it stresses me the fuck out when a show has limited episodes and it suddenly introduces character beats i know they have absolutely no intention of resolving/building upon. this is what it was like watching fionna and cake s2

in other news my so far consensus on fionna and cake s2 is that ive accepted that the show is just a fundamentally different beast from what i was hoping it to be (s2e1 makes it clear from the get-go its completely leaned into the tone of s1e9+10) so im happy there were still elements about it i still managed to find compelling. that being said i think the reason so many plot and character beats tend to be fumbled/underutilized this season is because the material its working with just has too conceptually weak of a foundation + too restrictive of a structure (narratives centered on deconstruction work better with 10 seasons of buildup as opposed to 19 episodes) to expand on its core ideas in a way that feels impactful. also i hate the pink thing

i guess it shouldve been obvious in hindisight but i forgot that disappearing for extended periods of time means you can just straight up lose people in your life forever. i was stuck in one place for so long and i was so convinced nothing would ever change for me that i forgot that like. time passes for other people and their lives will continue regardless of whether or not im in it. of course bringing this up wont do anything now and im not resentful over anyone for this or even myself but it is strange that i let things get so weird that by the time i decided to start moving again there wasnt anything i could do anymore other than say thank you and wish the best
