Just something for fun I've caught myself thinking about while at work regarding what could have happened to the TADC cast in the real world. I admit I'm interested in the tragic idea that their bodies could be dying in the real world while their minds are in the circus but who knows. I'm actually content with not knowing what's going on in reality and heavily doubt we'd get any answers anyways so.
As much as I don't want to trust the Circus' passing of time to actually be accurate, I do agree that the cast has been stuck inside for years. I also agree that they all entered the Circus at varying points in time. Like, Kinger being the 90's and Ragatha being mid 2000's. Jax and Zooble I choose to think were around mid-late 2010's and Gangle being closer to 2021 with Pomni being the most recent at 2023 (I'm choosing 23 over 25 purely because the pilot released in 2023.) Even though everybody knows they've been stuck for years and can more or less, feel the passage of time, I don't think any of them truly realize how long it's been. Or alternatively, they choose not to think about it too hard. Everybody knows how long a human body can go without food and water. It's not years. I'll get back to that though. Another point of interest I've found myself thinking about is the headset itself that transported everyone here in the first place. I much prefer the idea that it's all the same, single headset responsible. The same computer, the same building. Growing more and more abandoned over time until the place is downright derelict, overgrown and boarded up forgotten by the world (until Pomni decided to do some abandoned building vlogging for youtube, of course.) I like to think the place wasn't so bad when Ragatha found it while working real estate- the old office building outdated and messy sure, but still fixable for somebody to buy. All of this of course means I can't ignore the big question of "If it's all the same place, then where are the bodies? And how haven't the authorities found any of these missing people?" I'm sorry but if I snuck into an abandoned building and found somebody unresponsive, with a headset on them, that shouldn't even be working because there shouldn't be power running to this building in the first place- I would leave and call the police. That's just me, though. This is why even though I think it's all the same setting, I do not believe the theory that the cast's bodies are just left out to rot (or if not rotting, I don’t believe they’re being monitored and kept alive because this clashes with my idea of there being only one functioning headset.) This is kind of anticlimactic considering how much text I just wrote, but I honestly think once you connect to TADC your body just... blips out of reality. Yeah, I know that kinda sounds like a copout but I like it. I personally like a bit of supernatural elements brought into play. No bodies, no evidence. Just an old office building. I even like the idea of the computer itself leaning into the supernatural, the screen black in the presence of multiple people. This place is abandoned, of course there's no power. But in the presence of one? The old thing hums and flickers to life, TADC logo on the screen and the quiet sound of its theme song playing. The headset sits, waiting. Either you're weirded out enough to leave and not look back... or curiosity gets the better of you. It'll just be for a second. What's the harm? Dust? Maybe a cobweb or two, but whatever. Just put it on. It'll be funny.
