First of all, Iâd like to start by thanking all of you that wished me a good race! It is really appreciated.
Earlier in the day was my first triathlon ever! Since Iâve never done one before, I decided to register to the sprint distance, which is 750 meters swim, 20 kilometers bike and 5 kilometers run.Â
I woke up at 4h45 AM this morning since I was leaving my house at 5h30 AM. The triathlon that I participated to is âTriathlon de Valleyfieldâ. I needed to be on the site at 7 AM to get my runnerâs kit. Since my race started only at 9h12 AM, I had to eat my breakfast (which was a oatmeal with berries and maple syrup and a banana) around 6h30 so I ate it in the parking lot where every other triathlete was.Â
At 7 AM, I went on the site after I was done eating. They gave me my runnerâs kit, my microchip and they marked me my runnerâs number on my arms and legs. Before today, I wasnât really realizing that my triathlon was coming and that I actually registered at a triathlon. When they marked me my number, everything got so real. At 7h30 AM, when I passed to the transition area, everything I was thinking about is the fact that I was actually here and that my race was only 1h45 away from me.Â
The atmosphere all the morning was so amazing, everyone was so nice and friendly. I talked with a few other people and the helped me with things since it was my first triathlon and at the beginning I was a bit lost.Â
At 8h55 was the information meet right before my start. All the women of all ages that were doing the sprint distance were all leaving at the same time. So we were quite a lot.Â
At 9h10 was the time where they asked us to go in the water to go at the starting line. Everything was so real. The race was starting in two minutes.Â
All I could hear was the announcer saying â30 seconds left, everybody letâs encourage the womenâ, and then was the start. The swim passed by so fast. The bike was also pretty easy and it felt good. The run was a bit rough at the end. So lesson learned : I will pass more time to train for my running next time.Â
It was honestly a really nice day. I loved it. I definitely got bitten by triathlon. My objective for next year : Olympic Triathlon. 2017 Objective : Half-Ironman. Iâm taking about 5 days off and then training for next year will start!!Â
PS: I donât have the results of my race since I left at 12h30 PM and they werenât announced yet. I will get them via internet soon.
