Do you have any good Led Zeppelin fan fictions that you would recommend? There was one I read called “angel with a broken ring” I really liked that one. Sadly it’s unfinished I hope they make more chapter of that.

Hello anon, yes! There are so many talented writers in our fandom. There are actually too many to list here but I’ll give it a try! I usually only read Jimmy stories, so the list will mainly be centered around him. In no particular order bc they’re all amazing, and also sometimes the authors just have waaay too many great stories to list, so just check out their blogs!

The Farm Frolics series by @laluxea and @ri0thouse, and their other stories are incredible, too

Anything by @jonesyjonesyjonesy but my obsession of late is the absolutely fucking epic Wildflowers saga

Anything by @jimmys-zeppelin. Amazing one shots and addictive chapter stories, as well!

Anything by @ledbythreads. Beautiful, angsty, poignant and often heartbreaking Jimbert goodness.

Anything by LadyGrange on ao3. Thought provoking and visceral Jimmy smut.

Anything by @miss-violet. Her Pangbourne porn series is fucking killer smut!

“In the Light” and it’s sequel “Starshine” by @ritacaroline, a massive tale of true love, starring Jimmy!

@lady-jane3 is an incredibly prolific writer and has written for all four of the boys. One of my particular faves is a Jimmy/Jonesy/female OC threesome.

Anything by Mi_Chan on ao3. My personal favorite ever LZ fic is the “Good Times, Bad Times” series.

Sodium_Amytal on ao3 has authored some absolute fandom classics. “Five Years Gone” and “The Road So Far” might as well be required reading at this point. For good reason! I’ve read them over and over.

“For All The Gods Departed” is known as one of the original Zep fics from back in the 70’s. It was written by Pamela Rose and Nancy Arena and circulated amongst the fandom in physical form back in those days. For decades it was thought to be lostfic, but earlier this year the story in it’s entirety was uploaded to ao3 under the username pamela_rose. A fandom miracle! FATGD is a Jimbert story, but writing about Jimmy and Robert in such a way in the largely homophobic 70’s could have caused real-life fallout for them, so the characters of Tris, Alex, and their band, Paradox, are used as proxies. It is a full-length novel. It is absolutely epic. Strap yourself in.

@superstarfiction is a really fucking sexy Jimmy story. Unfinished but so worth the read.

@deadlynightshade-and-hyacinth has another insanely sexy Jimmy story. It’s unfinished but it’s some of the best smut I’ve ever read.

@lightandshade is also unfinished but undoubtedly worth your time. Two friends get picked out of the crowd to be Robert and Jimmy’s companions for the evening and marvelous, rapturous smut ensues.

@firethatgrewsolow is the creator of the fandom classic Mich and Rob series, and a few other incredible stories, as well. I’m a Jimmy girl through and through so I don’t usually read Robert fic, but the incredible writing and storytelling just sucked me right in.

@brownskinsugarplum76 also sucked me in with the Rob stories! Way too many to list, just close your eyes and choose one, they’re all wonderful.

@tangerine-page Has the “Jimmy Page: Session Man” story and it was actually the first LZ fic I ever read! It’s unfinished but a fun read.

@starrie-amethyst has a brand new, ultra-kinky Jimmy smut which I loved reading and can’t wait for more!

@summerofsmiles has two heartbreaking Jimmy stories which I just read recently, within the past month, and even though they’re heartbreaking, they were magnificent to read. Very physical and in the moment. There is also a third fic that is more lighthearted and was a super fun read.

And now I will shamelessly plug my own story, “The Taking of James,” which you can find on my blog by searching for ‘Jimmy Page Fan Fiction,’ and can also be found on my ao3, under the name lzep. It features incredibly smutty Zep group sex and I fully realize it may not be for everyone!

Of course, there are many other stories on here that are on my list to read and I just haven’t gotten around to them yet. I really love LZ fan fic, as you can see. Hopefully this gets you off to a good start!

June 11, 1972 - Baltimore - The band seems like they’re in a great mood and Robert is very chatty.  Some gems during the show - Right after STH, Robert talks about having just seen Elvis the day before.  He makes a few comments (in good humor) about how his voice has come down a few keys and his waist has gotten a bit bigger.  (Ahem, ever heard of the pot and the kettle?)  Then, of course, he throws in something about some “chicks.”  After Tangerine, Bonzo does a quick Johnny Cash impression then laughs hysterically like only he can do (it’s quick and faint but hilarious).  Robert’s introduction of Bonzo (which comes right after) is so funny, too.  Oh, and at the beginning of the show he messes up the lyrics to Immigrant Song.  Just a fantastic listen!!

hi! have you read any led zeppelin biographies? and can you recommend any?

Indeed, I have, my dearest anon. I think I've read just over a dozen Zeppelin books [my copy of Zeppelin and Philosophy just arrived!] and have two on display here in my home.

I can’t say I have a single ‘favorite,’ because they all fit in as pieces to the puzzle that is Led Zeppelin. The first one I read was Hammer of the Gods because we already owned a copy.  Are the critics right about it being over sensationalized and full of ‘fish stories’ (pun intended)?  Definitely.  But that doesn’t mean it makes for a bad read or is void of any remnants of the truth.

Despite what Jimmy says, to me a big part of the magic about Zeppelin is in the myths that surround them.The scene, the overindulgence, the sex, the drugs, the groupies, the world travels, the decade itself, the philosophizing, the folktales and fables, cultural influences, experimentation, pushing boundaries, etc.  In the history and hedonism and how it all played out for them.

I take everything I ready about Zep with a grain of salt, knowing that the over-sensationalized stories are just as far from the truth as the modest ‘we were playing monopoly then in bed by 11pm’ stories.

That being said, I don’t think it’s wrong to read Stephen Davis’ book, it’s almost a right of passage to me as a Zeppelin fan (His book based on the ‘lost notebooks’ from ‘75 is another goody if you want the juicy stuff). 

But Mick Wall’s When Giants Walked the Earth is fabulous- he writes with a level head but it still makes for a wicked read, a great choice for your first foray into Zeppelin.

Tramped Underfoot: The Power and Excess by Barney Hoskyns sets itself apart because of how it’s written- it’s all quotes and anecdotes woven together (chronologically, if I remember correctly, as opposed to thematic) to give an ‘in the wings of the stage’ or fly-on-the-wall kind of feel.  Very cool, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a Zep starter.

Once you’ve done the “Gen Ed requirements” you’re ready to dive a little deeper.  Perhaps one of the books on the lyrics like From a Whisper to a Scream or Dazed and Confused, or any of the “Zeppelin on Zeppelin” quote and interview compilations.  Then there’s the books that focus on Peter Grant, or Cole’s semi-blasphemous account in Stairway to Heaven. Or the individual bios, of course.
