The Gibberd Garden (June the 8th)
We went to visit The Gibberd Garden in Harlow Essex on a very sunny afternoon in June. To reach it you have to go along a single-tracked road which opens up to a grass-covered car park. We paid £5 each which we both thought was about £2 more than it should be. It looks like a 1950/60's house that is open to the public on certain days, (not the day we visited). There was a barn to buy refreshments and cakes and such and was surrounded by a garden with many statues, plants, ponds, monuments, and a stream, and also many paths that connected different areas of the garden. It has a very calming, tranquil feel about it and we were there for about 2 hours. Unfortunately, we didn't take any photos which was an oversight on our part.
Trevor. When we went we were blessed with beautiful weather and all the people that we met who run Gibberd Gardens were friendly and pleasant. Although the entrance fee was a bit high for what's there, in my opinion, the actual gardens are beautiful, very calming and not too far to walk around. I wouldn't say I am a sculpture enthusiast and there are a lot of sculptures that are a matter of taste but the flowers, tranquility and the atmosphere is well worth a visit. Jayne: I thought this garden was a well-hidden little corner of the quintessential English garden. Full of interesting nooks and crannies and adventurous areas linking into one another. I thought it displayed a clever use of arches, trees, a tiny island a moat even- quite charming. Appealing to all ages as it had plenty of areas for picnics and ball games. We bought a booklet picturing all the different statues which were fun to spot. Some people were painting the countryside around them. We ambled quite merrily along. A bit of a gem in my opinion and somewhere we will venture back to in the future.

Blogged off
Hiya all, we are Trevor and Jayne from the United Kingdom. We are in our fifties, I am more fifty than Jayne and we have both decided to write an honest, truthful, and sometimes humourous post about our travels abroad as well as our day trips and outings in the UK as well. We will talk about the food, the scenery, the people that we meet, and whether we feel it is worth visiting for us or for people of our ilk. This doesn't mean this will only be useful to those 50 years and above but being in our twilight years, clubs with teenagers and younger people, loads of noise and therefore loads of people are things we try to keep away from. We also like a bargain so whether it is worth the money is something we will also mention. We will write in different colours so you know who is writing. I, Trevor will be Purple and Jayne will be Orange, and when we are writing together the usual black. We hope that we give you the information and advice you need and if we can also make you smile in the process then we will be well chuffed.
