This was all he could do. Sit up in a hospital bed clenching his hands into tight fists. Days now running into a full week. A few days that he’d been put into a near-death situation, a few days not knowing what was going on. His heart ached for his precious team. Boruto, Mitsuki, and Sarada. So much did he lay on his shoulders - - - protect them at all cost. Sora had stayed to make sure Sarada was safe while Sasuke was away fighting the Otsutsuki men. Worry in his heart that Boruto could possibly get harmed in such a tedious battle but he had to keep face, right ? Yet. . .he could do nothing to stop a lurking Otsutsuki from approaching the village. It was as if he were doing some sort of recon, gathering intel. There was no way Sora’d let him continue so he had chosen to battle him - - -

It didn’t end well but he had put up a good fight. The only thing that stopped him from heading into the abyss was the vision of a long lost friend. The tingling of his scar that marred his face had kept him hanging on. His best friend was still out there wandering through the shadows and here he was. . .in a hospital. His heart hurt, his chest became heavy. Hot tears had begun to fall from his eyes and fell onto the fabric. In frustration, he yelled aloud, ❝ I’m not fit to be a captain ! I can’t even find a friend and bring him home ! I can’t believe I’m this weak ! ❞ Frustration turning to anger and anger into resentment. Aimed at himself. Unbeknownst to him that there was someone nearby. He needed guidance, it didn’t matter from who. He wasn’t the soft sugar coating words kind of person --- he was never taught that when he was younger. He never knew what that kind of love was.

Sᴏʀᴀ ᴀɴᴅ Sᴏᴍᴀ

These two have been inseparable since they first met. Sora met him around ten years old. Soma was older by two years, his superior. When Sora’s parents wasn’t around to train him, Soma was assigned to him to watch his progress. He was the rock Sora was grounded on. Unconditional support from the other boy when all he wanted to do was give in. The training methods were so harsh on him that he wanted to quit. Soma was there to lift him back up - - - now he wasn’t the type of guy who was open but he still cared. Soma’s the type of person to stand firm in what he believes true. He’s the type of guy who watches and listens from the shadows. A cruel-looking face but a genuine heart, some within the foundation of assassins called him a demon, but Sora thought otherwise. What demon would help another person ? Soma had earned the nickname demon because of his summons --- it wasn’t human nor was it anything the likes any shinobi has ever seen before. A descendant of an unknown clan who could converse with animals and who made contracts with those called mononoke spirits.

Fᴀsᴛ ғᴏʀᴡᴀʀᴅ - - sʜᴏʀᴛ ᴀɴᴅ sᴡᴇᴇᴛ

The one who was assigned to kill Sora was Soma. Two of his followers murdered his parents that day. Sora had been fighting Soma and it had gotten out of control. His friend’s summoning had taken him over, like a shadow. Nothing but darkness covered him from head to foot. It was that darkness that lashed out and created a scar across Sora’s face. To carry out orders - - - that was their foundation’s lifestyle, no matter what. Sora was to be eliminated but that didn’t happen. noticing the damage, Soma had regained a small semblance of himself enough to flee the scene. He never had any intention to hurt his best friend. That day Sora had lost everything. His parents, his best friend, and now himself. Until Naruto came along. His goal ? To become stronger to bring his friend home.

this is something he doesn’t talk to a lot of people about but - - - back when he was an assassin he’d made a friend. a unique shinobi who would always have a mononoke summoning cat . he was the one who helped with sora’s training, he had been there when all sora wanted to do was give up . just a couple years older than him, sora looked up to him like a younger brother. they were two halves of the same coin. sora was the sky that the darkness of his best friend settled on.

this was also the best friend who had given him his scar .

small headcanon: another reason his parents were killed --- they were trained to make sora obedient, not for him to love. The father went through with the orders. He was the typical stereotypical man that pretended to not show vulnerability but when it came to his wife and what affected her, it was different. The mother, however, didn’t like the orders given so she dismissed them --- she had told sora that if she were to bear a child that he or she would not know of the horrid things of this world and for him / her to live their life with love for themselves and also others. Because of her decision to ignore orders, their own teammates followed their orders through on killing them.
