hi i know it's been like...a month. but i completely forgot to send a follow up ask because i think your writing is so great and tbh i got overwhelmed by which scene to ask about lolll. if you're still up for giving DVD commentary though i'll go with a silly one and say i'd looove to hear how you came up with the whole scene with the charmander toy bc i thought it was so fun & sweet & such realistic bullshit to happen on tour :))

also wanted to say: i 100% get what you said about gerard being hard to write but i actually think you do him amazing justice. like obviously he's not the main character or concern in your fics but he's always so gerard. i especially loved how you wrote him almost quitting the band into 'these young hearts'

HIII so okay the charmander bit, to me, is Real Person Fact instead of fiction. When I saw my good friend nic's post about Ray Toro's bachelor pad (here) I saw that charmander and I got parasocially obsessed with it. It haunted me. Also on MCR's archived blog there was a post that inspired me as well

I was like OK he totally used his 40 dollar allowance on toys and Frank helped him bc they're in love. Also Ray carries the toy like a baby bc I am psychosexually fixated on getting ray barefoot and pregnant in a kitchen with flowing white curtains like in a dead-wife flashback. A normal amount though!!

3. I jump around sooooo much!!! Once I've got enough scenes built, I'll try connecting them going from start to finish. And then I fail and jump around anyway.

4. I've only properly outlined 'things that will be new' and a WIP that I've been working on and off on since 2023, otherwise I just write random scenes based on vibes and then desperately try to create a fic out of them. If I outline too carefully it makes my brain think I already wrote the thing and I don't get any pleasure from writing it "twice". This is a curse.

19. Ray is the easiest to write about because I looooooooooooooove him!!!! a normal amount. Frank and Mikey are easy for me too. Gerard is the hardest because as much as I love him he's really complex and I have read so many great gerards from people who Get It which makes me scared of committing clichés and Writing Gerard Wrong. This is also a curse.

I might do number 18 tomorrow if YOU 🫵 pick the fic and scene for me because I can't come up with one that might be interesting mdjfjfjg

anyway happy 25th anniversary today to frank and mikey meeting each other for the first time in line for a smashing pumpkins show in new jersey, just a day or two before mikey took gerard to the fabled madison square garden smashing pumpkins show where gerard turned to mikey and said that would be them one day ✌️

like take this with a grain of salt bc it’s off my “mcr is cosmically fated or whatever 🙄” stringboard but frank posted this on his story back in may:

and it looks like the only show the smashing pumpkins did in nj that year was this one in east rutherford on sept 16 1996, and the msg shows that are constantly referenced as the moment gerard realised he wanted to be in a band were on the 17th and 18th. i just think it’s neat these two moments happened right after each other…none of them had any idea what was coming for them or how far they’d go
