Lately it has been a struggle to write and it has felt like a drain on my self esteem.
At the end of the day, it’s important to remind yourself that YOU are worth more than the dissertation.
The writing will come back to you eventually!

the key to surviving grad school (also maybe life but definitely grad school) is to pick a side quest every few months or so. something that brings you joy and that you can get better at over time, independent of whether or not your research or classes are going well. put your need for academic validation to use in a non-academic setting and everything will feel less dire and you will learn you are more than your work
Yesterday felt like a successful archive day.
Was able to spend time in a new archive and while I didn’t find exactly what I set out to find, I was able to read some other related information that should help with my dissertation down the road. Sometimes the answers you want aren’t right in front of you but something else helpful is.
Afterwards, before heading to my evening course, I stopped at a cafe to review the material I found and complete some free-writing on the topic. Treated myself to a cappuccino and piece of cake for a successful day! ☕️🍰
Okay but I love my walk to the archive

Sometimes I feel so lost sitting in the archive, looking through decades of old media.
Sometimes it’s a wonderful type of lost and sometimes it’s just lost. But you have to sit there and do the work to figure it out.
