*does a gay little unethical scientific experiment that challenges God*
Sooo can we talk about how fucked up worship music is or are we not ready for that conversation yet
i have always recoiled at amazing grace because even if i was a christian, i am not about to worship a âperfectâ god who made me by calling myself a wretch
I was just thinking last night about "on Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand"
Way to teach people learned helplessness, guys
Just saw a Christain say âJesus healed people to demonstrate his authorityâ and honestly that just about sums up evangelical Christian thought.
They read a story about a man helping others and they interpret it to be about him using the opportunity to show off his greatness instead of genuinely caring for those in need.
Stunning example of their worldview đ€Ą
christianity has deep roots in homophobia and transphobia. regardless of your personal beliefs. regardless of your community's acceptance. regardless of the lack of homophobic or transphobic text in the bible. christians have on going history of being violent towards queer people. christianity shouldn't be protected from criticism or justified hatred.
this is incredibly important !! i might fall under the category of âprogressive christianâ (or heretic, depending on who you talk to) even though i wouldnât call myself that, but i cannot ignore the homophobic, transphobic, genocidal, xenophobic, sexist, slavery-condoning nature of the religion, as well as the bible itself.
it doesnât matter how i personally interpret the bible to be affirming of queerness, etc. - christianity was and is harmful. the sacred texts that inform it, and their reading in the history of the christian tradition, are marginalizing & oppressive. then of course there is literally the entire history of christianity as a religion that kills and continues killing to this day.
i need to acknowledge that, & progressive christians need to acknowledge that, & i would say that the evangelical church needs to acknowledge it as well but tbh that whole institution needs to be burned to the ground.
no matter how much we re-interpret & expand our theology to include & not harm, the source material remains the same. & the truth is that the source material - scripture - can be interpreted to fit almost any agenda & ideology. we do not get to ignore that just because our theology causes less wounds.

Hallelujah in Shrek>every Xtian cover ever
Shrek is an inherently Jewish story about Jews not being able to own land (land under the domain of the king, this is an actual and factual thing that has happened in Jewish history), being seen as less than human, perhaps monstrous. âShrek!â Is a childrenâs book by a Jewish author, âshrekâ is a Yiddish word meaning âfear or fright.â While admittedly the book doesnât have these same elements of the movie (Shrekâs parentâs kick him out) the movie legitimately makes perfect sense as a parable for antisemitism and anyways I like both Shrek and Leonard Cohen and hate Xtian covers of the song :)
"Shrek is an inherently Jewish story" is not the take I ever expected to read but damn if it isn't interesting now that I think about it
Imagine hating Jesus so much you cannot physically bring yourself to write out "CHRIST."
Imagine being so insecure in your prosleyizing religion you canât accept that people donât want to write out the name of a false prophet. Iâm Jewish, I donât believe he was the messiah and he does not fulfill any of the Jewish requirements to be the moshiach anyways, which btw, was our concept first before yâall bastardized it lmao
Nobody whoâs posted here hates Jesus.
A lot of us have some pretty damn salty thoughts about his fanboys, though.
Also, using X in place of Christ is an acceptable substitution and has been for centuries. Itâs only been fairly recent that some Christians have started objecting to it to feed their false persecution complex.
love the wording on this. even asexualâŠâŠ. âthose horrible satanists arent having sex, which is what we wanted but theyâre Doing It Wrong!â
like okay i thought christians were into celibacy why is it bad when we suddenly donât want sex at all
being on the other side of christianity Iâm just like. why would you take something as beautiful as human life and ruin it by creating a higher power who hates your natural state of being and demands perfection with a set of standards that donât mean anything. when you could just like. be kind and respectful to others. and enjoy being in your body. we never needed guilt and fearmongering.
"My favourite pagan tradition is converting to Christianity!!1!1"
Honey, your ancestors were brutalised to get them there. It's not a flex.
Growing up, my pastor talked a lot about God as omniscient and omnipotent. Because the Misery Synod is always at least a little bit threatening, this manifested as "God is always watching and He knows when you do something wrong."
When I developed severe anxiety as a tween, the adults in my life were confused by my feeling that I was being judged for everything I did. Looking back, I want to shake them and ask what they expected to happen. You literally told me that; you don't get to be confused by it.
"love the sinner, hate the sin" mfs when I say I love religious people but hate religion
every time I hear christians talk about what they think is one and only truth with burning passion all I can think about is "wow that's such a sad worldview to have"
thinking that you're born broken and "not enough" and if you don't submit yourself to god you'll suffer eternally cannot be good for your well-being
it makes me feel bad for them ngl
You canât say you care about your kids education and then send them to a part-time school that cares more about the Bible than the legal curriculum
You canât pretend to love like Jesus and then be scared to let your kids be around someone just because they arenât a Christian
Donât tell me this is for the sake of your kids when itâs for the sake of yourself
If your beliefs were worth believing, you wouldnât be so scared that others exist
Tired of âreligion helps mental healthâ no yall COMMUNITY and BELONGING helps mental health. Feeling loved and respected and believing that the world is bigger than yourself, that is the common denominator. Start meal trains and group gatherings and clubs, donât wait for the church to do that shit. Thatâs what saves people, not sky daddy.
