A lot of things have happened since I last wrote a blog post. I’ve got a new job, a new boo, a new appreciation of family and friends, but more importantly, I’ve gained 13 pounds! This WOULD happen after I’ve fallen in love with Honey Baked Ham’s Oatmeal Raisin Cookies!
Yeah, my goal of being summertime fine was accomplished, but now that it’s fall…
I can blaim this gain on a lot of things. For instance:
-New Job…but they provide fresh fruit two days a week AND I walk to lunch most days.
-New Boo…it would BE so easy to blame it on him, but nope, he makes sure I get my workouts in and tries not to schedule dates while I’m working out or running.
-Knee problems….but I’ve run half marathons with the same knee and I am able to cross train.
But the blame lies soley on me! I have an affinity for any and everything that is prepared in flour and baked or fried to a delicious crisp! I defintely get my cardio and workouts on, but I’ve found my self slipping back into REALLY bad habits of over doing it on the sweets. Like, I’d rather skip a meal and have a piece of cake instead.
Normally, I wouldn’t give two shyts about the number on the scale, but when I pull up a skirt and hear a rip, then I KNOW there’s a problem. When my once flat stomach, looks like there’s a creature inside, I KNOW there’s a problem. When my already chubby cheeks look like I’m storing acorns for the winter, I KNOW there’s a problem.
Thinking back over the last months, I realized my love/hate relationship with running, is no longer a love/hate relationship, I pretty much no longer enjoy it. I went through stages of being slow, to wanting to get faster to getting faster, to wanting to go further to going further. I haven’t run over 5 miles in what feels like AGES. I do miss the feeling of sore limbs from a good run, spin class or beat down from my trainer, all things that I have put on a back burner.
I’m not going to beat mysef up, nor am I looking for sympathy, I’m just reflecting on how my recent life changes, has changed MY lifestyle.
I’m not looking for suggestions or reccomendations, unless you know a good personal trainer in the Lilburn/Sandy Springs area that is willing to travel and will make me want to kill him/her after we are done.
The weight loss/gain cycle with me is never-ending, but it’s normally between 2-5 lbs. I don’t believe that I’ve ever jumped this far in such a short period of time.
While a lot of people will say, “Well you don’t look like you weigh 1X3 pounds, and I REALLY apreciate that, but looking at pictures from just a few short months ago makes me realize how much I’ve failed myself at trying to mantain a different lifestyle. I’m normally the most happy and active when I’m training for a race, but refer back to my new status with running…
So what am I going to do for the umpteenth time? It all comes down to my food choices. If I elimanate a few things from my diet over the next 4 weeks, I’m fairly confident that the pounds will melt away.
After I finish this King Of Pop Chocolate Sea Salt ice cream, I’m gonna get back on track! Wish me luck!
And P.S. Boo- throw out that last box of honey buns at the house :-)
