Is there a certain way parents must raise their children to avoid gender identity disorder? I don’t think there is a way to avoid to gender identity disorder; it may occur but it is not a symptom that is preventable. As seen in the Boy’s Life article, parents who tried to push either gender neutral toys, or strictly girl toys for girls, or boy toys for boys, were not always successful. In these instances, the child had the overall say in what they wanted to do. Some may revert back to their initial gender or they may still feel gender dysphoria. This is out of our control no matter what our influence may be. In addition, if there are psychological reasons as to why children face gender identity disorder, that is difficult to predict. For instance, in reading about a girl who wanted to be a guy because she witnessed the power imbalance and abuse of her father against her mother, I was surprised by something like that having an impact on her gender identity. I feel like it varies from person to person depending on how they perceive things. Victoria Park
