The ignorance on our roads.

I drive across this great country of ours and I see people do the most amazingly STUPID stuff. Where has common sense gone? Who is teaching these idiots how to drive? I'm not talking about just cars. I'm talking about semi trucks as well. They swerve like a drunk driver (May very well be), they cut you off, they refuse to dim their headlights. It's as if they live in their own little world and everyone else around them is an inconvenience. Another problem I see and hear. Hatred. Not just against a person but against all people. When did our society become anti-social? When did it become socially acceptable to be anti-social? When did it become social acceptable to be a complete asshole?

Do you love you?

Something that took me a really long time to learn. You must Love yourself before anyone else can Love you. You are you. No one else can be you. Find out "who" you are and do it on purpose. "We are what we repeatedly do therefor excelence happens by habit not chance." -aristotle - Once we figure out who we are finding friends is the next challenge. A wise man told me once "There is no such thing as practice makes perfect. But practice makes you better!". We all have our faults or bad habits. When you accept someone as your friend you accept these things. Unless the habits or faults are beyond annoying then you must decide if its a friendship you want. Just remember no one is perfect. A few of the things I look for in a friend. Do they love themselves. Do they love their family. Do they love their friends. Does their moral compass aim the same way as yours.

June 22, 2000 Thirteen years ago today I was driving thru New Jersey when I got the news. June 22,2000 was the day my world ended. My brother had died. Richard and three others killed and the fifth guy in their construction crew was severely injured by an idiot that lost control of their vehicle in the construction zone. I've been avoiding writing this today knowing the emotional toll it would take. Now I just want to find a dark hole to hide in. R I P IN LOVING MEMORY OF Richard T. Sills My brother, father, & friend. I miss you more than could ever be expressed. Love ya man!

Best dispatcher ever!

The following is an email conversation I just had with my dispatcher. I was LMAO!! Dispatcher: William, Can you preload the Des Moines, IA load tomorrow, please? Me: As long as they have a trailer. Dispatcher: If not, eat some steel and nails, make sure you have a hearty appetite and plenty of ex lax ;0) Me: So basically if they don't have a trailer u want me to pull one out of my ass? LOL Dispatcher: Ding, ding, ding, Johnny, what do we have for our winner today? Lol, just kidding...may need to go get one elsewhere if need be... Me: LOL 10-4 I'll take care of it. Dispatcher: Sounds Great, Thank you William

Whirlwind

This is going to be my first Mothers Day with out mom. It's another reminder that she isn't here anymore. Another heart wrenching thought. More heart ache. More depression. My world slowly slipping away. June 4th will be one year since mom passed away. A friend told me earlier today. "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass it's about learning to dance in the rain" I'm trying.......

Kindness

I walked into Waffle House this morning for breakfast. Sat down at the bar by the register and ordered my food. Just about the time my food arrived a gentleman walked up to place a to-go order. I listened as they chatted and when she got his ticket together I looked at her and said I'll cover that. This surprised her and the gentleman. Little did I know he is a local preacher. I turned to shake his hand and he introduced himself saying thank you so much. I told him that I do this about once a week. I pick a random stranger and buy their meal in hopes that they'll do the same for someone else. Spread the love around. He smiled and said he wishes more people would do that. That my friends is how you start your day off to be grand!! Think of others and others will think of you!

My depression

I've shared with many of you that when my brother passed away I fell into a deep dark depression. What I haven't shared is what I went thru during that depression. I've only shared this with one person and that was just recently. Please forgive me while I step up and bear my soul. My weakness. My life. When my brother was killed my life ended. At least that's how I saw it. I had lost the most valuable thing I had. I idolized my brother because he was more than a brother to me. He was my best friend. He was my father figure. He was my world. I held my head up high at the wake never shedding a tear at least not when anyone could see me. I held back the pain, the horror so I could support my mom and sister and sister in law. I made it all the way to the cemetery. I couldn't stand it any longer. I ran away. I ran and hide from my family from my brothers grave. I ran because being there meant it was real. I ran because I couldn't handle the fact he was gone. He wasn't gone.... At least not to me. I spoke to him every day. As I drove down the road he was always my copilot. We had hour long conversations about anything and everything. Every where I went and everything I did he was right next to me. Always there but not really. He had the answers to all my questions. I spent many years not letting my brother go. I never accepted his death till just a few years ago. By that time my depression had already destroyed many great things in my life. I talked (out loud) to my brother. I laughed with him watched TV with him. We talked about the weather, life, work, everything. Yes I said talked. He answered my questions and laughed at my jokes. In my mind he was sitting or standing or walking right next to me every day. Every where I was he was. Twelve years and 9 months ago my world turned upside down. The roller coaster I've been on has been a constant up and down, and when it went down it would go crashing down hard. I hold my head up now. Not cause it's easy but because I don't have my brother to hold it up for me. See I lost my brother twice. I lost him June 22,2000 and again June 4,2012 when our mom passed. He told me it was time for him to go. He had to take momma home. I miss our conversations. I miss his advice. I miss having him right next to me day in and day out. But seeing his happy face when he said he was taking mom home so she could finally be happy. That she no longer had to hurt or be hurt makes me happy. My brother my hero my guiding light kept me safe. He guided me thru the twists and turns and ups and downs of my life even after his death. He showed me who I am and to be proud and to fight for myself, but now I must be strong. He has a much more important person to care for now. Our mom. And that is why I'm not depressed over my moms passing. Cause I know where she is an who she's with. I find myself looking to the heavens and saying when it's my time we will be together again. Till then..... I LOVE Y'ALL!

SURVIVING THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE (third post)

RACING WINTER and A CHRISTMAS PRESENT We have about 550 miles to go to get to Norfolk. The temperature has started dropping. We decided that we can't afford to be stopping any more than necessary. We are on an all out push to make it to Norfolk. After twenty hours of driving, pushing cars and killing every zombie we crossed we were beat. At a point of exhaustion that only stopping for food and sleep could cure. We really need to teach some of these people how to drive these trucks. We make it to Richmond, Va and decide to bed down and send a group out to look for supplies. We will drive the last hundred miles tomorrow. The scouts returned with company. A small group of men dressed like soldiers. The leader of this battalion of men was Sam. He told us they had came down from the Naval base at Mechanicsburg,Pa and that the north east was covered in zombies and they had barely gotten out. He told us stories of near escapes and of their brothers at arms that had died. Sam told us they had left Mechanicsburg to escape the zombies and to come to Norfolk in hopes of finding Naval support. When they arrived at the Norfolk Naval base it was deserted. No ships no crew. We all looked at each other in shock and disbelief. Our plan has just been destroyed. We told Sam and his crew what we had hoped to get to Norfolk and find a ship and if lucky an aircraft carrier. Told him how we planned to use the aircraft carrier as a safe home. Using the open deck and dirt we'd build gardens to grow our food. Leaving an open area to still take off and land small aircraft on. This dream was now gone. We sat around looking at our options. Discussing what to do next when Sam said that they were heading to North Carolina to Fort Bragg. We all agreed this was good plan. At Bragg we would be able to find large amounts of MREs (though nasty you can survive off MRE's), weapons, ammo and better equipment. We hit the road that evening even tho we hoped to avoid driving at night due to all the obstacles we had to face, we knew we had to get back south and set up a safe camp before winter froze us in. We were fortunate to find out that Sam and his crew also knew how to drive a semi truck. This took a huge burden off of us. We made the two hundred and thirty mile trip in amazing time partly due to there not being many vehicles on the roads. We arrived at Fort Bragg and it seemed like a war had happened. We searched the whole base and couldn't find a single survivor. Was a strange lack of zombies as well. We got underway searching for supplies and with a huge stroke of luck we found them! Truck loads of food, medical supplies, and ammo all inside one building!!! Do we now make a winter camp here or pack up and move on? We decided to fortify the warehouse and wait to the next day to decide. We were all to tired to make this big decision. We set a rotation for guards and went to bed. The next morning our decision was made for us. The snow had arrived. I told everyone that I had some friends in the area and would like to go look for them so we put a team together and went looking. As we were driving thru Fayetteville,NC I was telling Sam about my friend Bernie. He looked at me surprised and said "You know him?! He's one of my greatest old friends!" We went to Bernie's home and couldn't find them any where. My heart dropped expecting the worst. We started searching the area for our friend, but with no luck. We headed back to our camp that crews were working on fortifying. What we came back to was amazing! They had found the bulldozers and started building dirt walls and putting up fences they'd taken from other areas. They had us an area built that we could easily stay bunked up at for the winter. We started a daily search for survivors and zombies and then we found why we hadn't seen any zombies or survivors they were all in one place. The zombies had surrounded a building. We had no clue what or who was inside the building but we hadn't got to kill any zombies in a couple of days so the party was on!!! We cleared out the mob and got the doors open to find a small group of people. An early Christmas present, it was Bernie and his family.

Telemarketer's & the failure that is the DNC

The FCC & our government under a huge moment of stupifuckery decided that it would be ok to release cell phone numbers to the market for telemarketer to be able to make money again because most people now days don’t have a landline. Now was this a play by the cellular providers to “fuck” it’s customers out of minutes or the FCC way of fucking the people.

The FCC had a brilliant idea. Lets create a DNC (Do Not Call list) and whomever puts their number on this list will be protected from telemarketer calls. Well leave it up to telemarketer company’s they found a loop hole. Using the Internet they use VOIP and a prerecorded message and make mass calls from different numbers all day. Making it difficult for the FCC to track them.

The FCC has a contest going now looking for a program where they can not only find these abusers of VOIP but also shut them down.

Until then I have a short term solution. I created a contact in my phone simply labeled TELEMARKETER and each time I get a call from a new number I add it to the list. It’s generally a new number a month but they still call from the older numbers as well. Basically it’s my way of putting them on a DNA (Do Not Answer list).

A resolution always seems like a lofty goal you never reach. I have a few goals for the next year.

1) To stop smoking & any nicotine addiction.

2) Get back into a size 32 pants. Currently a 38.

3) Find more friends. Friends like I have now. True friends.

4) Continue my fight and over come...

Not a Resolution but rather a statement. .

Some lofty goals and some easy ones. All accomplishable some with help some dependent on others. Any goal can be accomplished with hard work and an open mind. Just have to remember the parable about the twigs. TWIGS If you grab a bundle of twigs & try to break them it's very difficult if not impossible. However if you take them one or two at a time they're easy to break. This principle works with stress and issues in life. One issue (goal) at a time. Will I conquer all my goals? Who knows! Is it the end of the world if I don't? Nope! Here's to 2013 a year of Happiness & Love!!!!!

Wanted

No I’m not looking for something to buy, but I am looking for something. It’s a feeling. To be wanted. To be missed. My friends have pulled me in closer this year and shown me they want me. They want me around. Not for any selfish reasons other than they want to take care of me. It’s not enough for me. It’s not the feeling I’m looking for. It’s feeling that friends just can’t give you. It’s a feeling I haven’t felt in a long time.

Till recently……

The simplest gestures tell the tail. Small minuet things that make a world of difference. A text or FaceBook posting that simply says “I’ll miss you till you get home”. Do you do this for your spouse or boy/girl friend? Show them that they are wanted. Let them see that you need them. Not in any sexual way but an emotional way.

Emotions are our greatest gift and greatest curse. Some people say they have the ability to shut down their emotions to block out the pain before it hits. I call bullshit. I don’t think it’s possible. However it’s the heartache that makes us stronger and more compassionate.

I “want” all my friends to know……..

I LOVE YOU! (no I’m not saying NO HOMO!) I love my friends each for a different reason, but my love for them is all the same.

I want y’all to know that I miss talking to you. I miss seeing you. I miss our great times with each other.

As for me….. yea I’m wanted! She’s renewed that feeling. That emotional need to feel wanted.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER

It's not been a good year for me. With the ending of a long term relationship and my mom passing away it's hard to see the good in life. As I've said many times before my friends are my salvation. A couple of years ago I started looking at my friends and their true value to me. I learned who was true and who was not. I learned I had a small handful of people I could lean on as they could lean on me. Little did I know then that I would need this small group of people so much! This small select group that I felt were true have lifted me up and saved me. They saved me from my life that spiraling out of control. A life of certain depression. Now I'm scared again. With all that's happened to me this year I've meet someone. How we meet was unconventional and caused some drama, but we meet. She has surprised me in so many ways and to be honest has scared the crap out of me all at the same time. Her laugh is contagious. Her smile is radiant. Her energy is extraordinary. With all these great things your probably asking why are you scared. I'm scared that with all the other bad that's happened that this won't last either. I'm scared that it's another let down just waiting to happen. I'm gonna keep my head up tho. Thinking positive thoughts and enjoy my life that's unfolding in front of me. Where will we end up? Who knows! But I hope it's Happily ever after...... You know that moment when you see someone for the first time. That moment they take your breath away. That second where all you can think is Could it be? Is this real?. So yes I'm scared. Scared it's a pipe dream. Scared it to will come crashing down around me like everything else in my world. All I can do is hope and pray that it ends up.... Happily ever after. Words are hard to find. Emotions are hard to explain. What we feel is often confusing. I've sat and talked to her and we both agree it's to soon to say "I love you". I can't say that I do love her. I can say I like her a lot. I want to be around her. Her presence makes me feel good, makes me feel wanted, makes me feel special. Emotions are so damn confusing. I dunno. I'm lost in a whirlwind. A whirlwind of happiness, fear, & excitement. I just want the fear to go away. Then my emotions will know what to do. Till then....like I said....all I can hope for is HAPPILY EVER AFTER!
