His pack had been different from others as his pack chose leaders differently. The leaders would always be the first son or daughter of the current leader and John had been the firstborn of his parents, he was the chosen one to lead the pack once he had grown enough. He would say it was rather tragic that he presented omega but his parents nor the pack changed their opinion on the matter, they wanted John as their leader and nothing nor no one would change that decision.

He grew up training to take the reigns from his parents and to also make a living. He entered into an apprenticeship with a local and well-known healer who took him under his wing to teach him all he needed to know to become a healer himself. Eventually he found a an alpha he fell in love with, an alpha who loved him back, and they mated.

John became a healer and the mate of a wonderful alpha, but before he could even conceive their first child true tragedy struck. A well respected noble came to his clinic wanting medical attention. John did his best and did so wonderfully but the patient was unsatisfied. Claiming John had made him go through pain on purpose, he had John’s mate arrested and killed for John’s apparent lack of gentleness.

The omega had no choice but to go on with life and soon became the leader of his back. He never mated again, he couldn’t bare to lose his mate once more in this blasted city. So, he decided to pick the second-in-command to take his place once the time came. His child was trained for the position while the pack was filled with unrest wanting the omega to bear children he did not want. He wasn’t willing to lose another mate to the system, to a noble who couldn’t take some little pain. It was unfair he had to stay alone, it was unfair he couldn’t have children, but he was oh so scared he didn’t care about any of that.

Then, one day, something strange happened and he was taken away from the home he had known all his life and into a new one. The locals said it was called New Haven and according to what he was listening around him, John had traveled into the future. It seemed out of the question for him butt he technology, the structures, the people themselves! everything screamed that he had indeed traveled in time.

He and the others were helped into settling into the new city, they were given homes and jobs according to what they already knew with the option of changing careers later on so they choose to. John decided to enter school and learn the new kinds of medicine, to update himself. If he was going to live in this new world then he had to adapt and that wasn’t easy for someone his age.

He had decided to stay in New Haven was his best option, he was safe from hunters here and he had a place to live too, and a job to go with it. He was learning, slowly but surely, and he could get great things from this world that was so much freer than his own. Omegas were in power here! It was so unlike the old home that he just felt compelled to stay and make the best of it.

Writing Challenge #3

Having a pup to take care of now, John first puts Alex to sleep. Sometimes she cooperates and sleeps fast, sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night, sometimes she sleeps late, and sometimes she sleeps all night. It's a gamble really. Depending on that, he would wash his teeth, take a shower depending on the day he had, and read a book before going to bed.

Once he reads his book for a while, he puts it away, and goes to sleep. Then, he gets his rest depending on what his pup demands of him. Sometimes he sleeps all night, sometimes he wakes up in the middle of the night to her cries. He doesn't mind despite being tired, he loves her and is so glad to have her in his life.

"How are you doing?" Sven asked with a smile has he walked in. There was one thing about Sven, the male could be cold and heartless and not caring about anything nor really anyone but, he honestly did care about his child and did everything he could to support John and his baby girl. John knew Sven could be heartless, but he wasn't like that towards him and their baby. Alex was a blessing to John, she was everything he could ever dream of. He knew this world was better for a baby than his own back in the past. "Thank you, Sven. We're doing well. I'm a bit tired, but that comes with the responsibility," he replies as he goes to place Alex in a small crib he had there. He took the dinner and uncovered it just watching Sven go towards the baby.

Hardin felt a strange air between them, which of course was natural given the circumstances. John probably didn't expect to run into him, and it was clear he didn't have a rehearsed speech prepared for the occasion. That in itself had him relax somewhat, even if it was still awkward.

He waited for John to finish speaking before answering what he expected to be rhetorical questions. Nevertheless, he didn't mind stating that he was Sven's boyfriend, or the fact that he held no ill will toward either of them. Their relationship was open, except that it wasn't—not exactly. Hardin did trust easily and therefore stayed loyal to Sven. He was, after all, his first boyfriend and first everything. He knew Sven had a liaision or two, but it rarely came up in conversation. It was possible for things to change but at the end of the day it was Hardin in his bed.

"It's okay...really," he held up his palms as if to show peace. Not like he'd take a swing at a pregnant, much older wolf. No, Hardin wouldn't choose violence that day. "He'll be a great father—caring, attentive, nurturing. I have immense faith in him," he revealed, but didn't dive in further. Sven had taken nothing but good care of him since they met. Probably the first person to actually see his worth.

"How far along are you?" he asked since it didn't seem polite to gander a guess.

John's shoulders dropped as he relaxed thanks to those words. Things were less awkward now that they had cleared this up. “I’m sure he will be, already looking forward to it actually,” he says in response. He didn’t know Sven that well, but the man seemed like a good father to him when he had agreed to be impregnated by him. Something he wasn’t sure if Hardin knew or not was the fact that they had agreed to this pregnancy, it hadn’t been an accident, but he wasn’t going to be the one to discuss that with Hardin. Even less right now.

He actually smiled at the other and even more so at the question. “Halfway there, just 3 weeks and 4 days,” he says caressing his bump. The body changes were killing his body, but the joy was filling his soul with happiness.

“Want to grab some coffee? I… I would like to get to know you better. You are Sven’s boyfriend and we’ll be certainly seeing each other often.” John actually says taking the initiative. “I just need to pay for these items, and we can meet at the café next door,” he adds offering him to sit down, which would bring relief to his body, and to chat some more. Maybe bond a little.

He had come to be afraid of some of his patients too because of what had happened to his mate, but, here? Here he didn’t have to be afraid of any of that!

He didn’t want to impose those feelings on the other though, their past might be very different but their old world would still feel like home and despite his fear of going back, he knew that very well. “I believe you, our times were…tough on everyone. Especially children,” he lowered his head at that. “I guess that plus the loss of my mate stopped me from having children then,” it’s all he dares to say without intruding much in his life.

“Oh, of course!” He says moving his hands away from his swollen belly where he had come to rest them. He was right about children here seeming sacred to people but he had heard horror stories as an intern in the hospital. Stories about hunters and their lack of empathy toward the young. If they were bad in the past, they were just as bad now.

Yes, the world they came from was harsh indeed, and too often parents of that time had to bury their children. Burcu knew the grief and pain of losing a loved one well, and knows intuitively that this other omega understood. For natives of this time, their life events were ancient history while for Burcu and the other travelers, those memories could still feel fresh.

Even so, this was not a moment to dwell on their pain but instead bask in the bright, pregnant glow the other gave off. Burcu hadn’t felt a single moment of true happiness in New Haven until then, his large hand splayed across the wolf’s stomach filling his heart with so much light that he beamed.

“I look forward to having this little one in my daycare. I can tell they’ll be filled with exuberance,” he chuckles, pulling his hand back and gazing at it as if the sun was shining from his fingertips. “It’s my wish that every omega experiences the bliss of parenthood. I was blessed with six times so far. Do you think you'll have more? Sorry, I know it's probably too soon to think about that, but I think it's natural to miss pregnancy once our children are born!"

His radiance was amazing to see, the way he got excited to feel his belly even when his baby was still and not kicking yet made John so happy. He himself was static about this, he finally would be having children and he wouldn't have to be afraid for their safety, this was the best that ever happened to him but he understood others might want to go back home like the man in front of himself, Burcu.

"You think?" He asks looking down at his belly, just a little more time and he'll have the baby in his arms even if the body changes were killing his body in pains right now.

"No, no, I don't mind the question at all. I wish to have more but I am not mated. The sire of my baby is with someone else right now. He wanted a baby from me and I wanted a baby too so things happened. Maybe one day if I find a mate, I'd have more." He replies with a soft smile. It was a big if in his books but for now one was enough.

“No, no I was walking backward as if I had eyes on the back of my head,” he laughed at the mere idea and shook his head. Still, it was good that the accident happened with someone nice and understanding.

He smiled at the other’s considerations, he was barely getting used to the attention people gave him for being pregnant. It was odd because he was used to handling himself but it was nice that people took such considerations with him and his baby. He was just so happy to be finally pregnant that he was basking in the attention said pregnancy received just because he got to show off he was finally having a baby! “You are right about the excitement but I doubt such small collision had any effects on the baby,” he says now a bit worried too, and placing a hand over this bump. “I’m a doctor you see? And while tending to one’s self is not exactly good practice, I think is safe to say the baby is fine. In the old age pregnant people would have worse collisions and be fine, but that’s one thing I like about your modern world, and is the technology that improved medicine so much allowing for better pregnancies.” He says as he follows the other and takes a seat in the shoe aisle.

“Thanks, you didn’t have to,” he says with a sigh of relief as he finally seats after so much walking. He had been going through the entire store just looking at things. “It’s my first baby and I am very excited about it. Always wanted kids but I never had the chance.”

Burcu offers a sympathetic smile as he helps the other omega find somewhere to rest his feet. The tenderness he extends was one he learned during his days in the mountains, for even the most war-hungry alphas understood that an omega’s pregnant times were sacred. For Burcu, they were the only times he was allowed peace. 

“I do not claim this future as my own. I still long for a return back,” he confesses, though not with the intention to dwell. They may be beyond the time of healers and herb poultices, but Burcu believed the past he was born in held wisdom that’d benefit this age. “I’ve seen alphas exiled or worse for smaller offenses against pregnant omegas. It still feels so recent that children embodied the continuation of bloodlines, the fitness of a pack, and...” 

Before Willowshire, they also represented fresh graves to dig since the mountain packs were always at war. There’s no telling what fate befell the children left behind there, but Burcu can only pray that they lived the rest of their lives in peace. “I find much wrong with this period, but one thing I find right is the attitude surrounding children. Here, they only seem to embody joy and love. I am very happy you’ll get to experience both,” Burcu says, smiling in spite of the sadness in his eyes. “Is it alright if I feel?”

what's your muse's favorite aspect of their own personality?

John was shaped from early age to be the leader of a pack despite him presenting as omega he kept being trained to be the leader of said pack. No questions asked. His packed loved him too despite him being an omega they respected him. So, while his favorite aspect of their own personality is one that was shaped to be like that, is still his predilect. Which would be being firm about decisions and other stuff.

While he can change his mind sometimes he's just very firm about his decisions and they won't change that easily. His direct too and he likes that about himself as well.

how are your muse's table manners? do they sit a napkin on their lap? do they know which forks and spoons to use? do they have any particular preferences at the dinner table?

He's learning some table ethic now but he used to eat like anyone else did. He grew up in the Royal City, yes, but his pack was very poor and very frowned upon for having an omega as a pack leader. So, while he ate with forks and spoons and the likes when required, he also used his hands. He uses more utensils now than he did before, and he tries to be more clean and ethical while eating nowadays though not overly so.

So, you can say that he eats like everybody else does with certain ethics when the time requires it.

does your muse have any routines or expected behaviors throughout the day? if not, why do they avoid following a routine?

He does have routines. He gets up, showers, brushes his teeth, makes and eats breakfast, goes to a coffee shop to get some coffee, then goes to work. Once home from work, he showers again, and makes his dinner. From then he either walks around town or seats to watch some of that thing called television. Once night falls, he gets into his pajamas and goes to bed.

His life is a simple one, you could say most of his day is routinary but once he has dinner he changes what he does to give his life a little bit of energy so to say. He is also looking to meet more people and get to know the town better.

when your muse enters a grocery store, what's the first section they walk to and why?

Meats. He learned that is the most expensive product so he gets his meats first so he can know what to buy next and how much he can buy after getting all the meat he needs. He lives alone so is not like he cooks for a lot of people but he do enjoy cooking so he always has plenty to cook and even to make for guests.
