are the eels safe? - yes. this was a temporary situation with all of them in the same tank. they no longer live together and aren’t even owned by the person who put them together to begin with
why are they gasping? - that’s how they push water over their gills when sitting still
why are they all in the same cave?? are there not enough hiding places??? - this was during a water change of a 220 gal tank. they had room to separate, but were agitated at the time due to disturbance from the water change
can i keep eels together like this? - im not an expert on eels by any means but they can be territorial, so i wouldnt recommend it
