Thirlmere Festival of Steam
Australia's premier steam event since 1989
Since 1989, the annual Festival of Steam at Thirlmere has grown to become Australia’s premier steam event.
It’s a community celebration of steam and nostalgia where locomotives of all kinds travel from afar, awakening the quaint village of Thirlmere with the enchanting echo of a steam whistle. Throughout the village, there’s all the fun of a country fair to be had with great markets & music, rides & relics.
The Festival of Steam is a unique and enjoyable event for the whole family!
More steam than ever before... six locos!
The Thirlmere Festival of Steam has always been famous for its line up of steam locomotives, but in 2015 - we're raising the bar! Get up close with six operating steam locomotives including:

3016 - from Canberra Railway Museum.
