We do not speak We have not spoken since the night at the Opera House, which is may likely be for the best. I still do not have words to treat with your demon, and I will presume that it feels much the same. That you and he have collected such a company around you as Thedas has never seen, even as you move to complete contracts no Crow would think to attempt, fills me with both fear and amazement.
You have often said that words and charm are things I possess that you do not, but as I sit alone in my failure room, with only scattered, worthless allies and death in my wake, perhaps neither of us has been very good at understanding one another over the years. We did once, but time and Caterina's training have made a mockery of what came to us naturally as children.
I lack the words to abase myself properly apologize, so instead I offer this in exchange: I have no more taste for the title you now carry, and I will not repeat the mistakes of misusing your trust again. Not that I possess that trust now, and may never again. But know that now, here, that is my ambition. That you will understand that in this loss, I see clearly what I hunger for, and which enticements were merely the folly of ambition.

Overview of some topics when it comes to drawing characters who are burn survivors.
DISCLAIMER. Please keep in mind that this is an introductory overview for drawing some burn scars and has a lot of generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People. I'm calling this introductory because I hope to get people to actually do their own research before drawing disabled & visibly different characters, rather than just making stuff up. Think of it as a starting point and take it with a grain of salt (especially if you have a very different art style from mine).
Talking about research and learning... don't make your burn survivor characters evil. Burn survivors are normal people and don't deserve to be constantly portrayed in such a way.

Edit: How are people seeing this post where I specifically talk about burn survivors being normal, real people, and still tag this as "TW body horror"? Not a single one of these drawings or pictures is a fresh injury. All of them are healed. How the hell would you feel if someone tagged a photo of you as "trigger warning: gore"?
Disabled people are not your fucking body horror. Grow up.
as I've been lately feeling some type of way (bad) about The Numbers I think it'd be useful for other people to know you can easily make an AO3 skin that hides stats (kudos, bookmarks, comments, etc.) on all works (both your and someone else's) with this simple guide by an anonymous user to give yourself some peace of mind
Lucanis often came into the music room when things were weighing on him, and today was no different.
Except it was.
He's an assassin. He's seen more than his fair share of death. Hell, he's inflicted more than his fair share of death. But what he'd seen at Weisshaupt shocked him to his core. It was wanton death and destruction on a scale he still couldn't fathom. So many people dead because of the cruelty of blighted elven mages.
He couldn't get his head around it. He'd paced in his room for hours before looking out over the Fade from the balcony outside the dining hall. He was desperately trying to clear his head, to no avail. He decided to go to the music room to see if that helped.
He'd always loved music, and he'd frequently come in here and play the piano when he wanted to clear his mind. Focusing on the notes he was playing helped him to get away from whatever problem he was facing, and he often found that he could think more clearly about solutions after he'd been playing for a while.
But not this time. He'd tried to play, but no matter which piece of music he played, it felt hollow... soulless. The notes were correct - as usual - but the heart wasn't there. There was no life to it.
Much like Weisshaupt.
He swung his legs around the stool and leaned forward. He heaved a sigh as he went through what happened in his mind again. He'd had his shot and he'd missed it. Because of his pain and distraction, he'd lost his shot to end the cause of all this misery. Because of him, almost a thousand people had lost their lives. No matter how many times Rook tried to tell him it wasn't his fault, he knew it was. Because of him, Weisshaupt had lost its life, and until he could find a way to fix this, the music would have no life... no heart.
As the title suggests there is another Lucanis week happening over on Bluesky and though it may be hosted there, I'm going to share here too, because Lucanis!
