I need to work on self-acceptance. While I've been taking steps in the correct direction I'll never truly be able to move forward through transitioning without it.

You must believe in your dreams more than the possibility of failure. You must listen to your heart’s voice above all other voices telling you that it’s not possible. Your dreams are magnificent, and they’re waiting for you.

Sometimes the smallest, silliest things feel like huge accomplishments ✨ . One of my favorite parts of transition is experiencing the things I always envied. I had shoulder length hair as a kid, but refused to style it or do ponytails or use bobby pins. I rejected anything that would make me seem like I was doing something “feminine”… even though that’s what I really wanted. As I grew up, my hair got shorter and shorter as I repressed my feelings more and more. Now I have so many hair styles I want to try, and little things like being able to do a braid are really meaningful to me.
10 questions to never ask a transgender person by Laura Jane Grace
You are trans enough. 💖
Wanting to be Trans does not Mean Choosing it.
I know this might sound outrageous, but figuring out that you’re trans can be a complex and emotional process. It is not inaccurate to say that some trans people “want to be trans” (or did what to be before they realised they were).
This does not mean that any given cis person thinking to themselves “I want to be trans” is trans, that wanting to be trans makes someone trans, but that many trans people do, at some point, “want” to be.
Because, for a questioning trans person, the alternative to being trans is not to be cis. The alternative to being trans is not to happily be one’s birth gender. It is to be a miserable, with no explanation for why they feel the way they do, whether that’s outright distress or a general but unceasing sense of unease. It’s to think of oneself as sick, or a freak, or broken, or a pervert, or one of many other awful things they might think of themselves. If nothing else, the alternative is to be alone in feeling the way they do—to not recognise that there are others like them.
For such a questioning trans person, to realise that they are trans is to stop hating themselves. (Potentially; I know it is not always so easy.)
But they still wanted to be trans. That’s what they felt, and it may linger. They may feel like an imposter—how often are trans women mocked for “wanting” to be female?—but they are not. Many trans people do want to be trans. Not all. But everyone experiences things differently, and many do. This does not mean they chose to be trans. They already were, while they wanted to be.
So when transmedicalists et al say “trans people don’t want to be trans”, or “people who want to be trans are transtrenders”, I worry about the harm this causes for trans people who are questing or still uncertain in their identity.
This is an excellent way of describing the kind of harm that transmedicalism can do to the community. Questioning people have a lot to contend with and don’t need that kind of bullshit potentially harming them.
And yet, transmedicalists will not stop no matter how much harm they might do. I don’t think they’re actually capable of it.
A few realizations:
1. I have a lot of internalized transphobia.
2. I don’t think I’ll ever get over doubts about being transgender but I have to move forward anyways.
3. I have a lot of shame about being transgender.
4. I feel guilty about how my transition will affect my parents.
I am the “T” in LGBTQIA. I am the person the Neo nazi’s/Trump supporters (yes, they have made it clear that they are one in the same) try to erase and fight against every single day. But i am educated. I am black. I’m loud, proud, and i live by the rules and image expectations I’ve put on myself, not like that of our very flawed and broken society. In these intense, right wing ‘destroy all that is peaceful’ times, i am ready and willing to fight for/represent a free America. So I have two things on my checklist to do before starting HRT. The goal is to have them both done by Monday. Wish me luck!!
So just heard back and I was able to bank 5 vials of sperm. Is that enough or should I bank more?
Today is a step in the right direction thanks to a great conversation with a new friend. #transisbeautiful #girlslikeus #transwoman #transgender #pride🌈
Having a rough day today. I am also starting to think shame is having a bigger part in me putting off transitioning than anything else. But I need to fight through this because it is only going to get tougher the longer I wait. (at Scottsdale, Arizona)
to all the trans women who are fetishized by being called “chicks with dicks, traps, trannys, etc.”
to all the trans women who are told “i don’t date penises” or “i only date vaginas” by cis men/women
to all the trans women who are attacked by terfs daily
to all the trans women who do not want to have surgery
to all the trans women who want to have surgery
to all the trans women who are called rapists just because they want to use the bathroom
to all the trans women who experience dysphoria
to all the trans women who do not experience dysphoria
to all the trans women who required to pass as cis because they fear for their lives
to all of the trans women who are afraid to come out
you are beautiful and i love you.
Struggling right now with the fact that I’m still not out and still not on hormones. That coupled with having no one to talk to about it is not a good combination.
