Lilith before horseback riding.Â
The Pact
Emma is dancing with some other eight year old
Emma laughing because she finds this fun
Evan would just be dancing with another young girl occasionally leaning in to whisper something in her ear to make her giggle and blush.
Emma watches Evan and rolls her eyes
Evan feels a gaze on him although just resumes his posture.
Emma keeps dancing with David Parkinson
Emma starts to giggle a bit louder
Evan would be dancing with Annabelle although eventually growing tired of his muse.
Evan the song would change queuing a change of partners and Evan would carefully excuse himself before slipping infront of David cutting easily into Emma's step and replacing himself with David.
Emma: Hey.
Emma whispers harshly
Emma: What do you think you're doing?
Evan: You required a new partner. That's me.
Evan smirks a little with this as he looked at her.
Evan: Plus Fawley was boring me.
Emma rolls her eyes
Emma: Everything bores you.
Evan: Untrue. Not everything. Plus I saw you looking so. . . Parkinson must've bored you too.
Emma blushes sightly
Emma: I was just noticing how you were treating Fawley.
Emma: You *look* like you were having fun with her.
Evan: That's the job isn't it? Look like we're having fun?
Evan spins her out before returning to hold once more.
Emma: Not *that* much fun.
Emma sighs as she is spun back into him
Emma: Besides I'm not having much fun-
Emma: and maybe you should leave some of your fun to the imagination
Emma: ... at least that's what mother says
Evan: But my imagination is so overactive at times Em. I can't help it. Anyway you seem to be enjoying yourself perfectly well. . .
Evan steps into a complicated sequence seeing if she can keep up.
Emma: What was it that gave me away?
Emma struggles for a second before going into pace with him
Emma: Me rolling my eyes or me sighing?
Evan arches his eyebrow a little then.
Evan: Oh both, although the level at which you were giggling. . . Obviously attempting to catch someone's attention. . .
Emma: Yeah, David's.
Emma: Mother says I have to marry one of you.
Evan: Uhuh . . Then why was he looking at Queen during the time he spent dancing with you?
Emma: Really?
Emma: Really?
Emma looks at David
Evan: Mm. . . Sorry to say that isn't the type of man you want for a marriage partner.
Evan glances at David who is looking at Queen occasionally.
Emma: He was not looking at Liz... He couldn't have been...
Emma sees it is true
Evan: Excuse me? Is your brain not functioning? As I said that isn't the type of man you want. You need someone. . . Dedicated.
Emma: But I'm just so much prettier....
Emma shakes her head
Evan: You are, and might I say that dress. . . Beautiful Em.
Evan: One of your mother's latest designs?
Emma looks at him and smiles, blushing a bit more
Emma: Oh... yes. A custom Vanity.
Emma grins
Emma: I really love it.
Emma: I think that the diamonds really bring out my eyes.
Emma: ...
Emma: What were you saying before?
Emma: About...
Emma keeps dancing
Evan nods his head in agreement with this.
Evan: Very nice, mother seems interested in your own mother's latest line.
Emma: Is she?
Emma: Mother says that it's her best work yet- toping even last fall's line up.
Evan: Mm she is. . . and yes it appears diamonds do show the best of your eyes. As for what I was saying. . . David really isn't the best match. . . Looking at other women when with you. . .
Evan spins her out once again and back.
Emma: It's theme is the pond underwater- relating to Narcissus tragic tale...
Emma: Thank you, I thought so as well.
Emma: Well...
Emma looks back at David
Emma: I mean I trust you.
Evan: Oh really? I'm sure mother will be inquiring she always does enjoy buying from such a prestigious line.
Evan: Of course you should trust me, why wouldn't you?
Emma: It's going to be worth it, I keep hearing and you know they host these balls to show case previews.
Emma: ... well if I was anyone else I wouldn't trust Evan Rosier.
Emma: But
Emma looks at him
Emma: I'm Emma Vanity.
Emma: So I trust you.
Evan: Hold up now, why would nobody else not trust me?
Emma looks around again
Emma: Girls say that you lie about things.
Evan frowns a little although more curious than pissed
Evan: Like what exactly?
Emma: and that you've tasted fire whiskey before.
Emma whispers the word fire whiskey
Evan arches his eyebrow a little more and laughs quietly.
Evan: I've tasted fire whiskey before. . . My family do own the biggest Vineyards this side of the Atlantic. . .
Evan glances around for a moment before looking back at her.
Evan: How about we escape?
Emma looks at the ball
Emma: I simply couldn't
Emma: I'm in my mother fashion
Evan: But it's oh so hot in here. . . It wouldn't be long. . .
Emma: It's not that hot in here, Evan.
Emma song ends
Emma another boy tries to cut in
Emma raises her eyebrow questionably at said boy
Evan glares a little at him.
Evan: Can you not see we're dancing here. . .
Evan returns his attention to Emma as another song starts.
Emma: Yeah, off with you.
Emma waves her hand at him
Emma: Alright, Evan let's go somewhere
Emma: but not for long.
Emma: I'm a bit tired anyway and
Emma looks at her mother
Emma: She never watches me much.
Evan: Alright then. . .
Evan eventually breaks from hold keeping his grip on her arm as he guides her smoothly from the floor towards the hallway.
Emma walks with him
Evan guides her towards the balcony then.
Emma smiles at him
Emma: It is a lot cooler out here.
Emma: And I guess it's nice not to see you making those girls blush.
Emma doesn't really understand why it bothers her besides him being a best friend
Evan: It's much better. . . And do you have an issue with it Em? I noticed you blushing earlier.
Evan eventually stops letting his gaze go over the lit grounds.
Emma: Oh well, mother says blushing makes a girl more attractive....
Emma watches the grounds with him
Emma: So I just- I don't have an issue with it.
Evan: Well it does become you. . .
Evan smiles a little then.
Emma smiles and blushes at his words, realizes she is doing and puts her hand over her mouth
Emma: Well thank you.
Evan: Quite welcome.
Emma: You look very handsome your self, as always.
Evan: I have your mother to thank for this particular attire. . .
Emma: Oh really? I thought I recognized it.
Evan: Mm she designed it just for me this one. . . Rather honoured. . .
Evan: So. . .
Evan glances aside at her then.
Emma grins
Emma: I'm very proud of my mothers work.
Emma: Could I see- the stich on the back?
Evan: Uh. . . Sure?
Emma: And oh would you like to say something?
Emma smiles at "sure"
Emma goes over to him and looks at the tag on the back
Evan turns a little then.
Evan: And it can wait.
Emma is half hugging him while she tries to see what it says and she's on her tippytoes
Emma: I can-
Emma stretches her neck
Emma: I can see it.
Emma breathes deeply in
Emma: Woah...
Evan frowns a little with this as she half hugs him.
Evan: Good?
Emma lets go
Emma: That's so cool!
Emma: But yeah what did you want to say?
Emma is clearly pleased at what she saw and even giggles a bit
Evan nods a little with this.
Evan: I was going to ask whether you'd considered the marriage oredeal/
Evan: ordeal^
Evan turns to face her as he says this.
Emma: What do you mean?
Emma narrows her eyes, curiously but skeptical
Emma: Also aren't you curious to what's on your tag!
Emma: Or do you already know?
Evan: What do I mean?
Evan: And no. . . I don't know.
Evan looks at her a little in disbelief she questioned what he said.
Emma: It's a rose!
Emma: Didn't you check!
Emma grinning happily
Emma: And yeah, what do you mean?
Evan: Oh? Well that's nice. . .
Evan: And well I meant. Have you thought about. . . Who you're going to eventually marry?
Emma: You don't think it's just great?
Emma mystified why he doesn't care
Emma: Oh.
Emma: Well I don't have a choice, Evan.
Emma: I get to be given to some very lucky boy.
Evan: Well I know. . . But have you thought about it?
Emma looks at the floo
Evan: Just because you'll be given doesn't mean you haven't thought about it. .
Emma: *floor
Emma: I'm not suppose too..
Evan: So you have?
Evan: Come on. . . You can tell me.
Emma: ...
Emma: Yeah. I have.
Emma: But only with boys I could marry!
Evan: So you're saying you've talked about it with other people?
Evan frowns a little glancing at her.
Emma: ... No.
Emma: I haven't talked about it with anyone.
Emma: But I have thought about marriage and... choosing...
Evan: So who have you thought about choosing if you could?
Emma: ...
Emma: I don't think it's really any of your business Rosier
Evan: Come on Em. . .
Evan: You said you trusted me earlier. . .
Evan: So trust me.
Emma: It's not a matter of trust!
Emma: Maybe a girl should have secrets
Emma: maybe it's .... David
Emma looks at him nervously
Evan: . . . After what he did?
Evan: When dancing with you?
Evan shakes his head a little with this.
Emma: ... I said it could be.
Evan: It can't be.
Emma: Why not?
Emma: He made a small mistake.
Evan: Very large don't you mean?
Emma: How was it very large?
Emma: A man's eye can wander....
Evan: . . . He doesn't deserve you if he does things like that.
Emma: My parents would be the judge of that
Emma walks a bit closer to him and looks out to the lights
Evan senses her moving closer and glances aside at her before looking back to the grounds.
Evan: So you haven't considered anyone other than him? I know a better candidate. . .
Emma: I haven't considered him.
Emma: Just one person.
Emma: I'm a bit cold
Evan frowns a little with this and shrugs off his jacket moving this around her shoulders.
Evan: Well. . . I've considered someone. . .
Emma smiles and looks down holding it around her, admiring the red vest
Emma: Red looks good on you.
Emma: And who have you considered?
Emma pretending not to care
Evan: So long as it's burgundy. . .
Evan: Not the bright flashy. . .
Evan pauses as she queries who he'd considered.
Evan: Uh. . .
Evan: Well. . .
Emma: Burgundy looks good on you. agreed.
Evan: Maybe. . . Someone.
Emma: Someone?
Emma: Someone like who?
Evan: Uh. . .
Evan rubs a hand carefully through his hair.
Emma grins happily at him finally looking at him again
Evan glances at Em again for a second meeting her gaze.
Evan: You have. . . Some hair in your. . . Face.
Evan carefully brushes a stray strand aside then.
Emma looks at him, holding her breath, read in books this was suppose to be very exciting and romantic
Emma: uh- thanks.
Emma smiles a bit more and takes a step closer
Emma joined the chat
Evan pauses looking at her a little awkward as she stepped closer swallows nervously for some reason mentally kicking himself.
Emma bites her lip and shuffles her feet for a second
Evan seems a little awkward his posture tense before he quickly leans in and presses a kiss to her lips.
Emma presses her lips against him softly, very surprised
Emma moves in a bit closer
Evan seems a little surprised at her kissing him back although as read in his books he pulled her a little closer.
Emma can't believe she is being pulled in closer
Emma puts her arm around his neck and very, very slightly parts her lips
Evan seems to relax a little as she placed her arms around his neck his head tilting a little to the right before he realised what was happening and he broke away looking at her.
Evan: Think. . . That says who. . . I maybe. . . Considered. . .
Emma: ... oh
Emma: Me?
Emma points to herself
Emma: Well. You would be good choice too.
Emma nods her head
Evan: Uh. . . Well yes. . . You. . .
Emma: I have considered you at well...
Emma goes to hold onto the railing and looks away not knowing what to do
Evan nods a little wondering why they never wrote the awkward feeling he currently had into the books.
Evan: So. . .
Evan: Having. . . A er. . . Good evening?
Emma: ...
Emma: Are you leaving?
Evan: Leaving? Why. . . Where would I be going? Everyone else was boring at the party. . .
Emma: You said having a good evening....
Emma: And- I don't know?
Emma: Just.
Emma: Right. I'm having a good night.
Emma: I um-
Emma: I- that was my first kiss...
Evan: I was. . . Inquiring as to how your evening had been so far. . . Well it's good to know it was. . . Good
Emma: It was good.
Emma: .... I hope you didn't ruining me!
Emma points at him
Evan lets his eyes widen a little then.
Evan: What? How is. . . That?
Evan: It was my first kiss too okay!
Emma: ....
Emma: I just--
Emma: I'm not pure anymore.
Emma: And I'm only eight and a half.
Evan: How? Em. . . You're . . . Fine
Evan: Just. . .
Evan: Here
Evan takes his family ring from his finger and holds it out.
Evan: There. . . Just. . . Take it.
Emma: ....
Emma takes
Emma: ...
Emma: You ring?
Emma: Evan you simply can't!
Evan: No it's a necklace Merlin. . .
Evan: And I have so there.
Emma: ... Where is the chain?
Emma: ... oh was that sarcasm again?
Evan: Oh Merlin. . . Yes it was sarcasm
Emma nods happily
Emma: Does this mean...
Emma: Does this mean what I think it means...
Evan: Yes. . . Or I think so?
Emma: What does it mean then?
Evan: . . .
Evan: Aren't you going to tell me?
Liz Queen joined the chat
Emma: ...
Emma: You gave it to me/
Emma: It means what you think it means?
Evan: . . . I wouldn't have asked you about it. . . And then given it to you if I didn't think it meant something.
Evan: I'm going back to the party now. . . Unless I'm required to explain that too. . .
Emma: ....
Emma: Does this mean that we're going to get married?
Emma looks hopeful
Evan: . . . Yes I. . . Well yes.
Emma: ...
Emma: Really?
Emma: You can promise that!
Evan: I don't know! I just kissed you.
Emma claps her hand excitedly
Emma: Mother says I have to listen to males!
Emma: And you're a male!
Emma: And you're a heir!
Emma: AND SO this MUST be true!
Evan: . . . Well. . . I hope I'm a male otherwise that could be problematic. . .
Emma: I bet I'm the FIRST person to get arranged this young!
Emma: And to a Rosier!
Emma: Ew.
Emma: Don't even say things like that.
Emma looks him up and down
Evan: You're the one who clarified it Merlin.
Evan rolls his eyes.
Evan: I'm going inside now.
Evan shakes his head and walks past her to the hallway once more.
Emma: ....
Emma: Okay.
Emma giggles
Emma looks at the ring
Emma smiles and puts it on
Emma: Oh my goodness it's beautiful...
Emma: ...
Emma giggles
Emma: marriage!
Emma: ....
Emma giggles
Emma twirls
Emma: He might actually like me...
Evan keeps heading down the corridor back to the party.
Emma rushes at a good speed to find Liz
Emma: Liz?
Liz Queen: *sitting at a table* Yes, Emma?
Emma: Daivd things you're pretty!
Evan glances at Emma shoot past and heads over to the 'drinks' table.
Emma: But Evan thinks I'm pretty!
Emma: *prettier!
Emma takes out a fan from her little purse
Liz Queen: *eyes widen* What? Well of course he does. You look really pretty tonight.
Emma: I know!
Emma: It's the diamonds !
Emma: Anyway, Evan kissed me!
Emma fans herself
Evan has gotten himself some punch and a glass for Emma and Liz to be polite.
Evan carries these over to the table where they are and pauses for a moment.
Emma Carrying the fan closed and hanging from her left hand
Evan: Drinks for the ladies. . .
Liz Queen: He kissed you? Well, that's wonderful... *turns to Evan* Thank you.
Emma: ...
Emma takes the drink
Emma smiles
Emma: Thank you, Evan.
Evan inclines his head and places the drink down after Emma takes this from him.
Emma looks back at Liz
Evan: Quite welcome madame.
Emma: Then!
Emma: He gave me his ring!
Emma holds out her hand
Emma: Isn't it pretty!
Evan glances at Liz apologetically being stood behind Emma.
Evan mouthing awkwardly.
Evan: 'I'm Sorry'
Liz Queen: It's very lovely. *nods head with polite smile*
Emma grins
Emma looks at Evan
Emma: Are you sure you're allowed to give this to me?
Evan looks at Emma with this for a moment.
Evan: Uh. . . Yes?
Emma: ...
Emma looks back
Emma: I think it's simply marvelous
Evan: . . . Of course.
Emma: Evan said that we can get married now.
Emma: Should I trust him?
Emma looks at Liz expectantly
Liz Queen: ...Trust no one but yourself absolutely...
Liz Queen: But if you want to.. you can.
Emma looks at Evan
Emma: Sorry.
Emma: Liz said no.
Emma: I'm not suppose to trust you.
Evan: . . .
Liz Queen: *shrugs*
Emma: Should I give you the ring back-?
Evan: Well you can keep the ring.
Emma: ...
Evan: I have. . . Other places to be I suppose.
Evan: Good to. . . See you Liz.
Emma: ...
Emma: Where else must you be?
Evan: . . .
Emma looks at Annabelle
Evan: Not here. Obviously.
Emma then back at Evan
Emma: ... then where?
Liz Queen: Why not here Evan?
Evan looks at Liz and shakes his head a little.
Evan: I think my mother might be looking for me. Wouldn't want to keep her waiting.
Emma: ...
Evan knowing Emma can't argue with this.
Emma: You're lying.
Evan or won't.
Evan: No I'm not. She asked for me to check in with her on the hour. . . And it is by my timing on the hour.
Liz Queen: I suppose that's correct. Let him go Vanity, obviously he doesn't want to be around.
Evan looks at his watch and nods his head.
Emma: ...
Emma: He doesn't want to be around?
Evan: . . .
Emma looks between the two of them and sits down
Emma: I don't really feel like dancing anymore
Evan: I'm just. . . Not needed here by you I suppose.
Emma puts the ring back on her
Emma: So you don't want to be around me?
Evan looks at Liz and then to Emma and back again.
Evan: I what?
Emma pouts slightly and sips her punch
Evan: No. . . I just. . . Em. . .
Liz Queen: *hides a smirk behind her fan*
Emma: You shouldn't just be needed around....
Emma: I just- if you wanted to get away.... then go ahead....
Emma: No need to lie.
Emma turns towards Liz
Emma: I don't need you to lie
Evan glances at Liz a little awkwardly then and then to Emma.
Emma: no to me.
Evan shakes his head.
Emma: *not
Evan: No. My mother can wait.
Evan adjusts his jacket and moves to take the seat beside Emma not intimidated by Liz.
Evan not this time at least.
Emma: You sure?
Emma looks hopefully at him
Liz Queen: Oh she can? What a change in the time-span of two seconds.
Evan: . . . Yes I'm sure. Anyway, you seemed to require my presence more than she. So obviously the best thing would be to stay.
Evan gives a polite but stern smile to Liz as he took a drink of his punch.
Emma: That's very nice of you Evan.
Emma smiles at her two friends
Liz Queen: Nice indeed.
Emma: So what do you think of David, Liz?
Evan: I know.
Evan takes another sip of his drink.
Liz Queen: I find him to be a bore. But at least he's nice.
Emma: He's not that boring...
Emma: I laughed at his jokes.
Liz Queen: Of course you did.
Emma: What do you mean?
Evan just sits here taking occasional sips of his drink.
Liz Queen: Oh nothing, just that you have a lovely sense of humor
Emma looks at Evan
Emma: And what about Annabelle?
Emma: I do!
Emma smiles at Liz
Emma looks at the ring again
Evan: What about Annabelle?
Liz Queen: *nods politely*
Emma: hm?
Emma: Oh what do you think of her?
Evan: Me? Oh. . . She's not that great.
Emma: Then what could you have possibly been whispering her ear?
Emma is curious
Evan: . . . Nothing really important. I was bored and you were dancing.
Evan: With a guy who was looking at Liz here. . .
Evan shrugs a little taking another drink.
Emma: ...
Emma sighs
Emma: I don't see what's so wrong with me that my dance partner couldn't keep his eyes on me!
Liz Queen: He probably just thought I looked odd.
Liz Queen: Only reason he would look at me instead of you... of course.
Emma: True.
Evan looks at Liz a little confused then.
Emma opens up at fan and starts to fan herself again
Emma: *her
Emma: So maybe David could like me...
Evan: . . .
Evan looks back at Emma a little incredulously.
Liz Queen: Posisbility...
Evan and then back to Liz still incredulous.
Emma smiles at Liz
Liz Queen: *looks at Evan like, Hey who am I to ruin her fun*
Emma sips her punch and finishes it
Evan just shakes his head a little placing his glass down.
Emma stands up
Emma: I'm going to get me something else to drink- and possibly something to eat
Evan: Uh okay?
Emma: You two can...
Emma looks at them
Emma looks at them
Emma looks worried for a second
Emma: talk?
Emma: .....
Evan: . . .
Emma: Just... don't run off somewhere?
Liz Queen: ...
Evan: Uh. . .
Emma: ...
Evan looks at Liz before back to Emma.
Emma: ....
Emma looks at him and holds her breath
Emma: Unless you want to?
Emma says weakly
Evan: Uh. . . No it's fine. . . Where would I . . . Run to?
Evan: I'll just stay . . . Here.
Emma: Well...
Emma: with her-
Emma: I just
Emma shakes her head
Emma: Okay.
Emma goes off
Evan: . . .
Emma goes to the drink table
Liz Queen: . . .
Emma looks at all the punches
Emma can't really decided what she wants
Evan looks at Liz awkwardly.
Liz Queen: You picked wonderfully Evan.
Emma looks at the adult drinks
Evan: I did?
Emma wonders if Evan really tried Firewhiskey
Evan: I mean. . . Yeah. . . Of course.
Evan of course Evan has tried Firewhiskey.
Emma is a bit freaked out she kissed someone who could have drunk firewhiskey
Emma feels a bit weird
Emma doesn't like any of these punches anymore
Emma goes for pure orange juice
Evan looks at his empty glass for a moment.
Liz Queen: *just looks around boredly*
Evan: How's. . . Your evening been?
Liz Queen: There is never anyone interesting here.
Emma takes a cup pours some into it
Emma looks at Evan and Liz
Emma happy they haven't run offed
Liz Queen: So it's been boring
Emma continues her journey of food
Emma continues her journey of food
Emma goes to pick out grapes and strawberries
Emma looks around for something else
Evan: So why do they bore you? Surely they're not all. . . Terrible conversationalists. . .
Emma a lot of it is grown up food Emma does not want
Liz Queen: Because they do. They can't keep my interest. It's not their fault...completely.
Emma is upset at lack of food she can eat
Emma: ...
Evan: Well that's a shame. . . Not completely? So essentially it is?
Liz Queen: Yes. Exactly.
Emma takes some cucumbers
Evan: Mm. Curious mindframe that although I can sympathise . . .
Liz Queen: And yet you find Emma amusing.
Evan: She's the person I've known my entire life. . . But she does have some redeeming qualities. . . If you exclude the incessant chattering. . .
Evan looks thoughtful for a moment.
Emma takes more things that she doesn't know what they are
Emma and some rice balls
Emma is manzoku
Emma: **satisfied
Liz Queen: Oh yes. The self-centeredness. The shallowness. That irritating voice.
Evan pauses and looks away for a moment.
Evan: Well I can't argue about the voice but. . . She does have good taste in literature. . .
Liz Queen: Well, that might be the one thing that's fine about her.
Evan: And. . . She does have an interesting fascination with . . . Quidditch.
Evan shakes his head a little.
Evan: Would you care to dance?
Emma gets another two oranges
Evan: Give us something to do rather than sit here . . .
Emma gets another two oranges
Emma: *juices
Emma starts walking back
Liz Queen: *stares at him* I would say yes, but Vanity's walking back.
Evan hears this and sighs a little.
Evan: Well. . . It would've been nice. Although I suppose it's the best call with Em.
Liz Queen: Why, itching to dance with me?
Emma comes back
Emma puts drinks down
Evan: Of course.
Evan rolls his eyes.
Emma: What are you guys talking about?
Emma smiles
Evan: . . . Fashion obviously.
Emma: Really?
Liz Queen: All your wonderful qualities.
Emma looks around
Liz Queen: *big smile*
Evan: And that of course.
Emma: That's amazing!
Liz Queen: Why don't you tell her some of them.
Emma: I love my dress, was it about that?
Emma: Yes!
Emma: Do tell!
Evan: Oh gosh I've done enough tonight.
Evan: Liz why don't you share.
Evan: I need a refill. . .
Emma looks at Liz excitedly
Emma: I got you a refill!
Evan takes his glass and gets up leaving quickly.
Evan already gone.
Emma shows the two other glasses-
Emma: ...
Emma: Evan?
Liz Queen: Well you're so pretty. And your voice is just darling.
Liz Queen: ANd your love for Quidditch is fascinating.
Emma: Thank you!
Liz Queen: There's just so much
Emma: I love my voice.
Emma: Boys that my voice rivals an angels!
Emma looks at her excitedly
Emma: *tell me that
Liz Queen: I don't see why you wouldn't. And that sounds...perfect
Emma looks at her excitedly
Emma: *tell me that
Liz Queen: I don't see why you wouldn't. And that sounds...perfect
Emma nods agreeing
Emma: Liz?
Liz Queen: Yes?
Emma: ...
Emma: I would like it if I were to be allowed to married Evan for real.
Evan gets a refill of his drink with this then.
Evan glances over his shoulder at Emma and Liz just stalling.
Emma: But there are some things that even a Vanity can't have.
Evan turns back to the table fiddling with glasses.
Emma gives a weak smiles at Liz
Liz Queen: Well, you might be surprised.
Liz Queen: You may get him
Emma: I won't.
Emma shakes her head
Emma: My mother promised me disappointment
Liz Queen: My father promised me nothing, but sometimes, what we are promised and what we get are two different things.
Emma: ... Well my parents hardly make promises.
Emma: She seemed very sure in this regard.
Emma: But-
Emma nods
Liz Queen: If Evan wants you, he will have you. That's the end of that.
Emma: Evan is just a little boy like me.
Liz Queen: Yes, but one day we'll grow up.
Emma: Well. I'm not a little boy.
Liz Queen: And we wont be little
Emma: ...
Emma: you think it will mean something?
Emma looks at the ring unsure
The Proposed Plan
Evan seeks approval on asking for Emma's hand.
Sam's Lullaby
The Fatherâs face is stern and strong,
He sits and judges right from wrong.
He weighs our lives, the short and long,
And loves the little children.
The Mother gives the gift of life,
And watches over every wife.
Her gentle smile ends all strife,
And she loves her little children.
The Warrior stands before the foe,
Protecting us where eâer we go.
With sword and shield and spear and bow,
He guards the little children.
The Crone is very wise and old,
And sees our fates as they unfold.
She lifts her lamp of shining gold,
To lead the little children.
The Smith, he labors day and night,
To put the world of men to right.
With hammer, plow, and fire bright,
He builds for little children.
The Maiden dances through the sky,
She lives in every loverâs sigh,
Her smiles teach the birds to fly,
And give dreams to little children.
The Seven Gods who made us all,
Are listening if we should call.
So close your eyes, you shall not fall,
They see you, little children,
Just close your eyes, you shall not fall,
They see you, little children.
They were both on his bed, his curtains drawn and they have been here for hours. They feel into a comfortable silence. Emma was very picky about her silences. Emma loved filling gaps of conversation with her own voice, assuming the role of entertainer to the person she was talking to or more likely with her friends, pestering them to talk to her about whatever was bothering them. Silence between two people can be horrible. It could be awful, both parties feeling as if they should be talking- that something unspoken was there- but never with Evan. They kept no secrets. Their silences were always comforting. Although really the only times they shared silence was when they were reading which besides Evan's love for books was the reason Evan probably suggested they read together so much. So he can have some silence. Emma didn't mind- it didn't feel like silence when she was reading. It felt like she was connected to another world... but still holding on to the one piece of her world she wanted to keep.Â
Although right now she was tired of reading and her eyes were starting to close.Â
âEvan âŠâ Emma purred as she stretched out her arms and closed her eyes. Â
âWhat?â He asked, almost unaffected by her tone. His eyes flicked to her quickly though as she leaned herself on him, placing the book she was reading down on the ground.Â
âRead me a storyâŠâ she basically whined.Â
âBut I wasâŠâ He was reading and in the middle of a good book but she just wanted to hear his voice, hear a story. He had to stop.Â
âNo⊠I want a story. Please?â
âEurgh fine okay⊠â
Emma always listen to Evan's stories and words. She promised... but every time it ended the same way. His slow modulated voice was soon to much for Emma's heavy eyes that slowly started falling asleep. His words would start out like a rain fall. A slow drizzle where you can hear each individual raindrops just as Emma heard each individual word of the story. Soon the words would start to blend together, just as the rain would pour down harder, and the drops become indistinguishably  just as his words turned into sentences that Emma couldn't understand explicitly. She just understood the general story of everything- the feeling of it all even though Evan wouldn't change his voice for each character (no matter how many times Emma would ask for it) and yet his voice wasn't flat but it wasn't full of emotion either. It was subtle in his tone just as he was usually and Emma could tell from his movements, his little almost insignificant fluctuation in tone, how his muscle would contract and shift under her... just everything. She could tell the general feeling of the store. She sighed and laid more into him, her eyes closed.Â
And then the next part would happen- the story would be weaving together. Evan's voice stayed calm and steady- his voice finally teetering to the sleepier Evan voice- the one that faltered his dominating tone... the one only Emma got to here. The one that bleed with sweetness... the only person to ever hear it was her and she relished it because it was so far and in between... but it happened. Usually when he was tired and she couldn't even hear the words anymore... just the tone. She knew it was the there.Â
The words were lost on her sleepy spirit and his voice turned smooth and stitched together, weaving his sentence together like a well fitted ball gown. The fabric of the story felt like it was covering her as she felt completely comforted, she inhaled deeply, Evan shifted slightly his voice lowering but at the same time going closer to her ears. His arms tighten around her and she shifted comfortably in his arms.Â
I Will Always Find You 002
Soon the promise grew to something else entirely.Â
Emma was hiding in the closet in their master bedroom, holding her hand against her mouth as it not make a sound. She heard Oriax exclaimed loudly, âDADDY. I CANâT FIND MOMMY ANYWHERE.âÂ
Emma was struggling not to laugh. They have been playing hide and seek all day and Oriax was getting better at the game but still not have grasped it well enough to find Emma easily yet. Evan walked into the room to put something anyway and was a bit perplexed by his sonâs outburst.Â
âWhy canât you find mommy?â He asked him, bending down, forgetting why he had come in the room in the first place.Â
âWeâre playing hide and seek and mommy is too good at hiding. Iâve been searching for YEARS, daddy!â He said, pouting. Evan laughed at his son and looked around the room grinning.Â
âNeed help son? I bet I can find her!â He said, quite heroically.Â
Oriax clapped his hands excitedly, looking at his father in a complete state of awe.Â
Evan looked around the room, exaggerating each of his movements, he seemed to think about it for a moment and then he smiled and moved towards the closet straight away.
Emma was so surprised it was the first place he checked and when he opened the doors to find her there she couldnât help but pout and ask, âHow did you find me?âÂ
âDarling. I will always find you.âÂ
I Will Always Find You
The first time he said it, his voice was desperate and panicked. He was hugging her, her tears not being able to stop and Evan just wanted to promise her the world.Â
He didnât find her, Jason did but Evan vowed it be the last time.Â
âI will always find you. No matter where you go- no matter how far.â He said, his eyes brimming with tears because he couldnât get her to stop.Â
The seemed to lessen slightly at those words. He took a deep breath, was that it?Â
He was desperate so he kept repeating the promise. âI will always find you, I will always find you, I will always find you.â He said, kissing her each time, his eyes closed trying not to see the imagine of her crying but it was already burned into his mind. Her cries began to subside and slowly there was no crying and just him mumbling the promise in the dark. She couldnât talk- she was worried if she opened mouth sheâd start crying again and Evan didnât deserve that. Â
Soon she grew tired of her crying, it was draining her quickly and his arms around her were protectively holding her and soon she was able to go to sleep, with him muttering the promise in her ears while slowly stroking her hair and pulling her in as close as possible. Her shoulder was wet and so was her cheeks but she wasnât sure whose tears they were.Â
Evan Rosier gripped Emmaâs hand tightly before entering the small little music store in Muggle London. A muggle was trying to exit the store at the same time they were trying to enter and Evan had tugged on her hand quite forcefully, bring her closer and away from any contact. He grumbled, his eyes scanning the store automatically, first counting the muggles, to make sure there were no surprise and because Evan was never caught unaware and then finding what they came here for so they could get out as quickly as possible. His eyes found the record players and he walked purposely that way, Emma having no choice but to follow him and match his walk.Â
Evan stood in front of a simple black one and nodded at it and then looked at Emma.Â
âThis one.âÂ
But he found Emmaâs gaze else where. âI want this light green one.â Emma said, memorized by this small record player.Â
Evan turned up his nose, âEmma- itâs too- no itâs just unacceptable.â
Emma seemed to consider this but her eyes never left the record player. âWould you ever use this?âÂ
Evan gave a slight laugh. âNever.â he said seriously and confidently.Â
Emma smiled. âGood. Itâs settled. Iâm getting this one. I wouldnât want you using my record player anyway.âÂ
Evan slightly frowned. âHey- but I let you use mine all the timeâŠâÂ
âNow you wonât have to and you wonât touch mine so I guess we both win.â She said, nodding her head definitively, bending down slightly to pick up one of the boxes that held the green player.Â
Evan balanced on the heels of his feet for a second, hesitating to speak, unable to find the correct words he settled for.Â
âBut it just looks soâŠÂ girly.â He said, putting his hands in his pocket.Â
Emma shot him a look, frowning. âNo one asked you. Next time donât come. And I promise you Iâll bring you something frilly and pink to wear. Then youâll know âgirlyââ She said, shaking her head and holding the box tightly.Â
Evan couldnât help but laugh at her huffy attitude and when she turned around to go up to the register he smiled softly and gripped her shoulder lightly, turning her back around to face her.Â
âWhat?â She asked, trying to convey a hurt tone after he insulted the record player she wanted but her tone came out much friendly then she had wanted because his smile was unfortunately, infectious to her. A smile soon crept on face as well.Â
Evan grinned a bit broader- still amazed he could do that to her with just a smile before he gently cupped her cheek bringing her into a gentle kiss.Â
âNothing. Just- I had almost forgotten to kiss you like that today.â Evan said, smiling and walking up to the till before Emma could react. Evan will not allow the dynamic to switch today. He had decided to have the upper hand today and heâs not  about to lose it with Emmaâs little demands of defiance He will keep her on her toes. He was also going to pay for this damn record player even though he did not enjoy it.Â
The first time they slept together it wasnât anything special.Â
The rare moments Evan would give into Emmaâs excessive pleads to do something with her it would always turned into something like this, but this was the very first time they had went quite so far.Â
They were on his bed,( which has happened many times before as they became default study partners because of Emmaâs pestering first year to study together turning into a default habit that neither really thought about ) school books sprawled around them and they had finished all their homework and had studied everything and anything they had gotten up to in their classes. But Evan was having a good time and he couldnât help but feeling a slight ache in him- wanting her to stay. So when Emma suggested he read to her, Evan didnât object even a little bit even though he usually would. He opened up the book he was in the middle of and began reading, his voice was low and modulated. He started reading exactly where he had left off and didnât consider the fact Emma might have wanted him to start from the beginning. Emma, for once, didnât protest anyway and she slowly sunk down onto his pillow, watching him read. Evan moved in closely, propping himself up with his arm- the book in between them, Evan purposely positioning it so he wouldnât be able to see her face for sometimes her sleeping form distracted him and - well he didnât really understand it. He kept reading and as the night went on and all his dorm mates fell asleep, he got closer and closer and his voice lower and lower as to not awake the other and because he was getting tired. Soon he was unable to keep his arm and head up- resorting to putting his head on the pillow with her. Then an hour after that he was unable to lift the book in between them and finally put the book down on the table next to his bed and when he faced back around he was face to face to a small, steadily breathing, sleeping Emma Vanity. His breathe caught- for he was just so surprised that she was asleep and he had never really been this close to her. He rationalized he was just pleased she was quiet for once and too tired to do anything else his eyes slowly felt heavy and he soon closed them, drifting off to sleep.Â
Nothing special.Â
Emma awoke to the sound of whimpering. She blink a few times, her eyes trying adjusting to the darkness. She gave out a yawn and took the book that was on her face off it, letting it fall onto the floor with a light thud. She scratched her head and sighed, annoyed that she was plunged out of her sleep. Her eyes finally adjusting, followed by the acute sound of whimpering  flooding her head again. Her eyebrows automatically furrowed, unsure of the sound and why it sounded so close. She turned her head to see Evan.Â
âOh.â She said softly. She must have fallen asleep again with him after studying. His usual calm demeanor had changed. He was whimpering, his face was scrunched up as if he was in pain, his eyes shut tight as if was bracing himself for something. He seemed to be slightly sweating.Â
He started mumbling a bit coherently. It was quiet and stressed but Emma could hear everything quiet clearly, since she was so close.Â
âStop, no. Please-âÂ
Could he possibly be awake? Emma sleepily thought, trying to focus on him. No- he was clearly asleep just having a nightmare? Did this happen a lot? She had slept next to him before and this hadnât happened. What could he be dreaming about?Â
âSir- Stop, enough. I learned my lesson- Please-â
She felt her heart sank. Knowing what it must have been- he was dreaming of his father teaching him a lesson. She frown, her desire to help poor little Evan growing with every passing second exponentially.
She reached out to touch him, her fingers grazing his arm. He seemed to settle a bit, his body seemed shocked at the contact and it paused everything very briefly but it started to resume seconds later, albeit less frazzled.Â
The words were about to come on again and Emma couldnât help but try something else. Her hand traveled down to his and she held it- hopefully showing him he wasnât alone and this seemed to help him. She even felt him lightly respond back, his hand faintly gripping hers. She smiled lightly but she soon frowned again- he was still under some stress. After some hesitation, for fear heâd wake up and be mad at her for her next action, she quickly pulled him into a hug, wrapping her arms around him carefully. Her hands finding the back of his head to bring him even closer to her.  He seemed to almost relax into her and she closed her eyes and kissed his temple. He responded by wrapping his arms tightly around waist, bringing her in closer and Emma thanked the fates that it was dark and he was asleep because she started blushing profusely.Â
âArmen Kleinen Evan.â She softly. âSehr traurig.â She said nodding into him. He seemed calmer now magically as she wrapped herself around him. His breathing was becoming steady but Emma kept quietly whispering to him, letting her fingers run through his hair.Â
âlangsam langsam, Youâll get better. langsam langsam, Youâll feel better.â She closed her eyes, still extremely tired and feeling she could sleep now that Evan was okay. âEverything is going be okay. Iâm here.âÂ
She yawned and he pulled her in tightly and she couldnât help but think how heâd never do that when he was awake. Heâd never try anything like this with her. It was so- peaceful. Calming. Amazing and yet the best she could get were kisses when they won a game. Her heart was beating too fast. She closed her eyes again. He jolted again when Emma tried to take his arm off her so he wouldnât have a heart attack when he woke up but he responded with holding her tighter- his nightmares must be horrible. She bit her lip, studying his face closely, as she keeps finding herself doing lately. He seemed okay now. How long have these been going on?Â
Emma closed her eyes again, concluding it was useless to try and resist and she didnât really want to. She knew it be over in the morning and Evan, who usually woke up first, would wind up leaving her and probably freaking out that he has his arms around her but that was a problem for morning Evan. Not Emma.Â
She yawn again and snuggled herself into him more, figuring there was no harm in that action since he wouldnât know. She stayed up for at least another hour or two before she was able to fall asleep. A mixture of her heart beating too fast from the contact of him and her worrying that she wasnât enough to stop the nightmares the plagued his mind. She eventually fell asleep only to be awoke to an empty bed.Â
