TOMB KEEPER

❛ If there is I haven’t heard it. Its not like my family celebrate christmas… We follow the old gods, even now. ❜

He had always had the feeling that Diva’s religious preferences were similar. Perhaps exposure to the modern world had influenced him more than he’d first thought? When he thought about it there wasn’t a lot that he knew about his fellow Egyptian, only scraps of information gleaned from conversation.

Neither did ‘they’. There were not much to celebrate, nor a reasoning for such, those times were merely spent with the ‘other’s ‘ cheering one another up.      Holiday celebration, religious preferences were in words ‘questionable’ following the old gods were something spoken by ‘mentor’ while they had been underground, but being exposed to the world outside when he walked in his ‘treachery’ just made him want to give his only sibling a little something for the upcoming season coming. 

       “ No- it’s fine.              I’ve no real way to actually communicate with him and rather not bother him either.  “

       Kept from Tomb Keeper, or perhaps not deemed important, were the reasoning of ‘why’ he desired such stories, they had been fairly popular when he had been briefly disguising as a student,     but the memories of those stories did not stick. 

                  If Diva were asking of something, it were from curiosity or for Sera. 

“ I wanted to tell a story to Sera.. as a holiday gift.          And A story of ghost isn’t always only for Halloween,          there was a story about ghost in Christmas..I believe..?  “ 

If Malik did not know any story or that, guess it could not be helped.

❛ I see. So you’re here for Sera. ❜

That made sense although surely Diva could have collected her without needing to loiter and meet with him. He tried to convince himself it was because Diva was still hesitant about the Ring (that’s what he’d noticed in their prior conversation) and that it had nothing to do with his birthday or his mother’s passing.

He kept his eyes on the midday sun. Others might have appreciated the myriad of colours thrown by the sunset. Malik had never been fond of the overwhelming darkness that came afterwards. This warm comfortable middle where light surrounded all without threat was infinitely better.

      Sera were always part of reasoning for remaining                 but there were no denying that the SCENERY of the desert before him was mostly why he came here when awaiting for Sera to return. 

“     Not exactly,             I merely came here for the view.       It is calming. “

The darkness that followed afterwards the light’s setting was just a mildew of comfort, for the dark had never been of comfort yet it was something he also found solstice in. For he walked in the dark as a child, gotten lost and even had demons who tormented him at night, but that was sadly just the part of their lives that they’d had to face.         He remain with silence, merely seated on rock covered sand, fixated over sunset.

They had been at odds earlier. He hadn’t expected to see Diva again for days. Maybe even weeks (without word, without anything) yet he was here. 

                     Welcoming him as if they had never mentioned the Ring.

He seated himself with due suspicion. 

❛ I can’t stay long. Today I need to be with my family. ❜

Indeed they’d been at odds moments ago, but so long as the Ring was not mentioned again he was merely content, still slightly weary, but none the less he did not mind Malik’s company.          Besides        this were probably Malik’s spot before his. 

“ That is fine.                I’ll go with you to retrieve Sera when you’re ready. “

Ground were gently patted by the palm of hand,        ushering the other to take a seat.

“     Come on then. “

“    Oh?                    You’re out here too?                Needed some time alone?  “

If curiosity were a thread it wove a tangled web indeed. He followed it along, collecting whatever he could glean from Diva’s admissions, and waylaid growing assumptions. To jump to a conclusion at this juncture would be beyond reckless (he was no fool). 

Yet he was fascinated by the concept that Diva was unable to remove the Ring. He had known it to be aggressive with its manner of possession. Perhaps it was embedded in him? Golden points steeped in flesh, drawing blood. Or more wholly covered, interwoven with muscles and veins alike, showing its shape but not its true colour. There were few ways to find out.

❛ Show me, then. Isn’t that really why you sought me out? Because I can help you with it. ❜

A tomb keeper was hardly a conventional doctor after all. He especially lacked bedside manner and would have been a distant carer for a cold or a scrape. Yet in dealing with the Millennium Items there was scarcely anyone more reliable to seek when troubled by one.

It just made sense. Even if Diva had initially denied the Ring’s involvement.

❛ Take off your shirt. ❜

       Delicate finger tips pressed lightly against furrowing temple, closing golden gaze. This had been a mistake. Honestly, he hadn’t thought it thoroughly over when making request for the Keeper of the Millennium items, now there was just REGRET in summoning him over to aid him in the unknown pain. 

 “               Tomb Keeper, I...I’ll just apologize right now for wasting your time.                     I know you can help  me with ‘that’ but I highly doubt it is the Ring.  “  

    That were the last thing he wanted were the Tomb Keeper to find out about the Ring’s not exactly being there in physical form, or for that matter were not exactly woven within body.  Eyes opened once more over the request of upper wear to be take off, becoming VERY uncomfortable over that matter, which was not hidden at all. 

“ No.       I shall be taking my leave right now.. “ 

With that, initiative first step back were made, ready to walk off.

❛ How can you say that when you just admitted you don’t know the cause? ❜

The right of possession was an issue he knew he had to treat with caution. Yet since it had been raised by a presumably suspicious Diva he had no choice but to confess the matter was at the forefront of his mind. 

        NOT THAT HE WOULD ALLOW HIS GAZE TO WANDER TO ITS PLACE OF REST.

He kept his kohl lined eyes on those of his fellow Egyptian’s (lest he become inattentive to telling nuances and fall prey to defeat). After all merely being called out didn’t mean the game was over yet. The situation simply demanded that he adjust his hand to suit the flow of the tide.

❛ Have you even tried taking it off? I’m not asking for it, I’m just saying its reasonable to eliminate it as a cause. ❜

                                        Of course if it was to blame he’d gladly receive it.

                                                       “ It’s simple, I don’t know.    “   

      Or rather he did not want to admit it either. The Ring had already taken him over ONCE, when he’d been defeated it remained inside, no longer in the physical world to be SEEN, but that information was something he’d been K E E P I N G a secret to himself. Because...what was to stop someone from getting it back from him at a cost.    After all...he was not the true owner of the RING, it merely was now stuck connected to him. 

 “       Do you believe I would have not tried? “ 

         Flatly stating out the obvious.      If he could take it off, he’d gladly had done so. It was simply the fact that HE couldn’t do it even if he desired to do so.                                         Sera - she didn’t need to know either of this. Last she needed was to be worried as well of being involved in his own personal problems again.

❛ What kind of pain? Be more specific. ❜

The change in his disposition was slight (and despite this it could cut the surrounding atmosphere like a knife). He watched more keenly, waited with both ears pricked, all the while nursing his potential validation and a need to act.

He had long thought the Ring could only belong in the hands of Bakura. If this professed pain was at all related to the Item mightn’t he use it as an excuse to wrangle it back into his custody? For safe keeping.

                 NOTHING ELSE.

    There it were, the change in air and the tension felt slicing through the air.       Given that any sort of speaking of pain could relate to the ring, especially with the simple fact momentarily felt were from where the Ring had carved itself into body, leaving it’s scar indented within.

              Yet, it could not also be from the Ring itself, but a subconscious factor within. 

    After all, he was still getting used to actually being human, solid within the world and actually walking among others once again.                                                 It was probably just that.

     “ It is simply a pain, I cannot fully comprehend it.                I doubt it is the Ring if that is what you are concluding to be the problem.”

❛ You said you wanted to meet me? ❜

“  It is probably my own fault and I did not want to worry anyone else,                but lately I’ve bee feeling pain. “

                                         “  Hm. Very well. “ 

He’ll drop it      Sera would most probably speak of the conversation between two ladies if asked later by him.

      “ Then how about we as well make conversation like our siblings? “

How. Very. Reassuring.     “    Are I to regret in seeking an answer to ’ WHY ‘ it’s better not to ask? “

"They seem to be getting along."

Indeed.       Such a refreshing sight for Sera to have another lady ( even if she were older ) for conversation - face showed a rare smile, observing both in conversation with one another.  B U T      Diva could not help but take note that four pairs of eyes secretly staring back at the other pair of siblings. 

                               “ . . . . . Why is it that they keep looking back at us? “
