Matchup Monday: In honor of what would have been their first bout in the league, due to Lonzo resting a sore groin, we arise the question, who will have the more successful career: De'Aaron Fox or Lonzo Ball? Fox has displayed loads of potential and reiterated to the massss that he can bring consistent intensity on both sides of the ball. In their most recent NCAA Sweet Sixteen matchup, Fox got the better of Lonzo Ball and headed his Kentucky Wildcats to a victory over Ball's UCLA Bruins. Fox has had the better performaces so far for their respective teams while participating in the NBA Summer League, averaging 15.7 ppg, 3.0 apg, and 2.7 steals per game over the course of 3 games. On the other hand, Ball had a internantionally recognized underwhelming first game performance against the Los Angeles Clippers. The talks ensued quickly of Ball's future in the NBA, however; he responded well against the pressure collecting 11 rebounds, 11 assists, and 11 points against the Bodton Celtics. Stolen MVP Saturday: (slightly late) Who deserved the NFL MVP at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season, Aaron Rodgers or JJ Watt? The last defensive player to win the MVP was OLB Lawrence Taylor in 1986, and before him was Alan Page in 1971. It is very few and far between that a linebacker or defensive end wins the MVP, but Watt put together a season that was worth him becoming the third defensive player to win it since the award's inauguration in 1957. Rodgers had an exceptional season, finishing with an efficent passer rating of 112.2 and showed poise with the football maintaining a 38:5 TD to INT ratio on the season. On the other hand, Watt totalled 20.5 sacks, his only career safety, and five touchdowns; three of which came on the offensive end. Nonetheless, the NFL MVP is an offensively dominated trophy so Rodgers receiving a majority of the first place votes wasn't much of a surprise.
