In her mind, it made sense since he was obviously older and more experienced. He worked with children so he knew what to do.

“Me? Teach anyone how to fit in, of all things? I suppose I could make an attempt, in theory, but I’m inclined to be perfectly honest with you; the kind of act I myself put on is no way to make real friends.”

Would someone like Trace even produce remnant, he wonders? That’s not all he’s wondering, however. Curiosity continues to win out over homicidal urges and his unique metaphysical “hunger”.

“Maybe… it’s better to make friends with people you already have something in common with. That’s the way it’s beginning to look to me recently, at least. You might look like a human child, but you were very insistent that you’re not, a moment ago, so… maybe you’d be better off socializing with other anomalies, instead?”
