6. How comfortable is your OC in their skin? Do they like who they are? What would they want to change about themself?
hektor has always felt very conflicted about himself. he grew up in an elven village as the only half-elf and never felt like he belonged there, which is part of why he left at such a young age in the first place; but then spending so long wandering the continent all by himself didn't do him much good, either. he thought himself to belong nowhere, to no one, and thus lived a very isolated life
even in his travels with his party once they all come together, he would often feel alone. it's nice to finally have purpose and be useful to others, but he knew that that only stretched so far and especially when the entity began corrupting his mind he realized that his usefulness would never weigh heavy enough against the negative side effects from him being the only warlock of the entity
ultimately, he just wanted to be free from that influence. but given that the party all went their separate ways for a while in the moment he needed them the most in order to rid himself of this influence, he saw no other choice but to take matters into his own hands and defeat the entity in the only way he knew was possible; letting it die with him
23. What is your OC like when they’re angry?
hektor barely gets angry. he thinks of it as a useless emotion to show; to him, the feeling it evokes is very similar to when he loses control to the entity, which is the last position he wants to be in. however, when he does get angry, it's intense, and not at all what others are used to from him. he doesn't shout, or break things; but he would look like he's on fire and everything about his demeanor and appearance would radiate danger
36. Does your OC believe they deserve it when bad things happen to them?
hektor absolutely does. he grew up believing he was a failure, a mistake; something that was never meant to be. after he left the elven village it became easier for him to think kinder of himself, but it still took quite some time and effort to fully shed this feeling of not belonging, of not deserving good things. as a side effect, it did cause him to always believe that the bad things coming to him were deserved, in one way or another; as if he did something he had to be punished for. and because he fully believed his own logic, he would always manage to find an initial reason for it in his own behavior, which would then get him deeper into this negative feedback loop of his own making
ive talked about "childhood friends gone wrong" on here before right
there's probably already a name for this but it's a trope i coined for a very specific type of dynamic that im consistently obsessed with. give me two people who grew up together and played together and were each other's best friend and then Something Happened and now everything's fucked up but they're still friends. or they want to be at least. you look so different now and everything is so much more complicated now than when we played in your backyard but literally who else knows me better than you. who else could i ever call my best friend
actually sex is when you have to kill the only person in the world who ever understood you and then you go to their apartment and stand in the same spot they did and look out their window at the same view they saw trying to grasp at one last shred of connection now that they're gone all while thinking about how if you had to do it over you'd kill them again because that's how it was always going to end

the heatwave does have me thinking about what my wretched OCs would be doing under such circumstances and I fear for Jessie the answer is 100% that she's trying to see if she can convert her extremely experimental and unstable freeze ray into some kind of extreme air conditioning system. it basically works by just punching a hole through reality straight into the Cold Dimension, let's see if we can just hold that rift open a little bit. surely nothing bad will come of that.
Jessie and co. do call the awful, barely habitable warehouse where they live the Walk-In (yes, as in freezer) and trust me the irony of the fact that it has no central AC is not lost on them
Lily probably technically shouldn't be affected by the heat but she's extremely susceptible to the power of suggestion so rest assured she's suffering with everyone else. tried to be chipper about it by going up to tan on the roof but that lasted, like, an hour. now she's swanning around in various bikinis and making a mess in the kitchen trying to replicate every recipe she's every saved for smoothies and homemade popsicles and fruity lemonades. if you come anywhere near her you're getting a frozen mocktail.
Remi's noticed that his ghost witch is extra quiet when it's crazy hot and his working theory is that she's also suffering because she's from like 17-whatever and can't handle climate change heat so now he's running numbers trying to figure out if there's like. a perfect amount of cooked the Earth can get so that the ghost witch will still be there but will be totally gagged and he can use her powers without having to worry about getting possessed and waking up with his teeth missing. and then he's like ooooh my god I would have to do so much work to be a big enough villain to be In Charge Of Climate Change and then he just goes back to gaming.
extra hell for Remi because he's grudgingly willing to wear shorts but Will Not discard the hoodie of transgenderism so he's trying to compromise by stuffing his sports bra full of ice packs. he's constantly damp and it barely helps.
Tash is having such a bad time that she is occasionally finding herself thinking that Mothwoman's subterranean graveyard dungeon was at least cool, which was a major perk even if Tash was pretty sure she was going to die down there without anyone ever knowing what happened to her. best she can do now is fill the bathtub with cold water and sit in there reading. absolute prunification is ensuing, not to mention some dispute over use of the bathroom. she's considering trying veganism again like she's going to singlehandedly reduce cow methane enough to cool the world down.
Ace is actually mostly fine and just ignoring the heat because of her Insane Assassin Upbringing that left her pretty numb to most forms of physical discomfort, but her plants are having a pretty bad and that does make sad. she puts a lot of energy into the plants and she's really sensitive about them!!! those are her babies!!! also she refuses to wear sunscreen while she's out gardening and it makes Jessie and Tash go insane worrying about her but Ace keeps telling them that she "chooses not to burn" and they're not sure if that's true but she keeps not burning despite being extremely pale so ???
