Thoughts that keep me up at night...
Again, it's been awhile. I have a lot of things on my mind about things I want to try, or accomplish before I turn 30...
I feel as if I don't have much time mainly because I'm always procrastinating things, or pushing them to the side because other important things come up. Or, could it be I'm denying my ability in what I can possibly do in life?
I'd like to think I'm headed towards the right direction in my current career. However, I'm not satisfied. What will it take for me to feel satisfied? For me, I'd say I'm pretty lucky to have what I currently have. I believe there's always something better out there for everyone. What is that something "better" out there?
I'd love to be able to travel for a living. I don't know why. I mean, maybe I do know why. I love the idea of going to a new destination (that's hopefully safe) to try a variety of foods, encounter new positive challenges, step foot in places I never thought existed, making friends and learn something from them, and create amazing memories to take with me back home...
I also get to discover that "unknown" version of me like the time I did cliff jumping in Bermuda. I froze to the ground but worked up the courage with help of friendly strangers who believed I could do it knowing it was safe. The idea of being able to explore new areas in life I never thought possible I would experience can be a blessing. I always take something away from it. My memories aren't that great, so thank goodness I can capture things through photos and videos.
I want to be able to go places with my loved ones and with my significant other. I want to fulfill my imaginary lifestyle and live my dream...😄
I'd like to think I "will" aim high in life and work harder not only at work, but on my passion (whatever that may be). I've given up on the idea of wanting to be a flight attendant for something I believe is more stable for my comfort. I don't expect myself to stay in this same position forever. I want to keep learning and move on to better things. How will I know what I'll need to get me there?
There's only so much I can take part in... I need to stop procrastinating, start executing on things and take more risks (not big ones - just tiny steps at a time).
Where do I begin?
Back Again...
It’s been along time since a last posted a note. I feel a bit uneasy being on here after what had happened last year... Men allt jag har gatt igenom har jag nu lagt bakom mig. Jag har hittat karlek som jag aldrig trodde jag skulle hitta. Basta killen nansin! :) Vi ska resa bort i oktober. Ska se vad som hander. :)
The view from above. #beautiful #breathtaking #view #upintheair #simplypatricia #trishakiseu #minnelse #clouds #flight #vacation

POLYGLOT WEEKLY’S REBLOG OF THE WEEK
I feel bad about not following all of my lovely followers back. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to get sucked into social media and not come up for air if my Dashboard is too full. So as a compromise, I decided to add this feature. Once a week, I’ll browse my followers’ blogs to find something pertinent to the blog and reblog it to help spread the love and information.
I love lists like this because they can help you stay in your target language so much longer when practicing. Now as I’ve said before, I’m actually not an immersion person BUT I do like my conversation practice to have a lot of TL and it gets difficult when your vocab is limited. Enjoy the list!
mandarin & cantonese: useful verbs
made with lots of help and advice from @language-obsession and his two posts on cantonese, which can be found here and here :D
some notes and further resources:
cantonese jyutping and IPA key
although 是 and 係 mean to be in mandarin and cantonese, respectively, to indicate one’s location (i.e. “i am here”), you’d use 在 (zài) in mandarin and 喺 (hai2) in cantonese
有 in mandarin (pronounced yǒu) and in cantonese (pronounced jau5) can both mean there is as well as to have
while most verbs in mandarin negate by placing 不 (bù) in front of the verb, 有 takes 没 (méi) instead
similarly, in cantonese, most verbs negate by placing 唔 (m4) in front of the verb, but 有 is preceded by 冇 (mou5) instead
for the verb to want, 想 (xiǎng in mandarin and seong2 in cantonese) is used with a verb, while 想要 (xiǎng yào in mandarin and seong2 jiu3 in cantonese) is used with a noun
for the verb to know, 知道 (zhī dào) in mandarin and 知 (zi1) in cantonese mean to know facts, while 认识 (rèn shí) in mandarin and 識 (sik1) in cantonese mean to know people — it’s a distinction similar to savoir/connaître in french or saber/conocer in spanish
明 (ming4) on its own can also mean to understand in cantonese (it’s a shorter form of 明白)

Hello! A lot of you have been asking me where and how I’ve learn multiple languages and well, after a few hours of digging through my browser history and bookmarks, I was able to collect all of these resources. I have personally used all of these, so I can assure you they are useful! If there is something wrong with a website or a link, please let me know. Also, if you have any questions or if you want a learning buddy, my ask box is open. (I speak English and Spanish. I’m learning Korean, German, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, Italian, and Esperanto)
Note: Learning a new language requires a lot of dedication, more than you actually think! Especially if you’re learning multiple languages at the same time. It isn’t impossible, but it will take time. And by time I mean months and/or years! So please, be patient. Take your time. Don’t rush. Keep in mind that you will mess up and that’s okay. Practice as much as you can. Practice out loud. Talk to yourself if you can. It doesn’t matter if people think you’re crazy. They won’t be thinking the same when you become a polyglot, so don’t mind them. This is for you and your future.
