my name is link, and i'm an irl magical hero! i use they/he/star pronouns and am currently 21 years old.

my concept is based around the legend of zelda, as i'm sure you could guess by my name and theme.

my concept is my own that i've been discovering, though it's inspired by madoka magica and cardcaptor sakura!

i've been an eclectic pagan for a few years now, and have been a non-traditional magic user for even longer!

i'm a worshipper of the Golden Goddesses of Hyrule- Farore, Nayru, and Din- as well as Hylia and the Hellenic gods Hermes and Dionysus!

i'm a reincarnation of the Spirit of the Hero, though i have a lot of work to do before i can match the abilities of my past incarnations,, ^^"

i'm an undiagnosed DID system, though i don't often have an easy time telling who's fronting and don't plan on systemposting often (if at all)! i'm also diagnosed with autism and adhd <3

my favorite Zelda games are Majora's Mask, The Minish Cap, and Skyward Sword! Though I'm a MAJOR fan of all of them!!

Kindness as a irl mahou shoujo !

I know it isnt always easy to be kind or positive, and being a magical hero doesn't exempt you from negativte emotions or feelings !

but in times like this its important to remember the original nature of all magical girls

–to keep kindness and hope even when the world is dark

Sometimes it can be difficult to remember to be so hopeful and kind, even with your duties of helping the world already on your shoulders. But remember that even despite a few hiccups (perhaps in your past, or current judgement) that you can still be kind and you can do better !!

Now why is this so important as a irl mahou???

Because negative energies don't beenefit anyone! Darkness and negativity literally go hand and hand, and all energy has to go somewhere !!

(This isn't saying don't defend yourself or stand up for yourself, simply don't be a meanie!)

I know this is a slightly hypocritical lecture considering that I've been in drama and have had lapses in my judgement and therefore treatment of others, but spoken from expirence drama nad negativity in magi spaces and irl is very rampent ..

and it's never a good reflection of character or your duties as a mahou !!

so i started watching madoka magica right. and why exactly is this the go-to concept for ppl???? like i can see the appeal of high-risk high-reward but at the same time there are so many other magical hero concepts out there that dont require any threat of death and also you can just manifest your wish normally </3 im on ep2 so maybe something happens but ???? what is the logic

as someone who was highly considering being a puella magi and uses it as inspiration in their current concept, i had a few reasons!

It was one of the most accessible concepts when I was starting out. Why? I dunno. Hell, I've purposefully tried many times to look into original and other show inspired concepts and haven't found much.

Its the one that got popular on tik tok and it's popular magical girl show in general (maybe especially among younger people?)!

The fact that it is so popular in and outside of the community means it's an easier one to connect with other people about.

Like you said, high risk high reward! I liked the danger of fighting witches and the risk of involving my soul, especially when it came to whether I'd contract with Kyubey or Madokami. I guess the risk made it feel like my results would be more tangible?

Despite what I just talked about, the concept's application in our world isn't the same way it works in the show. To my understanding, it's overall safer compared to the show while still having a level of risk to it. That gets into spoilers so I won't get too into it.

I like collecting things. I probably would have collected grief seeds, not even out of greed or fear or anything, just out of love of the game (collecting). Plus, the idea of purifying your soulgem feels like a very tangible cleansing method to me!

Speaking of spoilers, thinking about what witches are and what fighting them means also spoke to me a lot.

The aesthetics! Kind of a stupid thing to risk my life for but oh!!!!! my stars!!!!! Madoka Magica's witches, magical transformations, and labyrinths are so stunning and inspiring to me!!!!!!!!
