Hit the heart for a small thing!
Honey, I rose up from the dead
I do it all the time
Sam in 13.21 Beat The Devil
Honey, I rose up from the dead
I do it all the time
Sam shifted so that he was laying more alongside Gabriel than atop him. He knew the angel could easily handle his weight, but he still felt like he shouldn’t just smother the smaller being. He tugged Gabe back in close, half-spooning him.
“A long while? Really?” Sam’s grin turned into a yawn. “I like the sound of that.”
“Yeah, me too.” Gabriel smiled, moving accordingly when Sam rolled off of him somewhat, allowing the man to pull him against him again and being happily wrapped up in Sam’s arms. A small snap of the fingers, and a weighted blanket fell easily over the both of them, and he closed his eyes in contentment. “Go to sleep Sammy. I’ll be here in the morning.”
Sam took advantage of Gabe tilting his head away, attacking more of his throat. He bit a few bruises into the skin & pulled back to watch the way they bloomed darkly on the skin only to fade away in seconds as the angel inside healed his vessel. Sometimes he wished his mark could stay, but he also liked seeing it disappear because it meant the angel was strong & in good health.
His smile softened at Gabe’s words & he leaned back in to capture his lips. “I think you might have surprised yourself if the situation had come up a decade ago,” he said. “You might’ve done it all flashy & outrageous, but I think you’d still have done it.” Sam lay back down atop the angel, loving having him underneath his weight again. “Because you’re a good man.”
Gabriel couldn’t help but laugh, even as Sam kissed him and then lay back down, wrapping his arms around those broad shoulders and stroking those silky locks again. “You have way too much faith in who I was ten years ago,” he teased. “But thanks Sammy. It’s nice to hear that you still thought I was good a long time ago.”
Sam let out a soft purr of sound at the feel of Gabe’s hands in his hair & over his back. The archangel had proven himself to be exceptionally tactile - he liked to touch. And Sam… he loved it. He loved being touched & held & just having the warmth of contact, whether it was sexual or not.
“You need to have more faith in yourself, whether we’re talking ten years ago or now,” Sam said. “Even when we first met… I didn’t like how you were doing things, but you were going after assholes. That’s good at the heart of it.’ Now you’ve just learned to look at all the consequences before you act.”
“And I still do go after assholes,” Gabriel replied. “I mean, I don’t explode them or drop them into wormholes or get them abducted by aliens. Not anymore...” Not as often, really, but Sam didn’t need to know that. Besides, he really had cut back on those old pranks. As good and funny as they were, they really drew too much attention to himself, which had led him to being caught by Sam multiple times, even before this relationship started.
He sighed then, closing his eyes and letting himself relax fully, the weight of Sam’s body a wonderful pressure. “Let’s get some rest now, eh Gigantor? And tomorrow I can treat you to breakfast in bed. I’m stayin’ for a good long while now.”
I fucking cackle at the beginning of the episode Tall Tales now because Gabriel’s leaving the building after locking it up and suddenly the professor’s body just crashes to the ground behind him and he turns and looks at it like he’s vaguely concerned and alarmed and it’s like
Gabe
What
Why do you look like that
You’re the one who killed the bastard

“Curious & bullheaded - and here all this time I thought Dean had rubbed off on him.” Sam turned to place slow, warm kisses over Gabe’s throat.
“It’s comforting to know you’re still mine,” Sam said. “But seeing as how you keep trying to sacrifice yourself or having to fake your death to get out of shit isn’t all that reassuring.” He propped himself up on an arm over the angel, looking down at him. “I love you for it, but I like it better if you do that where I can be around to help keep you safe.”
The kisses felt extra nice, and Gabriel closed his eyes happily, tilting his head back a bit to give the hunter better access. How amusing, when he thought about it. Baring one’s neck was a submissive gesture, a signal of deep trust. He couldn’t imagine doing this with anyone except a fair few, and now Sam was one of those few. It felt special.
“Hey,” he said mildly in reaction to Sam’s words, “I haven’t had to fake my death in over a year. Give me a little credit, Sasquatch, I’m learning. I took over for Heaven didn’t I? I wouldn’t have done that a decade ago.”

Gabriel grunted slightly when Sam grabbed him, yanking him across the bed to seal the archangel against his chest, all but laying on top of him as if to keep him locked in place. At least the bed was comfortable, and Sam was nice and warm, and Gabriel did like this kind of cuddling.
“I’ve been busy,” he mumbled. “I’m the only Archangel left, I gotta take responsibility now. Ugh.” He sighed a little. “Sorry I haven’t been able to keep in constant contact. It’s so boring now.”
Sam grumbled softly, but there wasn’t any real anger behind it. He & Dean understood better than most that sometimes the world had to come first.
Didn’t mean he couldn’t tease the angel, though.
“Look at you,” he said, face buried in the crook of Gabriel’s neck. “Being all responsible & adult-like now.”
“Ew gross,” Gabriel whined quietly. “Responsibility gives me hives. The last time I was responsible…” His voice trailed off for a few moments. “Gosh, it was when Castiel was a fledgling. He and Balthazar would get into so much trouble, always sneaking off and wrecking havoc. And I was the one to go after them, every time. Kind of forgot what that felt like.”
His free hand reached up then, fingers sliding through Sam’s hair, and catching a whiff of his shampoo. He must have showered recently, and Gabriel just enjoyed the moment. “Don’t worry, I’m still the same dumbass,” he teased.
“Cas was a wild & rowdy fledgling? That… I can’t really wrap my mind around that.”
Sam melted slightly at the feel of Gabriel’s hand in his hair. He’d always loved having his hair played with. He shifted slightly, nuzzling at Gabriel’s jaw. The motion ended with a snort of laughter at the angel’s words.
“Is that supposed to make me feel better?”
“Not so much ‘wild and rowdy’,” Gabriel said, “just...curious and bullheaded. Allowed himself to get talked into all sorts of crazy schemes by Balthazar. Always wandering off, wanting to ask all these questions, always thirsting for answers. Sometimes when he threw a tantrum, then yeah, he was a brat, but what child isn’t when they’re throwing a tantrum?”
He smiled as Sam nuzzled closer. For such a big and imposing looking figure, he was such a puppy dog when it came to attention, especially tactile attention. The question asked made the archangel huff out a laugh. “Sure! Isn’t it comforting to know I’m still the same idiot you somehow fell in love with?”
