My friend inspired me to do some artwork based off a very strong and meaningful quote he created. Like I've said in pasts posts I make art to relieve emotions, in this case I hope to help my friend through his hard time. Forgive, but don't forget. Hold onto the memories but let go of the emotions - for that is a healing process worth living through. Enjoy.

I do a lot of symbolic self-portraits when I'm feeling a little bit down about something, or maybe even someone. I guess this one transpired from the idea of something that was said to me by someone about not belonging where we were at the time. It really hit hard and for me when I create an art piece I leave the feelings in the piece, this is my personal outlet - so now I'm all better, the feelings are in the piece and not in me anymore. Enjoy.

This is the pencils for one section of an art installation I'm working on.
It started as a freehand sketch on the computer, based off a reference image. Then I gridded what I sketched and transfered it onto this gessobord.
Hopefully I will work on it more tomorrow and get another progress photo up then.

I can't believe I haven't posted in two weeks! Argh, I thought this was supposed to be a daily blog! XD But I've been really heinously busy, it's not like I was just slacking off, I swear.
In any case, here's something I whipped up quickly today. Tomorrow I'll be giving my students a choice of assignments on cell structures; one of the things they can do is make an illustrated short story. I made this to give them an example of what I mean.
(For those of you interested: this is an image of a person being taken in through an animal cell's phospholipid bilayer through the process of endocytosis. Basically, the cell membrane is slowly wrapping around the person, creating a bubble, or vesicle, around them that will then pop off and float through the cell.)

Just to post and mention that I haven't forgotten about posting. Finally moved all my late dad's things in -- I thought that would be the end of the odyssey, but it is truely just the beginning. I will post photos of the epic result of the move once I can take ones that are clear enough. My house turned into a game of Minecraft.
Hopefully I can find a coal deposit before the dark sets in...
