(  gavin  leatherwood  ,  21  ,  cis  male  ,  he  /  him  )  hey ,   is  that  JAMES  POTTER  wandering  the  halls  without  a  companion  ?   the  SIXTH  YEAR  is  getting  bold .   and  here  i  thought  the  GRYFFINDOR  was  always  more  dynamic ,   candid  &   resolute .   but  then  they  are  also  known  to  be  impulsive ,   image-conscious  &  flippant ,   so  maybe  that  makes  sense .   these  hard  times  are  enough  to  change  anybody ,   i suppose .   and  did  you  hear  people  are  saying  they’re  in  THE  ORDER  ?   rumors  fly  when  people  are  cooped  up .   here ,   i’ll  show  you  —  JAMES  always  reminded  me  of  the  reassuring  weight  of  an  arm  slung  around  your  shoulders ;   willow  branches  rustling  in  the  warm  summer  breeze ;   the  smoky  sweet  smell  of  mesquite  and  citrus ;   forever  reaching  for  the  horizon ,   even  when  the  golden  light  of  the  setting  sun  blinds  you ;   uncalloused  hands  that  never  quite  rest  still ;   the  hum  of  electricity  in  the  air  before  a  summer  storm ;   wearing  the  limelight  like  a  second  skin ;   the  adrenaline  of  making  someone  you  love  laugh ;   ink-stained  fingers  and  unruly  hair  from  a  sleepless  night  (  is  it  perfectionism  or  obsession  ?  ) .  and  i’ve  heard  HE  DRINKS  FELIX  FELICIS  BEFORE  EVERY  QUIDDITCH  MATCH .   let’s  hope  the  PUREBLOOD  doesn’t  get  attacked  by  the  beast .   or  let’s  at  least  hope  that  rumor  doesn’t  get  back  to  them  before  they  do .

james  is  what  happens  when  a  child  is  told  his  whole  life  that  he  is  extraordinary ,   and  it’s  true .   he  grew  up  sated  on  love  and  comfort  and  wealth ,   the  only  child  of  two  wealthy  purebloods  who  had  once  thought  it  impossible  for  them  to  have  a  child ,   and  lavished  every  ounce  of  adoration  they  had  upon  james  for  proving  them  otherwise .

he  was  a  prodigy  —  there’s  no  doubting  that .   chubby  toddler  fingers  that  crackled  with  magic  grew  into  long  fingers  wielding  a  wand  with  expert  ease .   unsteady  toddler  footsteps  turned  into  daredevil  swoops  and  turns  on  the  latest  broom  model .

there  have  been  many  who  have  attempted  to  hate  james ,  and  there  have  been  many  who  have  failed .   it’s  something  about  his  smile ,   equal  parts  mischievous ,   charming ,   and  oh-so  earnest .   it’s  something  about  his  hazel  eyes :   the  laughter  lines  that  line  them ,   the  way  they  glint  with  curiosity ,   the  softness  they  hold  when  he  looks  at  his  friends .   it’s  his  easy  confidence

and  let’s  be  HONEST ,  it’s  the  fact  that  he’s  fucking  gorgeous .   you  think  he’d  get  away  with  as  much  shit  as  he  does  if  he  was  plain ?   hell  no .   he’s  a  pretty  boy  &  he  gets  all  the  privilege  that  comes  with  that .

of  course ,   there  have  also  been  those  who  have  attempted  to  hate  james  and  SUCCEEDED .   and  they  wouldn’t  be  wrong !   his  confidence  can  tip  over  into  arrogance .   his  pranks  have  been  known  to  border  on  cruel .   he  has  ZERO  self  awareness ,   and  well  and  truly  believes  he  is  the  good  guy  of  every  situation .   he  sticks  his  nose  in  where  it  isn’t  wanted ,   and  tries  to  fix  what  isn’t  broken .   he  tends  to  view  the  world  in  black  and  white .

you  might  think  his  arrogance  would  mean  he  doesn’t  care ,   but  actually ,   the  opposite  is  true .   if  something’s  gone  wrong ,   or  someone’s  unhappy ,   he  unconsciously  (a)  assumes  he  can  fix  it ,  and  (b)  decides  it’s  his  responsibility  to  fix  it .   shoulders  all  responsibility  and  can  get  very  stubborn  about  it .   main  character  syndrome  fr

probably  like ,  60%  of  his  brain  real  estate  is  devoted  to  loving  his  friends .   this  boy  is  so  fucking  ride  or  die .   he  is  devoted  to  the  marauders  and  considers  them  his  brothers

predominantly  hyperactive / impulsive  type :   fidgety ,   impulsive ,   talkative ,   impatient ,   restless

often  speaks  before  he  thinks  and  regrets  it ,   but  just  passes  it  off  as  a  joke  rather  than  admit  that  he  doesn’t  know  why  he  said  that

often  has  insomnia ,   so  you  can  find  him  in  the  gryffindor  common  room  at  very  late  hours ,   sketching  out  new  ideas  for  a  prank  while  fiddling  with  a  snitch ,   or  attempting  to  take  something  apart ,   figure  out  how  it  works ,  and  put  it  back  together

oh  yeah  also  he  doesn’t  take  felix  felicis  before  every  quidditch  game  lol  i  just  thought  that  would  be  a  fun  rumour .   he  does  have  stupid  luck  with  his  lot  in  life  tho

“ thanks for the warning but i don’t need it. that pirate was not worth all the time i gave them and since you asked so politely, the masks stayed on. they insisted on it, in fact. i think it was to hide the fact they were just embarassing.” peter whispered, as if he was divulging top secret information. the said sexy house elf was pleased that someone noticed his costume before giving a low whistle as he watched the beauty in front of him pull out her flask. “ wow, how willing are you to share?” he asked, nodding to her flask.

          emma  glanced  over  her  shoulder  at  the  masked  house  elf  in  question  as  he  emerged  from  the  washroom ,   placing  her  drink  down  for  a  moment  to  give  a  sardonic  round  of  applause .   “   you  sure  you’re  qualified  to  judge  what  counts  as  EMBARRASSING ,   sweetheart ?   ”   she  asked  pointedly ,   eyes  falling  on  his  skimpy  get-up .   his  voice  was  oddly  familiar ,   and  emma’s  gaze  narrowed  as  she  tried  to  place  it .   “   you  mentally  scar  me  with  that  costume  and  then  expect  me  to  SHARE  my  drink  with  you  ?   i’m  almost  impressed  at  the  audacity .   ”   she  folded  her  arms ,  her  lips  pursing  in  thought .  where  did  she  know  that  voice  from  ?   “   tell  you  what .   i  give  you  something ,  you  give  me  something .   show  me  who’s  behind  that  mask  and  i  MIGHT  consider  sharing .   that  is ,   unless  you’re  too  EMBARRASSED .   ”   red  lips  curved  into  a  smirk  as  she  lifted  her  eyebrows  at  him  challengingly .

𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧  :  caradoc  dearborn  .

       “  bloody  hell   ,   ”  caradoc  whispered  in  obvious  amusement   .  “  you’re  a  bit  of  a  bitch   ,   aren’t  ya  ?   ”   he  offered  a  smirk  as  he  took  a  swig  of  his  own  drink ;  nonalcoholic  ,   which  should  have  bothered  him  more  than  it  actually  did  .   “   well  ,  if  i’m  bein’  honest   ,   kinda  feels  like  i  should  be  the  one  afraid  of  you   …   especially  since  i  may  or  may  not  have  a  three  li’l  pigs  skit  to  perform  in  about   ,  ”    doc  lifted  his  arm  and  studied  the  nonexistent  watch  on  his  wrist   ,  “  ten  minutes  ?  ”   it  was  a  lie   ,   of  course   .   the  only  performing  doc  took  part  in  involved  a  microphone   ,   some  instruments   ,   and  a  whole  lot  of  cheering   .    “  so  beware   ,  ‘cause  my  acting  is  subpar  at  best  .   ”

𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧  :  emma  vanity  .

          “   you  big  flatterer ,  you're  too  kind ,   ”   emma  demurred ,   batting  her  eyelashes  in  a  mockery  of  coyness ,   though  secretly  she  was  pleased  at  the  insult .   others  might  have  claimed  imitation  was  the  highest  form  of  flattery  —   HA !   clearly  they'd  never  lived  in  emma's  shoes .   fear  was  the  true  highest  form  of  flattery .   “   well ,   then .   i'll  make  sure  not  to  MISS  it .   i'll  save  the  mouldiest ,   mushiest  tomatoes  especially  for  you .   ”

𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧  :  frank  longbottom  .  

“  jeez,  thanks  for  an  image  i’ll  never  be  able  to  get  out  of  my  head  now. ”  frank  cringes,  somewhat  dramatically,  as  he  finds  a  place  to  lean  against  the  nearest  wall. his  cup,  which  was  precariously  full,  remains  idle  in  his  hands. he  shifts  to  face  emma,  obviously  still  haunted  by  the  thought  of  the  possible  events  occurring  behind  the  washroom  doors. “  you  know,  i’m  not  sure  how  a  sexy  house  elf  costume  could  manage  to  turn  anyone  on,  but  to each their own  i  guess. ”  he  muses,  intrigue  flashing  across  his  features.

          “   would  you  rather  i  HADN’T  warned  you ?   i  expect  that  image  would’ve  been  a  tad  harder  to  get  out  of  your  head ,   ”   she  pointed  out  drily ,   a  faint  smirk  crossing  her  lips .   “   my  guess  is  that  being  heavily  intoxicated  doesn’t  hurt ,   though  frankly  i  don’t  think  there’s  enough  alcohol  in  the  world  for  that .   i  suppose  some  people  are  just  DESPERATE .   or  freaks .   ”
