yaoi.. ?
Dragon Prince conclusions in season 6 where a bit lacking ( in terms of setting up the big fight in season 7 ).
The sun elves plot was about an army splitting up from the rest and being secretly manipulated by Aaravos. who was set up in season 3 to have corrupted this one elv with the staff. But instead of leading into an fight in season 7 where we can see these elves join aaravos ( showing that everyone can be manipulated by him, be a parallel to the human army under Viren control, and making the whole plot at least worth while ). Instead they all die by the rest of the elves with no moral question or set up for the future.
Sir sparklepuff was set up as one of the first things aaravos did. His purpose and grows in the story was always an analysis and theory part. The question was always: What is his purpose ? Especially once aaravos called either Viren or sparklepuff his vessel. Now he is death for the purpose of bringing back Viren or making Claudia more evil. This is not a satisfactory conclusion for such a long theorized question.
While Virens death was okay, it didn’t add enough to make the last seasons worth while. I was always wondering what aaravos plan for Viren was or when Viren gets his redemption how he will help and interact with the whole crew. Will he try to apologies to Rayla. Actually get Ezra to see that all the evil people he burnt in season 3 where actually humans as well and the world isn’t black and white. Will he make amends with Claudia. Or my main theory teach callum dark magic theories ( I expected that aaravos would only be affected by dark magic since he has an Connection to all other magic types and we saw that fire elves for example are immune to fire. So the crew only accepts Viren because they want him to perform the magic and not risk callum soul. Callum is listening to Viren to make sure he is not making something else, leading into callum knowing the magic spell Viren wants to perform against aaravos. During the last battle Viren gets controlled by Aaravos and since callum is the only dark magic user not in aaravos control, who knows the spell, he is forced to performe it. ) I had theory’s and exceptions of how they could use Viren and all he did for two seasons was play statue. Than he finally gets moving and he only truelly interacts with Soren before being death AGAIN. WHY IS HE ˋNEAR´ DEATH AT EVERY SEASON ENDING.
Right now the last battle of the season is aaravos and Claudia against every dragon, human, elves in the world. WHY. he was set up as a manipulator, all conflicts we saw where about two perspectives where the problem was that human and magic creatures don’t get along and the mistrust, hypocrisy, violence of their history. We saw humans in virens army who could still be around to help aaravos, the sun elves army who I already explained had ties with aaravos, the pirates who could team up with the villains because they were set up as wanting dark magic, the blood huntress who could have a past with aaravos. So many opportunitys to set up an villain force our heroes have to prepare and combine all their allies for to combat that. But instead all problems have been dealt with separately and will not come back as a set up for the finale. Why invest time into characters if all those villains where just side quest to past the time.
In the beginning the show was about the conflict between humans and elves and the reasons for dark magic. Now it is boringly black and white even with aaravos back story. because even if he has reasons to hate and destroy everybody. It is not the same as virens question of is dark magic right to use if it saves millions of lives for the cost of one magic creature. Are Humans evil for creating dark magic so they are equal to elves or was it justified in some cases like callum using it to help others. Moral implications was the drive in 3 seasons and now it is only Raylum. While it is cute it is not enough to keep the plot interesting.
Even the fall of the kingdom or Claudia missing a leg are lack luster, since she is just getting a new one without anyone acknowledging the implication of her losing a leg to dark magic ( her father choices ) or because rayla cut it off ( the good guys actually harming her ). In katolis nobody we cared for actually died except for Viren who is dying every season.
I don’t want to be to negative but I am trying to theorize how they can make the season 7 interesting without the first 3 episodes the villains just recruiting people, the next 3 the battle and the ending the redemption or just death for those people. Since forming any interesting alliances or moral questions takes time to set up and I found none worth while set up or continued in the last three seasons.
Do you any of you have actuall theory’s for the ending who have some form of foreshadowing in place or are interesting moral and character conqlusions you can all set up in one season. I don’t mean things like raylum stays together or Ezra will be a good king. More like I believed aaravos will be defeated by dark magic and callum will be the one to do it ( even without Viren even though that would have been more interesting and natural ).
Something that bothers me about tdp season 6 is that they did this one-time trick with soren and viren like ong did viren take soren heart 😮 which personally I saw it coming it really would have not made sense for his character at that time to take soren heart especially after the talk they had in ep 5 and the fact he didn't kill sir sparklepuff.
But whether you saw it coming or not, it does not change the fact they robbed us of soren and viren last emotional moment for a fake out if they wanted something shocking or emotional their last moment would have been perfect the emotions and shock could still be their depending on what the characters say and do
Magefam deserved better 😤 The last time Magefam was reunited was s4 - and they gave zero lines for that scene. The writers literally admitted they just didn’t know what the characters would say.
Then they give us the fake-out instead of the actual last lines between Viren and Soren??
I’m just beyond pissed at this point.
Day 2 : Discover
Inktober 2024
I started reading puzzle house, and I noticed something. There seems to be an age mismatch... In S6, soren looks about 6 ish. Claudia about 4... in the flashback that Lissa leaves. Which is preceded by kppar's disappearance. Soren is shown that young when Viren saved him. (Image credits : @raayllum and @stuck-in-jelly ) look how young soren is! Abd claudia is teeny weeny!
BUT IN PUZZLE HOUSE.... there's a scene between King Atticus (What a lovely man) and Viren.... he asks Viren how he is doing out of genuine concern!
(Pardon the picture quality my camera is not so great)
THE FOLOW UP OF THE SAME INCIDENT THAT IS IN VIREN'S FLASHBACKS!!!! BUT SOREN LOOKS ABOUT 10ISH AND CLAUDIA ABOUT 8ISH!
Now it is very much possible that the puzzle house happens very much later. Like after a time skip.
Also to note: claudia was given kppar's spellbook. Tge kids had been to his house multiple times atleast to mention "he never let us entertained his tower". Also Atticus asks the question as if it all happened fairly recently. Means tge flashback of s6 happened pretty close to the time of puzzle house no? But soren and claudia look older to me...
Wouldn't it make more sense if soren and claudia were a little older than how they are shown in s6 flashbacks to have known kppar! If soren is saved at an older age it would still work.
I don't know if it was a mismatch between the two departments handling the production of the season and the graphic novel. But their ages don't line up... like if all of those flashbacks of s6 happened with a little older claudia and soren, they would remember that incident much more strongly, and that is fitting for character!
I see three possibilities...
A) This is truly a mistake and there was a mismatch between the teams that made the season and the novel.
B) This is deliberate! They showed the flashbacks through Viren's POV. And maybe its the "to parents their children are always young" or this is just how he is seeing them in the memory of that incident now. Memories become distorted over time... we don't remember details and when we recall, we fill their place with details of how we felt that incident to be like, which is sometimes not what it actually was.... Viren's guilt makes him look at himself like the terrible man who hurt his two innocent children. And what better way to make a child look innocent than to literally age them down! Look at this image of claudia from one of the short stories... here she looks about her puzzle house age, seeing Lissa leave.
So it is true that the puzzle house ages are reality and the flashback ages are Viren's projections of his children as how innocent they were when he hurt their family. I AM ONTO SOMETHING HERE, I REALLY WANT THIS TO BE TRUE!
C) I could be wrong at judging character ages too (in that case it would be a bummer cuz what sort of animation student am I then?)
But what do you guys think? I am leaning towards the ages being shown that way is deliberate...
I think it was “deliberate” in that they were out of budget to make another model of 9 year oldish Soren - and I hate it 😤 In other words, they messed up.
Their inability to keep the backstory straight honestly ruined it for me. It makes zero sense if Soren was a toddler (he looks 4 in the flashbacks to me) because then Claudia would be an infant.
How could an infant remember their mom so dearly? Why would a grown woman tell an infant to choose which parent??
I mean, it’s still messed up that Lissa asked her kids to choose at all 🤷♀️ But even more messed up if Claudia was still wearing diapers.
Soren choose his dad. This was meant to illustrate that once upon a time he was to close to his dad. I dunno, but for me there’s quite a difference if that last time they were close was when Soren was around 9 vs a toddler?
Also, the other problem is Callum remembers Viren being a loving dad to BOTH of his kids. This was in his notebook thing. Considering Callum and Soren’s age difference, Callum and Ezrans age difference (which tells us when Callum came to the castle)…Callum was about 4 years old when he moved to the castle.
(But then Callum needs some amount of time at the castle to even notice Viren being a good dad…..)
That still puts Soren at around 8-9 years old when the divorce happened! 😩
Why couldn’t they animate 9 year old Soren??? Wouldn’t it have made more sense? Wouldn’t it have been more tender to show that Viren was still affectionate to his 9 year old boy?
(Explaining maybe why 18 year old Soren was still emotionally attached to his dad??)
But they wanted viewers to hate Viren absolutely, so nah, let’s show Viren kick a toddler instead 💀 the optics!
Did some redraws in an attempt to learn how to draw Viren properly. Honestly, I'm comfortable denying his eyeliner
"What Is Dead May Never Die"
We've been through a lot, and I want to thank each and every one of you who still love him wholeheartedly and continue to create for him until today. You guys are always like stars that light up the dark night for me.
viren kitty was a topic of interest on twitter so i delivered (with virrow)
young viren sketch (based on puzzle house look)
i wonder who he is looking at (its harrow)
I know I’m like six years late to the party, but I have yet to come across a post talking about how Viren was 100% ready to give his own life for Harrow to live despite his initial reservations.
We in the Viren fandom know this, and have never forgotten! But I'm not sure the writers of this show remember this......😞
I really love Terry & Viren relationship. +- best friends or found family, i think? Something like that.
