In this au his quirk is mind control, instead of just brainwashing, he can brainwash people but also warp what they see. The drawbacks to this are the same as canon except with making people see things he also sees the things.
His parents died when he was young and therefore he went into fostercare. When his quit manifested he was labeled as a villain and was pushed aside, off to be abused and muzzled. Because of this he doesn’t trust people, has scars on his face from the muzzle, and has some chronic pain and troubles walking.
