A bit of sea urchin painting!
For the longest time I had my heart set on using authentic patina on my pieces. I just loved the concept of the metal’s decay creating such incredible colors.
Sadly, over time, it became clear that the patina wasn’t as stable or as durable as I needed it to be. It tends to degrade even after applying varnish, and that's a risk I wasn't willing to take.
I realized it was time to let go and find a better way.
These are my first handpainted earrings, using acrylics to simulate the patina. I think the results are good, and way more durable!
I'm still struggling with this, but sometimes being an artist means letting stubborness aside and learning to adapt.

I've been working on some comissions lately. This is one of my favourites: a version of my flamingo earrings but in a pink/coral shade.
It was fun using the dry brush technique to give them texture with the acrylic paint. I'm definitely going to apply this idea to some designs that I hope I can show soon!
Chic an unusual pattern for this antique summer kurotomesode depicting a school of saltwater fishes and flowing kelp.
Last summer I came with the idea of this choker/bracelet with a nautical steampunk-ish design.
My intention was for it to be versatile and easy to make. But it ended up being more time consuming than I anticipated and not worthwhile at all.
It's such a pity, really, because I love the result in terms of aesthetic. But for now I'm not making more of them.
I'll have to rethink the design or come up with tools or techniques to make it easier!
(There's just one left in my shop if you're interested!).
My relationship with soldering has been rocky.
At first it intimidated me so much. I kept failing and got frustrated and anxious every time I needed to solder something.
Then, with patience, I slowly started to get better and everything changed. There's still a lot to learn, but now I can say it's one of my favourite parts of the process!

Last summer I attended a market near some salt lakes, a natural habitat for flamingos, and got inspired to create these earrings.
They are made of hammered and antiqued copper, and can be found here.
It's important for me to show how my jewelry is made, so people can see it's truly 100% handmade and value the effort that goes into each piece.
So I spend a lot of time making process videos for different social media.
