Upon learning Drew’s reasoning for hanging around these parts, Bianca couldn’t help feeling slightly surprised. But the more overwhelming feeling was one of pride. He was doing well for himself, or so it would seem, and for that she was grateful. “Wow Drew, that’s amazing.” She flashed a sweet smile. After tucking away an unruly curl behind her ear she continued, “I’m honestly surprised we haven’t ran into each other sooner. I spend more time sitting around high schools than I’d openly admit to anyone.” A quiet laugh escaped past her lips. She didn’t want to be totally lame but if she didn’t at least put herself out there even remotely, she knew she’d regret it. “Uh, I don’t know if you’re in a rush to get somewhere but, maybe we can grab a coffee and catch up? I’m just waiting with Eric until his ride comes.” She glanced back to make sure the young boy was alright before her eyes fell onto Drew once again.

“It’s something, a start. You know Audra, she’s waiting for my next adventure.” His mother was as surprised as Bianca seemed to be. But being a businessman in the league worked for him it made sense. “I’m between here and the states a lot. Wherever my guys signed I’m generally in those cities checking in on them.” He had been to hundreds of high schools he didn’t double back generally either unless he saw a kid he liked. Drew glanced at his phone. “I have about an hour then I need to be somewhere to meet someone.” He couldn’t bring himself to tell her that he was with someone. Drew honestly was trying to shake Bianca but he was finding it harder now that he was face to face with her to turn her down. “Don’t challenge her to video games man, she acts like she can’t play but she’s a total shark.” He joked with the kid figuring he’d put the kid at ease a bit.

It felt like a lifetime ago that Bianca would hide beneath bleachers similar to the ones she sat upon. Finding a variety of trouble to get into. While a handful of those memories could be looked upon fondly, they were far from her mind in this moment. Before her sat a boy much younger, barely into his teens. Bianca knew she wasn’t supposed to give out her number to any of the kids she volunteered with, but she couldn’t help herself. They needed the support she lacked back then. And damn right she’d be the one to give it to them. After simply lending a listening ear for the last forty minutes, Bianca laid a gentle hand on the boy’s shoulder. Words of comfort ready at the tip of her tongue when a sudden creak behind her made the brunette turn. The last person she expected to see was her ex fiancee. Her heart hammered in her chest as his voice, warm and teasing as she remembered, broke the ice. “Ouch, trying to say I’m old, Torres?” She smirked, curls swaying as she shook her head at him. Bianca excused herself from her conversation and stood, eliminating a small portion of space between the former lovers. “I’m actually here with a kid I work with at The Shehan Center,” Over her shoulder she gestures. Bianca quirks her brow at Drew playfully before adding, “But that doesn’t tell me why you’re here.”

Drew still couldn’t believe that out of all of Toronto he was sitting in front of his ex. “That would therefore, infer that I am old. Which I’m not, or at least don’t consider myself.” Nah, Drew didn’t ever think he’d truly grow up fully. He enjoyed being laid back and relaxed too much to take things a hundred percent seriously all the time. “Oh didn’t realize that’s what you were doing.” He gave the kid a small wave and a warm smile. “Was looking at the football scrimmage, I have one of the kids out there that I am considering pairing up with one of my pro’s. I kind of frequent many high schools, searching for the next big thing that might hit the CFL or NFL.” It was easier to get to kids while they were young to mentor them forward. “I kind of make all of my guys I represent do this big brother thing.” Drew knew that some kids would have liked it, he tried to pick underprivileged schools. Give light to kids that may not have a shot otherwise.

A lot had changed since his days at Degrassi. One thing college couldn’t shake out of him was his love for football. Even though he couldn’t play he still had an edge in the game. Currently he was seeking out a couple of high school players to match up with the guys he had in the CFL and NFL for a mentorship of sorts. The guys he represented while earned him big bucks were also good hearted guys who he made sure gave back to those and especially kids like where they came from. It was a small group of guys but rome hadn’t been built in a day, nor his empire. He had just wrapped up watching one of the high school’s practices as he made his way down the bleachers intending on meeting up with his girlfriend for dinner when it seemed his life decided to spiral. He’d recognize that curly mop of hair anywhere. He was going to slip by her but when she turned Drew realized that there was no escape without acknowledging her presence. The last time he had saw her he had been turkey dumped, his ring returned and he had faced his senior year without her. “Uh, hey B. Aren’t you getting a little old to be hanging around high schools? Last I checked you graduated before me.” He tried to tease a little bit though he had no idea why she was hanging around a high school still. She had made it clear when she went into her freshman year she found bigger and better things than what he could have ever offered her.
