New logo, new name, new me!

Yes I will be rebranding myself and killing off Parrot Pile branding as time passes. This tumblr blog/parrotpile.com will be hanging around still for some time however, as I don’t currently have any immediate plans to move offsite, so you can still expect to see many things posted here!

I will also be reopening my store to sell stickers and planner accessories so look forward to that!

Pros:

I like the space that I have with this set up, not too much or too little

I was able to design the layout myself which I like

Overall just pleasing to look at, so gets me to use/look at it

A different spot in the planner to write down my ideas/thoughts, and a separate weekly goal box, which is exactly what I wanted out of this planner

Cons:

I can’t flick to any day that I want because I don’t have the pages for those weeks/month done

Need lots of stickers on hand to do the layout, would still opt for writing on stickers to avoid bleeding through to the next page

Hard to plan far ahead

I still feel like I need to use my other planner to write rough plans before I write them up nicely in this planner? Doesn’t make a lot of sense for me to be using 2 planners

I can’t really say what this has done for motivation or anything. I ended up sick for a few days which put me off. I also need to tweak my layout for next month, the boxes are 1mm too narrow somehow! I can cope with my weekly, monthly, and written notes all being in separate areas of the planner just fine, but not being able to plan far ahead is kind of a bother at the moment, maybe? Though that might just be because I incorrectly printed my April spreads which makes them difficult to use. By far the most annoying thing is probably the stickers I feel so inclined to use. Don’t get me wrong, I love stickers. But the process of getting my silhouette to cut them out and designing them just right is a fiddly process, but again maybe this is just something I need more practice with. My end aim with my planner is to have designed all the pages and all the stickers with it, I would not be improving my skills if I just used others’ inserts and stickers!

Blog Post: March 2017

I just wanted to write a quick post about what is going on with me, since I anticipate I will be less active over the next few months. But I also want there to be some type of excitement because I have so many ideas and things that I am slowly working on.

I’m starting an online short course, and want to get it done quickly, so I will be spending more of my free time getting through this first of all. I have six months to complete it all, so honestly I’m not sure how long it’s going to take. This means I have less time to work on art projects for the time being.

The main things I have been trying to work on are:

A comic (still too early to say much but I am pretty deep into working on the story and characters)

Monthly prints

Eventual enamel pin design

I have a planner that I just dump all my ideas into, there is a heap more I have written down and a long list of the good ideas I sum up each month, the above are more so just the ‘big’ projects.

Soon I will also be done with my commissions page. Prices will be cheaper than what they used to be, but I will be more selective of the commissions I take, and there will probably only be 1 or 2 slots each month.

I am also running a monthly design challenge. You design a character going with the theme, have the chance to win a prize, and can do whatever you want with the design at the end of it. You can find out more here.

Lastly, as soon as I have the time I will be updating my Tictail store with new photos and will be discounting many items as much as I can to clear them out. I will make a post when that has happened.
