sunday afternoon dreams
charlottewilde:
A lemon farm?! That sounds like so much fun. That does sound extremely delicious. You’re going to have a whole new arsenal of treats to add to your business, that’s so exciting! The summer has been going pretty well, Mexico has been really great and I’m excited to see my other sister who just got to campus!
Yes, there's a tonne of them here in Sicily and it smelled and was so beautiful sitting in the middle of the mountains the way it was. Oh that's lovely to hear that your other sister is here, is that all of your siblings on campus now?
alinamontgomery:
That just sounds lovely, Trixie! Do save me one if you actually get to doing that welcome back menu, I’m definitely interested. Breakfast food is one of my favorites - but so far nothing has beaten a great French toast with strawberries. Maybe this Granita with brioche might. Oh!!! A SEVEN layer chocolate cake?! That I’m totes interested in. I’m having a lovely summer, Trixie. Still planning my next week, to be honest. I like to do whatever comes to mind.
Of course I'll save you one Miss! A perfect stuffed French toast is certainly one of the best ways you can start your morning, but granita is like a refreshing morning ice cream that you dip your brioche into. I'm sure you'll fall in love when you taste it. Different parts of italy have different local flavours of granita, here it's lemon or coffee.
puckerjae:
Hey, Trix! I’m so glad you’re having a good time! Does this mean you’re going to come back with a lot of good food to make for us? Like authentic Italian, nothing can be better than that, right?
Thank you Jae, I hope that Chicago is treating you equally well. It absolutely does, I've been putting together a new menu with all of the things that I've learned on it. And I'll make sure to make some nice things for the Good Subs Club to welcome any new members that we might get in September.
yas-puckerman:
Dope. Do lemons grow on trees or in bushes?
Trees! My Nona used to have a few in her greenhouse out back, but these were huge. It was like being in a proper orchard.
switchingmaya:
Spain and Greece, if I ever get the chance. Mexico again was on it too but I managed to cross that off this week. What’s your favorite thing to bake?
Oh that’s amazing, what’s your favourite thing you’ve seen in Mexico? Probably strawberry tart, it’s simple but they’re so tasty.
yas-puckerman:
Damn squirt, all you do is think about cooking huh?
That’s not true, I think about other things sometimes! Today I’m going to a lemon farm, and I’m going to pick lemons! That’s not cooking Miss.
charlottewilde:
Oh my gosh I am so happy you’re having an amazing time Trixie! I definitely could see you staying there, even if I would miss you terribly. What’s your favorite recipe that you’ve learned so far?!
It’s honestly a new amazing experience everyday, Adams cousins are taking me to a lemon farm today! I think probably this seven layer hazelnut and chocolate cake though it changes everyday at the moment. How about you Charlie are you having a good summer?
switchingmaya:
Ooh, I’ve always wanted to go to Italy, it just sounds so fun. Definitely remind you to put in an order with you when you’re back so I can live vicariously through your food.
It’s definitely somewhere that I would recommend now that I’ve been, do you have anywhere else on your bucket list Miss? And I will look forward to the order, can’t wait to be nice and busy in September.
the-sugar-motta:
Oh Trix! Where in Italy did you go? It’s super sad we didn’t cross paths there! Do you think I could I help with some recipes you test before you make them for Trixie’s Treats?
I’m in Sicily staying with Adams family! It is a shame we didn’t cross paths because it’s so gorgeous here and I’m sure that Adams family would have been pleased to see you. Yes of course! I’m sure you know all about rolling cannoli but i’ve been learning some new techniques.
alinamontgomery:
Oh, those are lovely news! I can’t wait to try everything you’ve been learning, Trixie. Those curros and the salads you made last semester were all incredible. What’s your favorite thing you’ve learned so far? I heard Italians are very particular about the ways they make food.
Thank you so much Miss! I’m really considering doing a welcome back menu with a bunch of the things that I’ve been taught her on it. I’ve really enjoyed learning to make Granita con brioche which is one of the most common breakfasts here in the summer in Sicily. Which is broiche with frozen granita. Or Setteveli the seven layer chocolate cake. They are very particular, but I think I’m a good student. Are you having a nice summer?
Italy is beyond a dream, the food here is liking nothing I’ve ever tasted in my life and I truly do think I can stay here forever. Though honestly there’s a part of me that can’t wait to get back to campus and start putting some of the recipes I’ve been learning to practice at Trixies Treats!
