"I suppose there's nothing more to discuss. Kimura is the mastermind, or at least the one who locked us in here."
I vote for Kimura as mastermind. Sorry, Kimura.
Chouko Kimura... as mastermind. I'm sorry.
I...I guess I'm voting for Chouko...
Chouko's the mastermind!
Oof, here's a quickie [Seki RE: Yukito]
Seki stood awkwardly waiting for the people he addressed to reply… but it seems as if they were all busy being lost in their own thoughts. He could understand…
Surprisingly it was Yuki-sama who spoke to him.
"… Yea… I guess you’re right." He said, somewhat quietly.
He then silently watched as people began to submit their votes for the mastermind. Including Kimi-sama and Mo-chan.
… He may have doubts about Chouko being responsible (after all it seemed like EVERYONE was responsible for this mess they’re in) … but if Mo-chan and Kimi-sama believe it’s true then by golly it must be true.
He silently submitted his vote. He believed in them. He really did.
C-Ch... Chou... ko... Kimura... f-for Mastermind...
Is there any doubt at this point? Chouko Kimura for mastermind. Sorry, I guess.
Kimi locks in her vote for Chouko silently, staring at the floor. Rather distracted, aren't we, Kimi?
Ch-Chouko Kimura is the mastermind. That's my v-vote.
... I vote Chouko Kimura as Mastermind.
"Hey. If it was really the headmaster who set us all up in here, shouldn't he be the one to die? If he's the one behind the killing."
You misunderstand. I said the mastermind was the one who locked you in here. It's their fault to begin with.
さようなら。。。I Chouko [RE. Moko, Kaede, Keiko, Seki, Yukito[
Chouko has remained confused as they votes had co9me in and had voiced her confusion as such… Everyone else seemed to get what was ging on but it just didn’t connect for her. She had no idea why, but that was how things were happening at this moment weren’t they.
Then Moko confessed to killing Goro… All Chouko could do was tilt her head a bit in a response. There was little to say… They had no discussed the murder at all… They had gone straight for the mastermind stuff hadn’t they? It wasn’t hard to believe they would miss the murderer like that, but it would all be okay… She thought. Not having a clue as to why that would be. Since, well, Moko seemed relieved about this vote.
Oh yeah/ They had chosen her.
Chouko seemed to be holding together though until she head Kaede’s distraught voice, the smaller girl running over to cling to her. Chouko blinked, looking down slowly at Kaede herself. Upset… No… Friends shouldn’t be upset…
"D-Don’t worry Iga-chan! I-I’m not going anywhere."
She seemed to have tears forming in her eyes as she spoke, having no clue why though… What she was saying was the truth. At least to her it was…
Gently she wrapped her arms around the girl, patting her back gently. There was a smile on her face, still not realizing what was approaching…
"D-Don’t cry Iga-chan… I’m sure it’ll be okay!"
She could at the least tell that she was slightly crying, but still having no idea why she didn’t try to stop it…
Friends were supposed to help one another. And she had tried… And she would keep trying. Even if… Maybe some things were not the best of ideas.
Still standing there hugging Kaede she glanced just a bit over to Keiko as she began to speak.
"Aki-chan…"
She smiled a bit, tears falling down her cheeks… They… Forgave her?
"I-I had wanted us to all… B-Be safe together…. But I guess I messed up in the end…"
She almost seemed to laugh, trying to ignore the tears still falling down her face.
Though… She had no answer to Seki… No words would come to her for something such as that request. What was it… And how… She didn’t know.
Shoulders shaking, she took another few moments to actually realize that Yukito had come over as well. She hadn’t really thought about… How short the two of them were… And his words that followed… Such… Stiff words…
Misunderstanding of death…? What…? A slow blink, tears still somewhat clouding her vision…
She couldn’t even get such an explanation of it… That would mean… Admitting so many things had happened… No. Even in this state. She couldn’t admit to that, she couldn’t admit that she would need to believe that.
Saito wouldn’t like her… For not admitting this… But she couldn’t. No.
There’s little she could say… She knew they were going to vote for her but she didn’t… Quite think what was going to happen afterwards did she? No… No she didn’t.
"I-It’ll be okay. I’m glad… If I can help everyone."
They were all he friends after all. If she couldn’t help them what kind of a friend was she?
Gott Weiß Ich Will Kein Engel Sein (Yukito, RE: Chouko, Seki, Kaede, Moko)
His mind was reeling. Nothing Chouko said made sense. He’d known for years he couldn’t handle this kind of…situation. Even without the whole ‘mutual killing’ thing, the idea of being trapped in a place like this forever, never to return home, never to feel the wind in his hair or the sun on his face, was about as close as to hell as he could possibly imagine. What could have possibly convinced him this was a good idea? Nothing. He would never lock himself in willingly. She had to be lying. This couldn’t be true…
But the trial was over. Chouko had been voted guilty. Only one person had to die today. That was…that had to be for the best, right? They were going to vote her as mastermind anyways, so she’d probably die, right…? Only one more person had to die before this was all finally over. And nothing mattered more than getting out.
And just as the trial ended, Moko spoke up. A few weeks, maybe even days ago, he’d have gotten angry or sad or felt something. But not now and not here and right now it felt like he’d never feel quite right about anything ever again. If he had to try and put a finger on what emotion came to pass at her confession, it might have been something along the lines of a muted disappointment. But not surprise. It wasn’t as if she had shown herself to be all that bright in the past in his eyes, so her doing something like this was on some level expected.
But given long enough here, they all would have turned into murderers anyway, wouldn’t they? Most of them already were, in a sense. He’d voted people to their deaths several times already. What was the difference between him and the people who had actually killed someone with their own hands? Nothing, really. Nobody was innocent here. If they thought they were, they were lying to themself.
It was only when Kaede broke down that he started paying attention. What was he supposed to say? Sending Chouko to her death in lieu of the actual culprit was his idea in the first place. So he chose to say nothing, and instead simply walked over to Chouko’s podium and hugged the both of them.
And then Seki had to speak up. He closed his eyes, knowing he had to respond but not particularly wanting to speak with the other boy. There was so much he could say but so little energy to do it with.
"It’s her. Honestly she has been on my suspect list for a while now. And to be honest her lack of understanding regarding death makes her more suspicious. If someone had a full comprehension of what this game entailed, they might have admitted to causing it a long time ago just out of a guilty conscience. While I do think she was being manipulated, and she may have been selected for this job specifically due to that trait, we have no idea whether or not the headmaster is even here, much less whether he’s alive or dead. Yes, I think he’s the worst person in this situation. But all we can do is follow the rules we were given at this point."
They’d come this far already, after all. Now there was no going back.
"So let me put it this way. She is already going to die. If you try to back out on the vote, a second person may die as well. Or you can vote for the person the evidence we gathered points to, and only one person will be killed regardless of whether or not we walk out of here, though given we practically have a full confession I think we will be."
Very confuddled [Seki ATTN: Asa, Sumi, Morita]
Seki was confused. More confused than he had ever been in his entire life. He didn’t fully register Moko grabbing his arm for comfort. He was too busy thinking… Thinking about the mastermind, Chouko, how everyone seemed to be involved in this plot to trap themselves here… it was… a lot to handle. Especially on an empty stomach.
And then Moko ended up confessing for Goro-dono’s death… So he wanted to die huh? Well… that certainly sounded like Goro-dono… He wanted to say something to her, but he supposed that could wait til later. For now, he had to focus on getting the host.
It seemed so obvious at first that Chouko was the one who did everything. So so so so obvious. But now… it seemed as if everyone was involved. It also sounded as if Chouko was simply taking orders from the headmaster… or at least someone else. If that’s true then… whose to blame? Plus Chouko looked so clueless about everything… didn’t she know she was going to die?!
"… Nngnnh… nn…" He whined, clutching the side of his head.
Everything was swirling up in Seki’s head. It gave him a really bad headache. He was never the brightest banana in the bunch, and thinking about such complex issues was just too much.
"…"
What would Pops do… He looked over to Keiko and Kaede… it looked like they needed more time before they could discuss anything… Yukito would probably be too busy comforting Kaede to speak so…
"Hey uh… Asa? Sumi? Uhm… Morita? I —uh… I don’t know if Chouko really is the one who did all this…" He said, his voice wavering slightly. "I mean… that bear is preparing to kill her?! And she seems so clueless…? I don’t know if… nngh"
There it is again… that massive headache. He rubbed his right temple with his hand. He needs to think less often. Blurgh.
"I just really don’t know anymore. If she’s the host we’re looking for that is…"
well | keiko | re: chouko
Keiko sits quietly as the votes pour in. Well, of course she hadn’t voted for Chouko. Chouko was innocent of the murder, and as she considers it, innocent of…everything? It hadn’t been her fault they were forced to kill, and it hadn’t been her fault Keiko was blind, so why…
"I’m sorry…Ki…Chouko-san…"
She grits her teeth, leaning on someone’s podium. The room is empty enough as is, so they probably won’t care…
"I’m so sorry…this happened…to you and…t-to all of us…"
Instinctively she rubs at her blindfold like there’s tears there.
"T-Thank you for…being my friend…and I f-forgive you for…whatever you did. E-Even though it sounds like…it wasn’t your fault…even if it was, I-I…forgive you…"
Chouko is going to die for either a murder she didn’t commit or a plan that unintentionally went bad, and Keiko can do nothing about it. She herself had had a hand in everything, firing people, apparently, so why was only Chouko in trouble…?
"This is…t-too unfair…it’s not f-fair, if it wasn’t h-her fault, then she shouldn’t have to- she shouldn’t…”
Way to make words, Keiko. Proud of you.
"I w-wish…wish…that you could leave with u-us, Chouko-san…b-but I…I…"
Let’s just cut that off before her speech deteriorates even further, shall we? With a small wheeze, she leans even further onto the podium, hands clenched tightly by her sides.
