Valentine's Day || @cutecoordinatormay
May peeked over and followed Drewâs gaze, smiling when she spotted the stand. âOh, that one! It smells super yummy!âÂ
She quickly stumbled after him, not noticing he left until a moment after. She stood before him as she looked over the menu and frowned. How could she decide? They all sounded so good!
"Peppers and sausages?" She wasnât actually too surprised by his answer for some reason, but she wasnât sure that was what she was craving. "I kinda want fruit on mine."Â
"Fruit?" Drew asked skeptically. If there were two things that he didn't see as belonging together they were fruit and pizza. Though, May had always been rather adventurous when it came to food.
"I don't see how fruit and pizza is a very good combination but... have it your way," he let out a light laugh as her placed his own order and retrieved his slice. His stomach growled in anticipation as he waited for May.
Valentine's Day || @cutecoordinatormay
"Pizza?" May asked, her eyes shining. It had been a while since she had pizzaâshe had been lost for quite some time, so she had been depending on what she could scavenge out of her bag and the nature around her. "Iâd love to!"Â
May couldnât help but feel happy that Drew would ask her to eat with himâit wasnât often Drew took the initiative to make plans. She wondered what kind of pizza he liked?Â
Score. The little crowd in Drew's head cheered as May accepted his offer. He couldn't help but feel happier knowing that she was joining him on his junk food adventure.
"Great." Drew smiled before pointing just down the street. "I've had my eye on that stand right there for a few minutes now. Let's go check it out."Â He waved a hand, motioning for May to follow him.
Upon approaching the booth, Drew skimmed over the seemingly endless menu of toppings, unsure of which to pick.
"...Maybe I'll get peppers and sausage," he said after a moment of thought.
Valentine's Day || @cutecoordinatormay
May couldnât help but notice Drew seemed awfully conflicted over this. Maybe there were just too many options and he couldnât decide? I mean, she knew that she wanted to try everything, so she could certainly see how it was a troubling choice.Â
"âMe?" May pointed to herself as she glanced around before looking back to him. "IÂ have only had cotton candyâso Iâm still pretty hungry.â She had been so distracted looking around that she hadnât gotten to do or try much yet.Â
Only May would still be hungry even after indulging in something like that. But, well, he supposed that it was good news for him. He had more recently been looking for excuses to see May outside of battling and contests. A festival like this one served as a perfect opportunity. He couldn't let it go to waste.
"Would you like to join me then?" he asked, smiling. "I was thinking about getting some of that pizza over there, and you make for good company."
Valentine's Day || @cutecoordinatormay
May tilted her head curiously as Drew went on about food before glancing around the festival.
"âThereâs lotsa food here,â she pointed out, holding up her cotton candy a bit for emphasis. âI mean, hot meals, too!â After all, the thought of having no food was too much for May. She couldnât imagine what Drew was feelingâto be looking forward to a nice hot meal only to have it torn away from you.Â
Drew let out a slight, disgruntled sigh. Fried foods simply never had all that much appeal to him--but the lingering scent of fried dough and pizza was somehow alluring tonight. Maybe he was so hungry that his stomach was imagining things. Either way, he had to get something to eat.
"I guess you're right," he sighed, noticing a pizza stand behind May's head. Pizza sounded good right about now. He had half the mind to head over there right that moment, but he stopped himself. May was here. Alone. And he couldn't help but think that something about her looked awfully cute tonight.
"...Are you hungry?"
That's a dumb question.
Very quick and rough sketch of my contestshipping fankids, Allie and Nick. I wrote a little once about them here if youâre interested!
Valentine's Day || @cutecoordinatormay
When Drew nodded to her balloon and cotton candy, she became embarrassed and waved it off. âO-only about a half hour!â It wasnât too often she ran into Drew in a setting like this. She didnât get to see him outside of contests too often, so when she did, she always seemed to be more mindful of how she appeared. She noted she must look rather silly to him now, though.
That explained it. He was just trying to get backâof course he wouldnât be interested in a place like this. âItâs totally packed,â May told him, tilting her head. âIt was full when I left.âÂ
"Ah, wonderful," Drew sighed, aggravated, pinching the bridge of his nose. If the Pokemon Center was as packed as May claimed it to be, then there was no way he was going to be able to get back there and have a hot meal delivered to his room by a reasonable hour. That didn't leave him with very many options.
"I was hoping that I'd be able to get back quickly so I could get something to eat within the next hour--but that doesn't look like it's going to be the case," he said, eying the large group of people and stands blocking the road. "I'm starving," he murmured to himself.
Ash simply eyed him. The disbelief etched upon Drewâs face was something to admire, who knew that the coordinator was capable of making such a face like that? He waited patiently for the younger male to recollect himself however, that didnât seem to happen. In fact Drew seemed even more in disbelief at his appearance.
"Nice to see you recognized me," His lips twitched into a faint smile briefly before returning back into a vacant frown. "Yeah, it has. Several years in fact."
Time really had a way of flying before your eyes. It still felt as if he had only met Ash a few days ago on that beach in Slateport City--but it reality it had been nearly a decade now. A lot had changed since then, which apparently included Ash too. He definitely didn't seem like that same bubbly, hot tempered kid who's Taillow he pulverized all those years ago. He felt a little... colder.
"It looks like a lot has changed," he said with a nod. He hesitated for a moment before asking, "How have you been? I haven't heard much of you from May recently. Are you two still in contact?"

Team Rackett? Do you even pay attention to the motto? We do it for a reason, you know? Itâs Team Rocket and who says Iâm here to waste my time on your pitiful PokĂ©mon?â
"Maybe I have a legitimate reason for being here and you should just stay out of my way?" She sighed because she was interested in the the contest. However, she was starting to regret her decision to not wear a disguise.Â
"Right. Team Rocket. Whatever," he partially groaned before looking at her, unamused. "Might I remind you that my "pitiful pokemon" have sent you and your little gang flying on several occasions," he huffed, crossing his arms.
"A legitimate reason?" What kind of "legitimate reason" could a criminal like this woman have for being here? "What's that supposed to mean?"
Valentine's Day || @cutecoordinatormay
May couldnât decide if what Drew was saying was an insult or not, so she decided to just push it aside.Â
"W-well, I mean, I sorta just stumbled across this place!" she admitted, shifting shyly. "I was on the outskirts of the city earlier, so nobody was around. When I came back, the festival had already started!" To be honest, May wouldnât have minded going with stranger if they had asked. It was always more fun to be with other people.Â
Still, she couldnât shake off why Drew was here. He seemed to be alone, which only perplexed her further. He couldnât possibly just be enjoying the festival, could he?Â
It sounded like he wasn't the only one who spent a large portion of Valentine's Day training (assuming that's what she was doing on the outskirts of the city). He was sure though that she had at least spent a chunk of her morning giving loving calls to her friends and family--she was simply that kind of person.
"I see," he said after listening to her story. He then nodded to the balloon tied to her wrist and the cotton candy in her hand. "You look like you've been here a while. I just got here myself--but I had no idea this was even going on. I was just trying to get back to the Pokemon Center," he huffed before glancing at a nearby concession stand. ...Was he this hungry five minutes ago?
ââ { âżâ } Â âBut of course ~â the ravenette chirped happily, a hand being brought up simply to tuck loose strands of her dark hair behind her ear. âIâm actually the gym leader of Celadon City in the Kanto region, specializing in grass-type Pokemon.â There were just so many wonderful things to love about grass-type Pokemon - they were beautiful, skilled, and gentle. Without her beloved grass-types, the botanist would be at a loss, for they were everything to her.
He paused. Did she just say she was a gym leader? He looked her over once more. That's right. This was the Erika he had heard about back when he was traveling through the Kanto region. Actually, he almost had half the mind to visit her gym back then--not as a challenger, but simply because he was sure his Roselia would have enjoyed the atmosphere.
"Ah, that's right! I know who you are," he said, crossing his arms. "I've heard about your gym in the past. It's relatively well known for it's perfume fragrances too, isn't it?"
A part of him felt rather annoyed that Drew didnât remember him, another part of him felt rather bemused. âI travelled with Brock, May and Max through Hoenn.â That was his first and only clue.
Drew paused. Wait a second. Did this guy just say he traveled with May through the Hoenn region?
Quickly snapping his eyes over to whom he had thought to be a stranger, he practically choked. "Ash Ketchum?"
No way. Something about him him looked different. Well, yeah, it had been nearly, what? Seven years since he had last seen him? Naturally he'd have grown up but... something just felt off.
"...It's been a while."
Valentine's Day || @cutecoordinatormay
"W-whatâs that supposed to meanâ?" May asked, puffing her cheeks a bit. She had to admit, thoughâDrew was the last person she expected to run into at a place like this. She always got the impression he didnât care much for parties. He never stayed for any after the Grand Festival, anyways.
"O-oh, uh⊠Uh-huh," she replied with a nervous smile, scratching the tip of her nose. She imagined she probably looked really lame to someone like him all by herself at a Valentineâs Day festival.Â
"Nothing," Drew replied with a light snicker. "Just that it's very like you partake in holiday activities like this. There's nothing wrong with it--it just isn't surprising, is all."
So she's alone after all. He had to admit he was a little surprised by that. Whether she was aware of it or not, May had plenty of admirers who'd love to take her to something as sappy as this. It felt a little odd that nobody would ask her. But, in a weird way, he almost felt a little... relieved? ...That sounded stupidly selfish.
"Well, there isn't anything wrong with that," he said, slipping his hands into his pockets. "Though, I'd think you'd want to come to something like this with some kind of date."
6 new people approached you
Colress nodded, absorbing the green haired boyâs words. How could he never had heard of Pokemon Contests before? He hoped they soon would become popular enough for the Unova region to host these contests. âHow is a Pokemon capable of demonstrating its beauty through moves? If itâs not an inconvenience, may I ask to observe a example?â he inquires.
Did he just ask for an example? Well, he supposed there was nothing wrong with it. His pokemon could use a little bit of practice--and he was always more than willing to show them off.
"Yeah, sure thing," Drew said, offering a smile before taking a few steps back. He reached into his bag, pulling out a pokeball and releasing his Masquerain.
"Masquerain, use silver wind," he commanded. Masquerain immediately obeyed and shrouded itself within a silvery vortex. "Hidden power," he said, opening his clenched fist.
Upon using hidden power, Masquerain cast bright lights within the vortex's openings--causing somewhat of a light show to be displayed. It was still a work-in-progress, but Drew was pleased with the results so far.

May had been buzzing all day. From the moment she woke up, she had hopped out of bed to make calls and eat chocolate. She had been stopping to talk to strangers and helping out others with their troubles (she was a self-proclaimed romantic, after all), and when she found out Hearthome City was throwing a festival, she could hardly wait to go.Â
It was cold, but no one seemed to care. It was lively and bright and colorful, and May couldnât get enough of it. She was on her third cotton candy and had a balloon tied around her wrist, deciding which ride she should go on next. For a moment or so every once and a while she would miss her friends, wishing they were here to enjoy such a fun night with her.
She pursed her lips before licking away some of the sugar on her lips. She couldnât get sad on Valentineâs Day of all days! It was a time to celebrate love andâ
â!!âÂ
May squeaked in her throat as she stumbled into something. She quickly inhaled and stumbled back, bright red and embarrassed. "S-sorry! That was my bad," she apologized quickly, but then paused when she got a look at the boy before her.
"D-Drewâ!!"
He had to admit, this was a surprise. He hadn't been expecting to run into anyone he knew here--let alone May of all people. Glancing her over quickly, his eyes were immediately drawn to the over-sized cotton candy in her hand. His first question was how many of them she'd already eaten tonight. She was going to make herself sick for sure.
Brushing off the few cotton candy flakes that had managed to land on his shirt from their little collision, Drew closed his eyes with a smirk glued on his face.
"Well, well, well," he started, opening an eye to look at her. "Look who it is. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that you of all people would come to something like this, May."
The atmosphere really did have "May" written all over it. The tacky heart decorations. The sugar-loaded foods. The fast moving carnival rides and games. Leave it to her to come to something like this on Valentine's Day.
Looking to her left, her right and then behind her, Drew couldn't help but notice one little detail though.
"...Are you here alone?"
HAPPY VALENTINEâS DAY<3
Drew is wondering if it was a mistake to get May that lolipop because his face is just getting sticky but who is he kidding itâs worth it
