Post-war Rayllum AU!
So a while back I had a dream about Callum and Rayla in a post-war TDP world. I turned that dream into an AU and posted it on my Wattpad back then. Figured I could post it on Tumblr too since I have no new ideas for posts. Feel free to comment your own HCs or draw this AU (I'd love to see it if you do :3 )
Headcanons:
When the war ended, Callum and Rayla went their separate ways for a while. Rayla went back to her old home to get a mental break, while Callum started traveling around Xadia to learn to use all the primal sources of magic.
Time passed, and the main trio eventually reunited. Rayla and Callum were young adults at this time (around 20-21 years old). They bonded once again and grew even closer than before. Eventually, they decided to start dating. Not long after, they moved in together into the castle.
Around that time, reports of criminal gangs started coming in. These gangs were groups of humans or elves who didn't want the two lands to be at peace with each other. They refused to get along with the other race, broke the law and scared citizens. When their actions became more serious, the power couple started tracking down and arresting these people.
In fact, they did such a good job that Ezran, being the king now, knighted them and gave them the mission to keep capturing the gang members. This has been their job ever since.
Since Callum now knows how to use all primal sources, he uses the magic he knows during the missions. He and Rayla can travel faster, track down criminals and use spells to capture them. He also fights using magic.
Rayla has been training too and is even faster and more agile than before. She certainly keeps her title as one of the greatest elven warriors alive. During missions, she mainly sneaks into the base and silently takes down as many criminals as possible. Sometimes she even turns it into a game, seeing how many guys she can capture while Callum times her.
Also, Callum can't help but flirt even when they're about to enter a base. Rayla mostly rolls her eyes at him, but sometimes she'll respond in an even flirtier way, just to fluster him.
Whenever they've cleared a base from criminals, they always "high-four". Callum bends his pinky finger in so he only has four fingers up. That way they match. (Yes, this hc was based on that end credits art where they do this lol)
Sometimes Callum keeps holding her hand after they high-four and kisses it.
Of course, their job can be difficult. If one of them has gotten hurt during a mission, you can bet the other one will take care of them until they feel better. Also, if one of them feels tense after a hard day, the other one will massage them.

Ok so, I just finished the last episode of the new season and I loved it so much. In fact, this is one of the few times I’ve cried when watching an episode of a show (not counting sad series finales). I’m just gonna rant about this episode in this post because it had a huge impact on me.
Alright, let me start with Bow. I always thought he was a good character. Not amazing, not mediocre. Just a pretty enjoyable character. At least, that’s what I thought before I saw this episode.
As some fans might have guessed before, there was a lot more to his character than we knew. It turns out that he has parents who love him, but who wanted him to take a certain path in life. Though, he wanted to be a warrior in the rebellion instead of a historian like them. He kept his true self a secret, since he thought they wouldn’t accept that part of him.
I saw all of this, and I started crying. I cried because I didn’t see an ordinary good character anymore; I saw myself. When Bow looked terrified as he saw Adora and Glimmer in his parents’ house, I saw myself worrying about whether my parents will find out about my Internet friends or not. When Bow hurriedly explained his situation to them, I saw myself admitting to my friends that I can’t hang out with them because my parents want me to study all the time. When Bow talked to Glimmer in private later, I heard my life story. My parents, who always wanted me to become a computer engineer like my dad. My parents, who became really mad when I told them I wanted to become an animator instead. My parents, who I’m afraid of opening up to ever since.
I could feel my heart ache when Bow finally told his dads everything. Then, when they accepted him, when his lying days were over, when he didn’t have any more secrets to hide, I cried. That whole scene just moved me so much. It gave me hope: maybe some day, that’ll be me with my parents. Maybe I’ll finally find the courage to open up to them again in the future. Maybe I can be free, if I just wait a little longer.
Honestly, I’ve seen several characters like this in other shows/books before. So why am I so affected by Bow in particular? Well, I think his situation felt so realistic. For example, it’s often obvious from this type of character’s personality that they have parent issues. That’s not the case with Bow, and no one I know has figured out my situation solely based on my personality either. Another example is Bow’s relationship with his parents before opening up. While many characters and their parents hate each other, Bow knows that his dads love him, and he loves them too. My parents are usually kind and loving to me, or at least when I hide my true self. The way Bow acted and spoke throughout the episode also felt so realistic to me. I just think that this issue was portrayed so well.
