I'm Trinket! You may know me as AwesomeTrinket on Steam and itch.io; I'm an indie developer who makes weird little visual novels about love, grief and horror, primarily developing them on RPGMaker MZ.
I'm mostly on BlueSky, but I'm trying to be more active on Tumblr with long-form posts and other updates.
Read below for synopses and links to my games and other social media!
Current Games:
Fawning Over a Corpse - Dana and Fawn are a perfectly average couple; they rent an apartment together, they're going to get married when the time is right, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with Fawn. Dana knows that her dearest fiancée is perfectly fine.
...As long as she ignores Fawn's ever-growing, all-consuming hunger. But averting her gaze is starting to become more and more difficult by the moment.

No Time for Mercy - Fifteen year old Victoria Huang should have been over the moon when her best friend Naomi Liu reappeared back in her life, after she and her mother vanished without a trace half a year ago.
But something is horribly, terribly wrong.

Veins Like Tapeworms - When life becomes a monotonous cycle, it's not hard to grasp how someone could be pushed to the brink of violence, all in the name of feeling free. It becomes even more understandable if that person never even began to live, before being shoved out of the nest. With no gentle way out, the only chance to start anew is to snap chains and splatter organs.
Putting it that way, it was only a matter of time until Demian gave in. We can't prevent a tragedy, but we can cause their descent.
(A young adult on the verge of breaking discovers a flesh-eating parasite, who promises to help them finally live freely. If you let them, they'll become the monster of your own making.)

A Case of Missing Identity - You awaken alone, in a world unfamiliar to you. It is the world of heroes and Tethers - Humans, as they call themselves. You know nothing, except for this:
You are not a Human. You are the shadow of your Tether, a girl who haunts your dream but whose face you've never seen.
This city is not your home, but you can learn why others make it so. Wander the empty halls, slip into the living quarters of stray Humans, and learn what makes them tick. Listen to their plights, break their wills, or put an end to their story; the choice is yours, but it will shape who you are.
Every step closes the distance between you and the shoes you wish to fill, and every choice sculpts another detail in the pattern of your existence. Eventually, if you run far enough and mold yourself into the perfect shadow, you may even be able to slip into the life of your Tether and dance as her copy.
But...
Is that really the life you want, though?

[A Case of Missing Identity] Progress Update #1 - March 2026
Hey all!
Glad I didn’t make the same mistake I did with VLT in announcing a date before I get it set in stone, because it happened again. I didn’t realize how much I had left to do, actually! I’m only just now 100% finishing up with Act 1 (CGs, sprites, and other things I’ve missed along the way) and cleaning up the main meat of Act 2’s Human encounter. There’s a lot of stuff I’ve been working on behind the scenes that can’t really be explained in a simple devlog, so we’re going to stick to the stuff that can be shown off on a social media post.
Added something new and interesting to Act 2 - back sprites! I’ve always loved visual novels that gave you more than just a flat head-on direction for character sprites, so that’s something I wanted to do for ACoMI as well. I’ll probably add them in to Act 3 once I get the demo up and running, but for now this should make the cinematography feel cleaner and more dynamic.
I’m still mucking around a bit with the positioning of back-sprites, how to get the transition from front-facing to back-facing cleaner, and things like that, but I’m really pleased with how the sprite itself came out! My hope is to make the point-of-focus clearer in certain scenes, as that’s a pretty big thing that I’ve always had gripes about with a lot of visual novels I’ve read before.
Started working on the art for the majority of Act 2, now that Act 1 is pretty much done except for spriting one last branch! A lot of it is objects that’ll get positioned around the area Perdita is in (something that a player is introduced to in Act 1), but I’ve gotten a few CGs at least sketched out as well. To be honest, a lot of this month was primarily work behind-the-scenes with scripting and spriting, but I’m trying to get more art done to make up for that.
Finally biting the bullet on drawing Draconic Mania’s sprite! It’s a little embarrassing to say, considering how major of a character he is, but I’ve been putting it off for a while now - only using his sketch during my programming so I can get coordinates right. It does feel good to finally cross that off my list, though!
Balancing out how much work I want to do on the “boring” stuff (programming and writing) vs the “flashy” parts of the game (art) at a time is something that I’ve never been able to figure out, even after being a visual novel developer for… 5 years now, I think. Plus, getting all the artwork done month-per-month does make for some pretty good development logs, but it’ll make for some very boring posts afterwards. Hoping I’ll have something more exciting in May!
For now, here’s a piece I’m really proud of:
Thanks a bunch for reading through this post! If you want something to chew on while waiting for ACoMI, why not try my other game, Veins Like Tapeworms? It goes on sale pretty regularly and has a 2-chapter demo totally for free!
[A Case of Missing Identity] Progress Update #1 - March 2026
Hey all!
One of the things I think I could've improved on with the development cycle of my first game, Veins Like Tapeworms, was making sure less people were kept in the dark about how it was going. To be honest, I'm not too great at posting regularly on social media and reaching out to people to play my game — I'm good at chucking bite-sized updates out into the void (first on Twitter and then BlueSky), but long-form stuff is just something I'm not familiar with. So, with that said, I'd like to get into the flow of things with monthly progress updates! I figured it'd look nice to have something come out on ACoMI's Steam page every now and then, so it doesn't wrongfully look like the game is abandoned or anything.
Let’s talk about ACoMI, and the things I’ve been doing with it since getting the Steam page up!
Finished putting the first half of Act 2’s script in the engine! I’m not done with adding in sound effects, extra animations, etc. to pretty things up, but for what it’s worth the most grueling of the slogwork is over with. There’s over 12,000 words worth of Act 2 content right now; mind you, most of this is branches and variations thanks to the choices you can make to get new traits/lines you experience based on what traits you have, but all of Act 1 is 13,000~ words. Act 1, together with Act 2, is 25,000~ words.
Fully implemented the introductory branch for Wisteria’s Heavenly Knight in Act 1. That includes the sound effects, choices, art; everything!
I think I’ve finished 7~ CGs, not counting variants and other poses. (If you do count them, that number is closer to…I’d say 20?) I’ll probably do a running count next month, but right now I’m pretty tired and forgot what I have and haven’t finished post-trailer.
Laid down the groundwork for 4 different Traits you can gain in Act 2, not counting Major Traits. You probably won’t be able to gain any of them in the first half of Act 2, but that’s currently up for debate.
Fun fact - did you know the demo of Veins Like Tapeworms is 13,000 words in itself? That’s 2 chapters, one ending, and one Bonus scene! That means ACoMI’s demo has almost twice the amount of content as VLT’s demo! Sorry if it takes a little longer for me to get it up and running; there’s so much for me to do. (I love doing it, though, and it’s thanks to you all that I’m able to pursue game development as a passion!)
Thanks a bunch for sticking around! This is a semi-new thing for me, and I hope I can keep the motivation to do these longer posts of what I’ve been working on. The demo should hopefully come soon. I’m aiming for a late-March or early-April release, but I’m not going to put anything in stone until I have everything in the engine. Trust me, VLT taught me that the hard way.
Images that made my game development servers pop a blood vessel: this
You should wishlist the game I'm working on here, A Case of Missing Identity! It's a point-and-click horror tragedy visual novel about melding your perception of the world around you. Walk around, drive people to their death, and shape Perdita's existence.

So, uh! Hi! I forgot to put this on my Tumblr! Let me fix that now with a kinda-late announcement of my second-ever Steam game, A Case of Missing Identity!
I'm absolutely overjoyed to announce my second game - A Case of Missing Identity! It'd mean so much to me if you all gave it a wishlist and tried out the demo when it comes out; I've been working really hard on it ever since I finished up on Veins Like Tapeworms, and I really think you would all like it if you enjoyed VLT.
Don't forget to check out the trailer below!
A Case of Missing Identity is a horror-tragedy point-and-click visual novel about how to be Human when your existence is everything but. I'm hoping to have a demo released at some point in the next few months, and the full game sometime next year or so. ACoMI is surprisingly long - even moreso than VLT, if you can believe that - so it's not going to be a hop and a skip away.
🦋 Wishlist A Case of Missing Identity now!
Visit the Steam page for ACoMI and add it to your wishlists! Every little bit counts!
I'm probably going to crosspost my monthly progress updates from Steam to here, as well, so that should give me a reason to log onto Tumblr more often!
Forming a bit of a train here from my last post, supporting real artists is VERY important right now with generative AI trying to snake its nasty tendrils into every medium of soulful, human artistry it can grab. I know I don't often promote stuff like this on my Tumblr but I want to do that today! My friend @trinket-games is the incredibly talented developer behind the game Veins Like Tapeworms, a beautifully haunting, gritty, cold, body-horror visual novel deeply tied to the struggle of queer existence. As it sits currently, the game has reached 99 sales on Steam meaning she needs ONE more person to pick up this game and she'll have reached her 100 sales goal before the end of 2025!
If you'd like to support a game developer who cares about delivering raw and viscerally human queer representation in a way few artists are brave enough to try, let alone do so respectfully, you definitely wanna check her out and grab a copy of Veins Like Tapeworms on Steam if it's possible! The game is currently 20% off for the winter sale if you're interested and if you can't buy the game but still want to support, just spreading the word is huge! Be sure to read the content warnings on the game's store page as well as in the game itself if you plan on playing as it is VERY heavy. But as much as it is dark it's viscerally human and a really beautiful work of art that I hold very dear to my heart. It'd mean the world to both of us if you could give it a chance!
Also the art style is BEAUTIFUL. The atmosphere in this game is so rich you can practically feel the cold when you play it! Thank you for reading this far btw you're a legend for that
Officially participating in the Choose Wisely Festival!
Wow, I should really start using my Tumblr more, huh? I'm sure people would appreciate more of my longform content and post-development thoughts.
Let's see if I can keep this going by announcing: Veins Like Tapeworms is officially participating in the lovely @studioephua's Choose Wisely Festival! It's going on the lowest sale it's ever been on! For just $15.99 on December 8th, you too can experience the psychological-body horror visual novel about rot, disgust, and snuffed out dreams!
And hey, if you don't want to spend that kind of money without knowing what you're getting into, there's a free demo that's basically the entire beginning of the game for you to check out!
In case you haven’t heard, the full game includes:
100,000+ words
8 chapters
Over 250 illustrations!
6 unique endings!
5 Bonus Scenes that give a glimpse of where the story continues after that! (Completely optional, of course, but accessible on the title screen!)
Over 40 Steam achievements!
A fully functional Content Warning system accessible at any time in the Options menu!
And the free demo includes:
The first 2 chapters
13,000 words
1 ending already achievable
45 illustrations
1 Bonus Scene

Aaaaaaa I'm so excited!! The trailer's done and the Steam page for Veins Like Tapeworms is currently being reviewed by Valve right now! I don't really have that much to show, but...
I got all my assets for VLT's trailer done! I think while I'm waiting for the vid, I'm gonna hunker down and get ready for the Steam demo. It'll be functionally the same as itchio; just cleaned up!
Soooo, hypothetically, how would you all feel if I said I was working on a trailer for Veins Like Tapeworms? Nothing's set in stone yet, but it's been coming along real nice!
