My 82 year old grandma showing us a thing or two about flexibility, and more importantly excuses. It's supposed to be a given that we get less flexible with age - my grandma shows that's simply a choice most people make. Keep working at something consistently and you can get pretty much whatever you want. So my question for you and I both today is this - where in your life are you making excuses when in reality it's your own actions (or inaction) that are really to blame? And my challenge for you is simple - start DOING something this week you know you should be doing but have been letting your excuses get in the way of what you want.

Protein bars. They mostly taste like cardboard and are often packed with sugar... HOWEVER, when you're super busy or somewhere where fibre and protein is hard to get in your diet (whenever you're away from home or on holiday usually) then these protein snacks can save your diet and be a game changer when it comes to staying on track. These Grenade Carb Killa bars (despite the slightly scary name) taste absolutely "how can this not be naughty" incredible - the BEST protein bar I've tasted and with some of the best ingredients too. So whilst we always recommend getting 80% of your diet from whole foods, these bars (or Quest bars) are a great alternative when you're craving something naughty. We all get cravings from time to time and these could just save you from blowing out on something genuinely unhealthy (plus these are packed with fibre and protein so they'll keep you full for ages unlike regular snacks).
Late night gym session with the girlfriend. Consistency is so important when it comes to seeing results. Even though it was 10pm and we were feeling tired, we got down there and got a workout in anyway. One amazing workout every now and then will have little or no effect. Good workouts done consistently and consistently sticking to your nutrition targets are the keys to a jaw dropping transformation. Time to get some rest now as a lot of the changes from all that hard work in the gym happen when we're resting! -Rob (at Pure gym Burnham)
Compromise. A lot of people do it when it comes to "dieting" and it's simply not necessary! You can eat big satisfying delicious meals and still get in shape. In our experience, starvation diets where you're forced to eat tiny salads and drink unsatisfying diet shakes are a train wreck waiting to happen. No sane person can stick to such an unsatisfying regime and when it all gets to much the inevitable binging on chocolate (and maybe even a bottle of wine) usually means all the hard work is undone anyway. Not only does this make you feel like a failure but it also doesn't get you the results you want - a lose lose! In our experience, fuelling the body properly and combining that with empowering weight training (which boosts your metabolism so you can eat MORE FOOD) is a much more enjoyable and sustainable approach.
