Let your thoughts flow freely, and the wind will carry them across to where they need to be. It is in the most unsuspecting of places where a whispering of hope can be heard. All you have to do is listen.

Behind every garden wall, there grows a blossoming of secret whisperings, ready to be cradled away in the gentle breeze.

“If you will stay close to nature, its simplicity, to the small things hardly noticeable, those things can unexpectedly become great and immeasurable”.

There was something about this waterfall which was incredibly captivating. Murchison Falls highlights the real force of the elements and how nature can be so destructive yet so stunningly beautiful at the same time. Somehow time slows when you witness the flow of water in its natural embodiment. This was a particular highlight of our travels in Uganda.

“Lavender is for lovers true, which evermore be faine; Desiring always for to have some pleasure for their paine: And when that they obtained have the love that they require, Then have they all their perfect joy, and quenched is the fire.” - Clement Robinson
This was captured within the grounds of Canterbury Cathedral one Summer whilst I studied at University there. I miss the quaint buildings and cobbled stones, and how these mysterious paths interweave throughout the city, often leading you to places new. What better way is there to learn than by sometimes getting lost.

Do not kill yourself.
Not today. It’s not your time yet. Hold on to the hope that tomorrow will bring better news than today. And if it doesn’t, that’s okay, because it is not yet the end of your story. Don’t let the closing chapters define you. The continuation of life despite how ugly and messy it can sometimes feel is what sustains us. It carries us through and somehow, we still survive. The human mind can be subject to abuse of unimaginable kinds, and yet the human heart responds with an extraordinary level of resilience.
It’s okay to retreat into a bubble of safety in times of distress. It’s okay to feel at your worst, and it certainly is okay to feel like the suffering will never end. This is all okay because it is all real. It is a part of the genetic make up behind what makes us human. To feel is to exist. And to exist is to simply be. An affirmation of faith is made in every step made, because we simply do not know what cards will be dealt next.
And yet still, in these moments of quiet bravery, our very existence finds a way of carrying us over to the other side. Where comfort may be found in the discomfort of the unknown, illumined only by the faith that we will come out of it alive. In a world filled with so much fear and anguish; pain and suffering; torture and torment, do not succumb to the temptation that the door to your soul must remain permanently closed. For this is where loneliness lies.
Opening up your heart can be a fearful concept when you have been subject to abuse previously in life, as your vulnerabilities are worn on your sleeve for everybody’s taking. Your sensitivities are magnified and everything feels brutally painful. When you have been stripped back to the bare bones of your very existence, you become unwillingly exposed to the harsh and cruel realities of the world. Like salt in a wound, each societal statement escalates into a personal attack on your mind that your insecurities leach onto. Your inside voice rises to the challenge and becomes your worst enemy, extinguishing any ray of hope that you may have otherwise held onto.
And yet on the contrary, the opening up of your heart also allows for the opportunity to transform. That this feeling of loneliness might one day silently shift into a state of peaceful quiet and stillness. It is in this place that we are able to reflect. It is in this very moment of acknowledgement that we are opened up to the warmth of love.

Throwback to Sipi Falls, Uganda. Hiking to this waterfall took us a good part of 2 hours, but the breathtaking views and refreshing water made every part of the experience worth the while.

Wembury Beach is home to a strip of Devonshire land which acts not only as a National Trust sight but also as a naturalistic treasure, preserving natural beauty in its original form. This was taken last Summer on a cool, breezy walk by the sea.

This was taken from the heights of Sipi Falls in Mbale, North Western Uganda after a two hour hike to the top of the mountains, and not long before an abseil down the 100ft waterfall. I miss the freedom of just walking through miles of trees and coffee farms, and experiencing nothing but endless sense of wanderlust.
