It’s, essentially, fetishization. Yes, someone can fetishize what they are - no part of “have an excessive and irrational commitment to or obsession with” excludes that possibility, nor does the other definition you probably think of.

It’s not a bad thing. It’s your line of thinking that is. While, certainly, some people would be one or the other if they were aware, “at least 25%” goes from “rational” to “obsessed” instantly. To quote myself in a message, “The original post is essentially saying ‘25% of straight people are ACTUALLY BISEXUAL!’”
