frank warned donnie about the end of the world, and the main cause of it is king paimon, so donnie has to stop him to prevent armageddon.

so the ending of the story is either;

donnie saves peter from getting possessed by paimon, saves the world, and donnie gets back to the past and gets killed by the turbine, and peter won’t remember about him at all, just a boy that got killed by a plane turbine

donnie failed and paimon possesess peter, which makes donnie lost peter
