Blue and her sisters had been living with Owen for many years, ever since he rescued them from INGen and the island. Blue always found herself looking at the pictures that Owen had around the house, especially the ones of him and another woman that looked the same age as him. His twin sister, as she had been told after asking about her way to many times to count.

Blue had heard many stories of Owens family, but she or her sisters had yet to meet them. But today was that day, she was finally going to meet her dads (as that’s what her and her sisters considered Owen to be) family, well his sister anyway. Blue was more than nervous as she heard talking from an unfamiliar female voice. She slowly walked downstairs and into the living room, seeing Owens sister.

She stood at the door, only looking into the room, too scared and worried to enter. She was worried that his sister didn’t approve of them staying in her brothers house or that she possibly didn’t even know they existed.

It was Trea’s own fault she hadn’t properly met the girls yet. When she had been on the island, 90% of her time had been spent with the Indominus Rex -- studying it, attempting to create a bond with it. And when everything went to hell...well, she blamed herself. It took her a good long while to get over that. But she was slowly starting to realize no one could have predicted what happened. That the mixing of several types of DNA made establishing a behaviour pattern impossible. 

And if there was anyone to blame, it was InGen. Not her. Not the creature who had no idea how to interact with the greater world. No. This was all Hoskins and Wu. Mostly Wu. Hoskins might have wanted weapons, but Wu was the one okay with playing god. 

So yeah. Several months later, she was just finally making it to Owen’s place to meet the girls. But hey...she brought presents because that was what Aunts did, right? Her and Owen’s Uncle used to just give them cash but you know...first visit...she wanted it to be special.

Hearing the footsteps behind them, Trea turned from Owen to offer the girl in the doorway a smile. “Blue, right? Hi. I’m your Aunt Trea.”

There was a smirk that formed on his features at her words.  He had known she wanted it, and he was being a brat.  Typical of their relationship honestly.  “We shared a womb for nine months, but we can’t share a cake?  Honest, the piece is fine.  I just licked the side of it.”  He shrugged, looking over at her.  “You absolutely sure you don’t want it?”

“Yes, I am absolutely sure I do not want your slobber cake.” Even if he did lick half of it, it still had his germs on it and ewwwww Owen germs. Instead, she’d simply go to the freezer and grab the carton of ice cream (and a spoon) before hopping up on the counter to eat it. Cause if Owen can lick cake, she can eat ice cream straight from the carton. 

And for breakfast too. Woo for being an adult.

“ I’ll just bug Henry. That’s usually my go-to when I’m not with you or Owen anyways. ” Besides, not even Simon knew what went on in the lab half the time. He’d check up on it, of course, he owned it after all. But it was the result he was more interested in than anything else.

And she wanted in on this. She usually was called when they wanted to clone a new dinosaur - so why wasn’t she this time? It was strange but created a game for her.

“ I’m sure I can. I usually end up getting my way, one way or another. Besides, it would fun, I think, being there with you. ” She nudged Trea’s shoulder with her own and grinned brightly. “ But either way, this is exciting for you! Super secret, top secret, project? Can’t say I’m surprised they went to you, sugarball - we Grady’s tend to be the best of the best. ”

Henry. Trea couldn’t imagine ever calling Dr. Wu by his first name. But then, there was something about the geneticist that constantly made Trea feel like she was still in her high school science classes. 

With a smile, she nudged her mother back and nodded...blushing ever so slightly at the praise. “Momma. Sto-op. You have to say that.” Well, she didn’t have to. But really, what mother didn’t think her children were the best? “Though, I do appreciate the vote of confidence. Working with a living, breathing creature is a far cry for the hypotheticals I used to run with Dr. Grant.”

His eyes are glued on the sight below them.  That thing wasn’t a dinosaur.  Hearing her, he let out a breath, and finally looked at her.  “First of all, we still haven’t talked about the fact that you never told me you were working with a secret killer monster.  And second, what do you mean, you told me so?  This is much more your mess than mine.  That thing…”  His finger pointed through the bars at the thing in the cage “… is part Indominus.”  

He wasn’t angry at her, but at Wu and the lab rats.  At the people that were exploiting all of this for money.  “We can talk about this later.  We need to keep that thing here.”  He’s moving down the wall, looking for a way down.  “See anything?”

“One, as I told Mom when Simon first hired me, I had to sign about 23 NDAs just to get to Costa Rica. I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone. Two, I didn’t know Indo was going to be killer monster when I started. And three, the other part of that thing is raptor, so this is just as much your fault as mine. Why do you think they wanted Blue?” Oh god. This was entirely and completely their fault. Trea’s work with the Indominous Rex. Owen’s work with the raptors. The relationship he had with them. They made it so this could happen.

“Know what? Let’s just find a way to stop it. And maybe never ever tell Mom about this.” Like ever. Scanning the room she looked for something they could use to get to the room below. “Air vent. If we can get in there, we can drop down atop the cage.”

//Sorry for being MIA; spent most of the weekend in bed/on the couch with a headache (stupid weather). But at work now and catching up. 

Everyone is on vacation this week so there is literally NOTHING to do. Which means at least during work hours this week I’ll be super active.

“ A new attraction? Of course, they go and make a new one when I was waist deep in sand all the way in Egypt. I swear, Henry plans this so I don’t come and bug it about it throughout the process. ” Jaq hummed, arms crossed as she tapped her fingers against her arm. “ Well, if it was non-dangerous there would be no need for you here - so I’m guessing it’s a carnivore. ”

“I really wish I could tell you, Mom. But unless you get Simon or Wu to give the go ahead, I can’t.” And even then, she wasn’t sure Simon knew everything that had gone into the new dino. And yes, she literally meant new. Because apparently InGen was creating designer dinos now.

But as unnecessary as that was, Trea couldn’t help but be intrigued by the idea. What traits would it inherit? What behaviours would be predominant? She couldn’t wait to find out.

“But hey...if anyone can get them to budge on this, it’s you.” And it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world...having her mother around the paddock. In fact, she’d kind of enjoy having her as a sounding board. Someone to help her delve deep into the creature’s worldview.

“ I think Simon is trying to collect all the Grady’s. ” Jaq, Owen and now Trea? He was definitely collecting the Grady’s. At this point, she fully expect to see a few of her nephews being hired in as part of security.

“ What did he hire you for? He wouldn’t tell me. ” Which, rude.

“That’s because it is, unfortunately, highly classified. I had to sign about 23 different NDAs before they even flew me down here. What I can tell you is that they’re close to unveiling a new attraction and Simon asked me down here to study it ahead of the opening. He was hoping I could give the handlers a comprehensive write up of the breed’s behavioural patterns.”
