Finn Hudson. 19 years old and graduate of William McKinley High School. I thought by this point I'd have some kind of idea what I wanted to do with my life. Joke's on me, I guess. The Army didn't work out, and I'm back here in Lima now. Working at Hummel Tires, and I've also been entrusted to try and help the New Directions get back to a National Championship again. Even if I don't have a clue what I want to do, at least I can help guide my friends towards their own futures. I'm no teacher, but at least I can wear the tie and sweater vest for a little bit.
Private: Exactly. Well I know, that would be wonderful… and you never know, it could happen. But it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t. That’s not true at all! And we’ll protest if he tries. You are, and you need to stop it. You better keep that promise, Finn! I think so too, and do you think teaching is something you might want to do now? I’m just being realistic; I don’t think I stand much of a chance to all the competition out in the real world.
Private: I don’t know, seems like a longshot but if I’ve learned anything with this club it’s never say never. And you’re right, I need to stop moping and get my head back in the game. I will keep it. I’ve never thought that much about it before, but if that’s what you’d call what I’ve been doing here then yeah, I might? Being realistic sucks though, and besides... you’re as talented as anybody else has been in the club for the last 3 years and you deserve the same chance that they do. You’ve got this, Tina Cohen-Chang.
While I resent any comparison to this unoriginal archangel of doom, I agree someone’s got to take her down. Personally, I think this is a great time to double-cross her. Considering the fact that bowties is suddenly a Cheerio, I’d say that’s your in for ruining her life from the inside for a change.Â
It was all meant as a compliment, of course. That’s devious... devious enough that it might work though. Not that I condone that at all.
Glee shouldn’t just be about competing, right? I mean, it’s fun, don’t get me wrong, but – we all joined for the music. So, we should be able to still have a good time, even if there’s no reward at the end. – I think it’s a good idea! It’ll be hard to get it past Sue, but, maybe we’ll just skip over the gym and head classroom to classroom.
Exactly! I don’t wanna be caught up in drama like that, especially during my Senior year. I want to make sure that I can graduate in one piece and head out to New York safely, after all. .. Speaking of which, have you talked to Rachel lately? Or Kurt, even?
The music, you’re really right Blaine. I want to try and make sure you guys all do have a great time. Probably... yup, we’re gonna get more shoes thrown at us.
Smart, very smart. Graduating with as few marks and scratches is a good goal to have. So you’re still planning on going to New York? I’ve talked to Kurt a bunch... Rachel, no.
Private: That doesn’t mean you don’t know how to either, Finn. It was your first competition leading– we didn’t even place the first time. I know, but there’s a difference between being humble and beating yourself up, and you’re doing the latter. I’m gonna if you don’t ease off yourself! Absolutely I will. I mean, this has been a big part of my life, but I feel like it’s more major now than it will be down the road, especially if I don’t even go into the business… which, let’s face it– I probably won’t. See??
You’re welcome Tina.
Private: I guess that’s a good point too, I just wish there was another chance and it wasn’t the last for you guys. Or me, there’s no way Mr. Schue’s going to feel like he needs to keep me around. Well... yeah, I guess I am a little bit. I’ll be good, I’ll be good! Okay, I guess so... wait, why wouldn’t you? You don’t want to keep following your dream, Tee? You’re right.
Thank you! Keep that in mind next time someone says otherwise. I guess not, but I don’t really think that matters, Finn. Don’t worry so much. We’re not mad at you; we all tried our best and that’s that. Try me, Finny D.
You’re welcome! Oh I will, they can’t tell me otherwise as it is. I guess not, not at this point at least. Thank you, well I’m relieved for that at least. I think I’ve learned enough not to try you, Tee.
Since Thanksgiving, I’ve been a sad little panda bear, but the magic of Christmas is making me feel much better. We decorated our tree and it’s super awesome, even made Lord Tubbington an angel so he can top off the tree. Maybe I’ll go see the fake Santa’s at the mall, they do have a direct email to the real Santa!
Aw Britt, don’t be sad. Nobody should be sad, especially this time of year. I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better thanks to the holiday season at least. Do you think he’ll actually sit on top of the tree all through Christmas?
That’s cool, I’m glad they’re getting more with the times and are using email now. Much faster, I bet.
Private: Were you and I in the same glee club? I love Mr. Schue, and I do think he tried his best, but there were so many times we didn’t win or he let competition get the better of him. At least you’ve stayed humble. He’s not a psychic– none of us are. You gave it your all just like we did. Don’t make me start calling you Mr. Hudson again! It’s okay; we win some, we loose some. And well, you were the one that arranged that performance. Remember that too.
I do like that confidence.
Private: I know, I get all of that, but in the end he knew how to lead us to victory. It’s not hard to be humble when you lose, Tee. No... I suppose that’s true. No please, not that! Yeah... you might feel that way now, but will you when you look back on all of this? Okay, I have to admit that was a pretty good point.
Anytime, Finn. But that’s not true! You did better than anyone else by far could have– keep in mind that we came far from winning many times even under Schue’s lead. Don’t make me hit you, Hudson.
You really are sweet, Tina, but even so, at least all those times we were at least in the running. We never got disqualified outright before. It just feels like such a waste, like we never got out of the starting blocks. You wouldn’t do that... would you?
You saw how Mr. Schue reacted – he was more concerned about getting us back on stage. You did the right thing, Finn. Trust me. And, even if we don’t get to compete anymore, we’re still committed to seeing the rest of the season out. Maybe we can give caroling another try?
I don’t think any of us do, honestly. I think that I played an important role in a scheme she was planning, which is why things went off without a hitch. Who knows where I could end up tomorrow – if I’m in her way, she could try to shoot me out of a canon, too.
Yeah, but I don’t think he knew what was happening with Marley at first. Still, thanks Blaine, I had to trust my instincts, it just sucks that it caused you guys to be disqualified in the process. If you guys really are, then so am I. We might get more shoes thrown at us, but I’d like that.
Hmm... it’s never good to be the in the middle of one of her schemes, so be careful okay? No cannons, the last time she tried it Britt got far closer to actually going through with it than any of us want to remember.
I don’t know, there’s a thousand reasons and I barely know anything about these kids. Isn’t that kind of your job to figure out? All I know is that I spent a solid year trying to burn this place from the inside off and on so who says she’s not doing the same?
Assuming I’ve still got a job here, but I guess that’s a good point. Well yeah, but you were a Cheeri- I mean, you were working for Su- but you made no secret about you fel-
Oh my god, I think we’ve got another Santana Lopez here. A less clever, less obvious one, but still.
I don’t even know what to say except that I’m so sorry. I feel terrible for making us lose and even more so I feel like an idiot for what I’ve been doing. I don’t even know what to say but keep apologizing. I hope you all can forgive me but I understand if you can’t..
Marley, that wasn’t your fault. You don’t have to keep apologizing, there’s really nothing to forgive. The important thing is you’re okay and feeling better, that’s all there is to say about that. Nobody should be blaming you for what happened.
I know we’re all down about what happened at Sectionals and everything but don’t tell me you don’t love when the city is covered in Christmas lights. It feels like holidays already.
It does make things a little bit easier to take, you’re right about that.
I can’t believe you’re agreeing with me, either. It feels weird. I feel weird. And a little dirty. Then again, that’s not that unusual. And thank you. I know we were great, but it’s still nice to hear it. And… you guys weren’t so bad yourselves. You would’ve made a formidable opponent if things hadn’t gone so south. Remember that for next year.
Wow, all this agreement... it does feel kind of dirty. You’re welcome though, Sebastian. And thanks, I appreciate that. It’s too bad it couldn’t have been a better battle, but yeah. For those in the club that are still around next year, anyways.
No, actually, that loss is on that evil Mini-Quinn Wanna-Be. I know her type because I was her type and I realize it may not be obvious with your rose-colored glasses but it’s clear she’s trying to sabotage this whole damn club and succeeding, too.
I know Kitty was responsible for Marley’s health, but why would she join the club and try to sabotage it? I guess in the long run it doesn’t matter, it kinda worked.
