LISA’S POSTERS! We were so pleased with these Grace Jones Portraits. The pop art, geometric style is really in keeping with the theme we are following.
Mimicking Slave to the Rhythm album cover we wanted a playful typographic title for our Symposium. By scanning and stretching her name it led to quite a tribal, playful font.
Grace Jone’s use of elementary shapes is used in headwear and is used in many of her outfits. These simple shapes with the colour palette expresses Grace Jones as the diverse and expressive artist she is.
Our narrowed down colour palette. Working with six colours that complement each other and all have a similar softness too them.
GETTING A COLOUR PALLETTE. We picked out her brighter colourful colours to play towards her colourful breadth of work
We love the range of colours, styles and expressions Grace jones portrays. Here are some of the mood boards we collated as a group which we feel resemble her best. We like the contrast she shows from her tribal pattern body paint work which is very black and white, compared to her geometric modern style which is very colourful.
WE GOT OUR NEW BRIEF. We are to design an event for a Grace Jones Symposium. Julia has been to see her live and another one of our team is a huge fan. With her range of talents and diversity of arts we are looking forward to getting stuck in.
SECOND SEMESTER COMMENCES FOR TRIBE AGENCY.
We welcome Sarah (bottom right) to Tribe for the second semester of Tribe Agency
Tribe agency leaders reflect on the first semester.
Reflecting on our first term as Tribe Studio
Finished TPR
I feel we ended up with a strong final outcome that reflected the team as a whole. At the start of the project I think the agency leaders took a bit too much of a demanding role, but when we got the rest of the team more involved, and delighted out the tasks throughout the group we came up with a more diverse range of ideas.
creating the different booklets to make up the document as a whole inside the box. Separating the sections of TPR allows more access to the document and better readability.
BRINGING COLOUR TO TRP.
-Circular font. For the headers, Dan chose to run with this font. The realist font gives an uplifting feel, with its curved counters and serifs. Its a playful font without being too formal.
splitting in the document into four sections....C, Y, M, K. Creating movement throughout with spray paint.
We divided the school of design into five key areas as a team. These are what we believed to be best representative. From here we can divide the publication up, to allow easier readability and separations.
the brief....
I would like to provide the Quality Office with an Analytical Report which tells them all about the Learning and Teaching procedures within Design but which also brings the diversity, innovation and creativity to be found in all the areas of Design to life through composition and images. The text needs to be clear and accessible to students, staff and the review panel of experts yet give a real taste of the School of Design through its design and layout. You may choose to commission fellow creatives to include imagery where relevant.
