New AU
I really can't keep doing this to myself, I cannot be writing this shit, I haven't even wrapped up enough projects to do anything with the Diplomatic Relations AU yet, but . . .
Found a song I won't post because YouTube autoplayed it, and I thought it was rad just to find out oh it's actually AI and goddammit fuck the autoplay system, BUT it did give me ideas so I'm going to have no guilt about ripping it off and not crediting anyone
So it's canon that the Moonshadow are considered creepy/dangerous even to other Xadians in canon, right. My running theory for in canon is that it's aftereffects of the Cult of the Blood Moon, mostly, but what if it isn't? What if it started way earlier than that?
What if the Moon Nexus being on the wrong side of the Breach wasn't a mistake, or a coincidence, or a concession? What if they were supposed to stay there?
The Moonshadow having to get ever craftier and sneakier and fighting for their place on the human side of the Breach. The political landscape of Katolis being very different - the humans eventually beat them back, but defending their home in the mountains, the Moonshadow held their own enough that Katolis gave up trying to exterminate them. They were pressed to the forests bordering on Xadia and allowed to remain there, still removed from the ruins left of their cliffs and mountains and furious about it.
The Cult of the Blood Moon still existed, still hunted into Xadia using the Moonstone Path. Kim'dael fled there from the combined forces of Katolis and the Moonshadow assassins, rather than from Avizandum, and Aditi captured her anyway. Moonshadow Forest is her domain.
Tiadrin and Lain never left for the Dragonguard because the Moonshadow weren't welcome in Xadia, but Rayla still grew up an assassin, because that's what they are. The remaining Moonshadow warriors are near-exclusively assassins, killers with the full intent of pressing back into Katolis and regaining access to the Moon Nexus, by whatever means necessary. These Moonshadow didn't bow to their dragons and evacuate, these Moonshadow didn't participate in forcing the humans out just to then flee the scene, these Moonshadow were betrayed from both sides and have no mercy left to give.
Runaan's assassins don't come to Katolis to kill Harrow after the death of Avizandum. They come to kill Viren after the deaths of Tiadrin and Lain, on a scouting mission - they crossed paths as he and Harrow returned, and Viren took the chance of "collecting" them.
Rayla still hesitates. Katolis is still tipped off. But the Moonshadow oaths are not magical bindings around wrists for the sake of dragons not their own - they are oaths on their own blood to spill more for the sake of those they've lost, and so they just lie in wait. They'll get another chance. Rayla hates waiting, though, so she still tries to sneak in to avenge her parents. She finds Callum - not her target, not even believed to be her target, and just wants answers from him. He runs, she pursues, they find Ezran . . . and then they find the dungeon, and she realizes with sickening clarity that this mage she's hunting has taken so much more than just her parents.
That the increased tension along the border might be because he framed her parents.
Ezran and Callum tell her with certainty that King Harrow didn't agree to continue terrorizing her people.
So instead of joining forces to rescue the dragon egg and make peace with the dragons, the kids join forces to clear their parents' names. Ezran insists on saving the egg too, though - it's just a baby, after all. So they do, because even in this world Rayla's got a soft heart, and so does Callum.
I wonder if I could spin this to have Viren go off the rails earlier, with more access to magic with the Moonshadow still in Katolis, and force Harrow and Runaan to join forces to hunt down the man who's after their kids.
My heart for Xadia.
🐉 The Dragon Isle (Fake Screenshot) 💙
I've drew them in fanart like a 3d style. Maybe they should a redesign. This fanfic was either fantasy, family, adventures & romance (represented both heterosexual & queer/LGBTQ) 💗.
The chapters will be coming soon 😁.

ok but wouldn't it be the funniest thing if Startouch elves have to restart from scratch every time their physical body gets killed
like imagine Aaravos's stars align and then the dragang is faced with a physically-seven-years-old-but-mentally-ancient Aaravos who remembers everything that's happened but is like half Ezran's height and all chubby-cheeked and big-eyed
Still thinking about TDP Plays Tabletop AU and at some point, Aaravos just drops them in an illusion of the game so they can take things just a little more seriously.
Aaravos, like Coran in vtld, plays all the npcs and changes form accordingly
New and improved The Feline Prince Claudia design! I could not pass up the opportunity to make her an oriental shorthair
I wanna draw silver witch claudia soon hehe. Think I'm gonna complete the aaragang first
Never posted this fan art for @thrandilf 's epic multi-chapter fic The Devil You Thought You Knew where Aaravos & Callum have an Enemies to Friends arc. Highly recommended!
