After spending the morning piddling about, you head out to Dr. Tawfiq's home.

The port city of A'jweh sprawls below you, a bustling monument to the achievements of this galaxy's people. Many different species call the city home, and it is often the first stop for new arrivals to the planet. It has the planet's largest seaport, spaceport, and portal nexus, truly making it the crossroads of SOTAR.

Also, I'm not really happy with the linework I was doing before, so I'm trying something new. Let me know if you like it! While enjoying your culturally exploratory breakfast, you receive a letter. It is from Arafa Tawfiq, a professor of Checkers' and a fellow scholar of Sotarian history. Eccentric, enthusiastic, and quite frankly loaded, her advancing age keeps her from fieldwork, but she is more than happy to fund the efforts of her younger peers. It seems she wants to meet with you two to discuss your debut into the practical aspects of Sotarian archeology.

A shahh of the Tropica clan, Lilac is boisterous and friendly with a passion for metalworking. They moved to SOTAR to get their hands on the mana-touched metals of that strange planet. They live with their roommate and longtime friend, Checkers.

CHECKERS VATTAN

The brains of this operation. Also the impulse control.

Checkers is part of the Fimsar clan, and is much more subdued than their friend Lilac. Their chosen field of study is in the numerous ancient mysteries of SOTAR, which is why they moved to this unusual planet. They live with their roommate and longtime friend, Lilac.

Since Lilac and Checkers are both shahhs with only a passing familiarity with human cuisine, it takes them a while to figure out breakfast. They manage it eventually, though.
