.

“Like it would have been packed up nicely anyways.” Rita teased, with a soft nudge to the others shoulder.  “And besides you should be thanking me, your day just got at least twenty times better.” Rita explained, as she guided him off campus and toward down town.  

He rolled his eyes, though he definitely wasn’t about to admit that she was right. Theo probably would have just shoved the stuff in his bag, regardless of how neat it was. “Well, I’ll thank you when I figure out where you’re taking me.”

“I was trying to get people to give blood, obviously.” She retorted. What did he think she was trying to do? “And someone walked past us and totally ignored us. It didn’t look like they had anywhere to be either.” But because she’d spoken up and called them out on it, of course she was the one who was in trouble.

“You can’t just harass someone to give blood. They might have been a werewolf or something. Or anemic. Or were unfit to donate for some other reason.” He shrugged his shoulders. “People can do what they want with their body.”

“So the people running the blood drive banned me from helping out.” Sally said to the person sitting across from her with a roll of her eyes. Taking a bite of her breakfast, the brunette continued. “I singled out one person that was ignoring us and suddenly I’m the bad guy.”

Theo stared at the other with a rather unamused expression. What was the other talking about? “What are you talking about? You singled someone out? What were you doing?”

Pacifica dropped all her supplies upon the table that the other was seated at, a huffy breath falling from her lips as she plopped down in the empty seat. She had been assigned to work with the other on a project when she had plans to work with one of her friends. After all, this was college, not high school, so why did some professors still choose to assign partners? “So… I don’t know about you but I have a pretty busy schedule and I’m not sure how much I’m going to be able to contribute to this whole presentation.” There was a pause as she tilted her head to the side. “Do you think you could make sure we get a good grade? I’d be willing to pay you something – whatever you wanted.” She flashed him a smile as if that would convince the other. 

Toothless was never happy about having to work with other students on projects; he thought it was silly to have part of his grade fall on another person. The werewolf certainly would have felt better if it was someone he even sort of knew, though he wasn’t that lucky. He looked up at his assigned partner, furrowing his brow as she spoke. Part of him wanted to accept the cash so he wouldn’t have to deal with working with someone. “How much are you offering?” He leaned forward, resting his elbow on the table.

Rita reached over closing the book, “Well take a tip from me.” She moved shoving the book into her backpack, “When you feel your brain cells dying, it is time for a break.  So you can either follow me Little Pup, or your expensive text book is now mine.”   She began walking away, “Choice is yours!” She added with a smirk as she picked up her pace.

Toothless wasn’t about to let his friend jack his textbook, as much as he didn’t care for reading it. At the very least, he was happy to welcome the break, and he was sure his head would appreciate it as well. The young man grabbed his stuff hurriedly and began to give chase to the other. “You didn’t even give me a chance to pack my stuff up nicely, Rit.”
