Tower Junkie "Problems".

Long days and pleasant nights... This blog is a collection of exactly what it sounds like -- situations and scenarios encountered only by fans of Stephen King's Dark Tower series. The "problems" part is in the vein of other, similar submission-based blogs, but of course... do we really regard these situations as true problems...? I didn't think so. This blog cannot exist without input from you. If you have a 'problem', please do offer it as a text string through either the submit function or the ask function. (If one similar enough exists, I will post the link for it so you can reblog that one instead.) About the Junkie I was in the middle of the fourth book when I began this blog, and now I've seen the inside of the Tower for myself. It still unnerves me that after all this time, I have seen the end, but I know it is only a literary end -- the journey goes on as long as I draw breath, and as long as the words "The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed" still bear their immense weight. I walk beside you all.

In my minds eye and before the comics came out I always imagined jake (what he came to be, a hardened gunslinger not the prep school kid we meet him as) to look similar to young roland. Different colored hair but similar in stature and facial structure. King makes him become as close as a son to roland as he can. I think its just ka's wheel. He is his son on some universe. My mind just made it happen. Anyone else have that?

I definitely feel you on this.

Roland in Wizard and Glass? I've always thought Kurt Russel would be able to pull off the perfect Roland at his current age. He has the gruff look, bombarder eyes and has demonstrated quite well that he can put on a serious badass face as in Death Proof. I honestly couldn't name anyone else since Clint is obviously too old.

Kurt Russell does have a certain ruggedness about him that I can appreciate, even though I feel like he might be approaching the now-too-old threshold himself…

If there was ever a Wizard and Glass movie made, what actor would be your choice to play Young Roland?

Now that is a tough question.

Actors of colour and older actors have been my focus of interest lately, so I haven’t much knowledge of younger actors barring the faces you see everywhere (none of which I believe have the right amount of earnestness or the right blend of youthfulness and gravitas).

A fine opportunity to open it up to our fellow gunslingers, then— who do y’all think would make a fine Young Roland, and why?

I see people talking about the comics and would like to add something. loneseeker1990 is correct about the arcs as they go. But this latest one "So Fell Lord Perth" (a oneshot) is the last one for now. Whether or not they make more, who knows.
