Almost there for Olden Demon. Still have to base it and do some cleanup. I'm not too happy about the halberd head so I might change that if I can get a better idea.

Here's a clip from my "Road to Olden Demon" video where I show how you can test out color schemes digitally. The full video is on my channel.

Here's a clip from my "Road to Olden Demon" video where I go through my options for an Empire model. The full video is on my channel.
Hey friends! I made a video about preparing for Olden Demon, picking an oldhammer model, figuring out a color scheme and painting a test model. At the end, there's a brief tutorial about doing digital mockups for different color schemes.
Here's a test model for the Empire. I'm hoping to paint an Empire model for the Olden Demon competition (and possibly a small warband) and wanted to get my scheme right. This model, of course, wouldn't qualify as it was released in 2000, but I have a couple of older ones prepared. The second image shows how I like to develop my color mixes from dark to light on paper rather than directly on the model. As you can see, this one actually started out green and blue.
Let's take a look at the zombies I converted for Warhammer The Old World.
Here's some more sculpting practice on zombies. The head actually comes from the same 1999 (?) multi-part zombie kit as the rest of the parts, but it's very different in scale and more in line with other kits at the time (empire troops) or even modern Warhammer. I'm wondering why they included it, maybe it was sculpted by someone else, or possibly even part of a different kit originally.
I sculpted an iron hat as one of the Gary Morley zombies had one. I was inspired by those models to make mine more equipped for combat, but the spearhead and the hat took me a long while to sand and get right.
Here is my archers unit on a black background, they are night goblins after all!
Sculpting practice! I have mixed feelings about the old multi-part zombie kit. On the one hand, it has a lot of charm, and many of the faces are great. On the other, the heads and hands are huge and the shoulder joins are pretty rough.
My main reason for doing this is to practice sculpting without having to create a whole figure from scratch, which is always intimidating.
I got to try things I've never done before, like the hair and the blade, as well as some anatomy and cloth, which is a struggle. I wanted to create a more martial zombie that holds a shield and appears more focused, inspired by the 90s ones sculpted by Gary Morley. The head is from the previous generation skaven stormvermin kit.
Victory! It's been a while since I started working on these, but they're finally done! I've taken long breaks between painting them as I don't enjoy working on the same model over and over, and during that time, my color scheme has drifted. Over the past week, I've taken the time to unify the color scheme so now I can finally call them done!
Here's a quick video about doing a Mordheim backdrop for the goblin I sculpted last year. I managed to get silver in standard at Squidmar Open and commended in the Critter Challenge.

Somewhere in the World's Edge Mountains, the Red Face goblin tribe prepares for a night raid.
I got two awards in the Squidmar Open 2026, standard level! This feels incredible! I'm not sure which I'm more proud of: one is gold, but the silver is my most ambitious project. I sculpted the model myself and spent a lot of effort on the backdrop.
Please check out the entire gallery, I'm still poring through the entries myself. There's so much quality stuff in there!
Been painting gobbos for a while, but this is the first one I've built out of this multipart kit. Second image has minor corrections and matte varnish.
Another pair of goblins rebased! I repainted the faces to bring them up to date with my latest. The eyes were really hard for me on the right one, they're really tiny! Also adjusted the robes to my latest scheme.
I've started rebasing some of my old goblins that were on rounds and used the occasion to upgrade the paintjob a bit. There is a certain appeal to those dead eyes from 2023, but I like the new one much more.
