every time i watch the first scene in merlin it always makes me laugh like a fucking idiot wtf were they thinking. this kid walks into camelot, we know shit all about this show except that apparently john hurt is narrating?? and IMMEDIATELY they show an execution, they make it clear that magic is outlawed, and then they cut to merlin, who has this surprised, guilty look on his face like hello? HELLO??? did hunith not fucking tell him magic was outlawed in camelot? ??and if not, why tf didnt he turn right around and go home? instead he just stays and commits treason on pain of death in the first ten minutes God help me i cant take it. im not saying i wouldnt do the same thing im just saying if i saw a man beheaded for winking and heard a lecture from the king about why its banned my immediate reaction would not be to wink in the king’s own fucking castle
